Thuram for a season would be superb, as Jon says he is still an athelete. He was brilliant at full back for France during WC 98 but has been as good at centre half. I cant see us managing the wages. Arsenal would be silly not to take him if they have the chance. They are screaming out for a player like him.

Agree with that - he may start ok but wont be the finished article. Id rather 3.25 million spent on a midfielder who can skip past a player. Again il reserve judgement until ive seen the guy but its a depressing signing. I think Velicka and Miller are good signings as they will play regularly - something JCD or Boyd havent done. I think we just need to pay Feyenoord 400k for Buffel and keep him. That actually sounds a bargain when you think of our transfer budget and how much it will cost us to get a player with his ability.

I hope Whittaker does play RB as he isnt what we need in our midfield at all. But we may still need a back up for him or even better someone better! LB we are covered, I hope S Smith gets a good pre season and gets some form going.

We might want to throw a right midfielder in aswell. I like Nacho Novo a lot but we need more than him for that position, Davis (if he signs) shouldnt be played there. But if we hold onto McGregor and Carlos then we are looking in not bad shapre once we get the above.

You cant compare his first stint with us to what he HASNT done this time round. And I wouldnt say he was dire for Wolves or Derby. He did ok for Wolves and played in a Derby team which were totally out of there depth in the Premier League from 1 to 11 - not just Miller. And for Scotland he has gave fine games there aswell and in some games he was the difference. If he is absolutely dire this season then I will be the first to say so, but I certainly will wait to see him before I judge. BTW Wija - Your spot on Re Tommy Burns - that puts rivalry into perspective where it should remain on the football park only.

Im with Calscot and Craig on this. Miller hasnt even kicked a ball yet and is pre judged. Anyone who wants Smith out needs a bit of a reality check going back 16 months. He may not be in Arsene Wengers league of style of play but he certainly picked us up and we are actually on schedule to get where we want to be again. Last season his over achieving put people on a bandwagon to get him out. But when you think about it the target was actually to just challenge again. It is this seaosn coming where he HAS to deliver the league title, so my reservations on WS will be made at the end of this coming season.

This is where the Scottish league has to start becoming stronger aswell. We need to reduce the amount of league games and have an bigger top flight of 16-18 teams playing twice. The 3rd division should also be scrapped then teams would be more ambitious. And teams should just merge! But what are the SFA, SFL doing right now!! - Going round looking for another minor to join the league! If footballers only get 4 weeks off in the year then so be it! The normal worker gets the same yet not as much wages.
