  1. Thats 1 player I never even thought of going for! Id prefer McFadden but Maloney is a decent player. Not sure if he would come to Ibrox though.
  2. I think something may happen and the Atlantic league idea hasnt gone away. I can see a european set up involving every country meaning there will be a few divisions but that would be a good 10 years off. With the Lisbon treaty the EU is already getting closer, although this is bad politics more than anything else, but I can see football following on. Once there is such breakaway it will change the face of the game. But I wouldnt mind seeing thr Atlantic league. Clubs like Ajax must really feel as frustrated as us, they were a giant 10 years ago and capable of winning the CL - now they struggle to win the Dutch league. First and foremore the plums that run the Scottish game need to take a look at themselves. If they cant see that the SPL needs extended to 16 teams then we will continue being a laughing stock of a league especially with this split.
  3. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/7429342.stm How much of a backward step is this!! All the talk of Capello coming in and shaking things up but nothing different has been done at all. He should be getting rid of the players who are past it.
  4. Agree with Craig, a LB is nowhere near a top priority as Papac, Smith and even Whittaker can play there. RB could be an issue but Whittaker should get a run here. Im really hoping WS doesnt keep Whittaker in midfield as he is another Ricksen type player - offers nothing dangerous in attack.
  5. Dont you think people deserve 2nd chances once they realise this though? Its a common thing amoungst a number of fellow Rangers players. If it benefits the team then im all for players coming back or crossing the divide, and IMO Lovenkrands will benefit the team. PL, Beasley, Novo and Darcheville in the same team brings a lot of pace and is very attack minded
  6. Yip good point, Id rather we went for 2 x 5 million players or 3 x 3 million players who would walk straight into the first team rather than squad players.
  7. I think he will be shrewd until we qualify for the CL then we might see a few more million being available. I cant see Murray risking spending 10-13 million and with us not guarenteed being in the CL proper. But we do need some quality forward players.
  8. Yep sorted now, I just wanted to check it wasnt anything to do with my connection
  9. Its a shame players dont realise that at the time!! But as i said, Im all for the return of Lovenkrands. I think he'd up his effort, and he is a more mature player now. As the Hammer says - Walter has to deliver the league next season. We need more attacking players.
  10. Not heard of him. Anyone signed him in FM?
  11. Are you sure about that?? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1pqdaZZSLA&feature=related
  12. Yeah Dailly is there. Didnt put Miller in as he hasnt signed and id rather we go for another striker like Alan Smith.
  13. Whats everyones realistic ideal XI next season including signings? We'd need to choose a formation. I cant see us getting a class creative player to move things to a 4-4-2 so id expect a 4-4-1-1 or 4-5-1 (which can be 4-2-3-1 aswell). Firstly I hope McGregor stays. Alexander is good back up but I wouldnt be over happy if he was our no.1 In defence we are all praying for Carlos to stay and I think he will. But with Weir not prepared to be a back up we need a new centre half. Webster could be the man but he has a lot to prove. At left back Papac and S Smith are fine here, hopefully we get the same from Papac as this season plus it would be great to see Smith get his pre-injury form back. Right back is a bit troubled for us. Lowing has never really came on and Whittaker gets preferred in midifield. Id start Whittaker and give him a run of games there. Broadfoot is a tryer but simple not good enough. Midfield - Hemdani looks to be on his way out so we can rule him out. Dailly is expected to stay so should be good cover. Thomson needs to take 1 step further next season but we need a player to compliment him. Barry Ferguson is on last chance saloon with some bears. Its not good playing superb 1 game then below average for 7 games, also he seems blameless and an auto pick whatever - something i dont like! If we could get someone better id be happy. Steven Davis may sign on which would be fine. In the wide positions id make Beasley first pick on the left with McCulloch as his back up. Adam would be 3rd choice. Novo would start on the right as we just dont have anyone else for that role at the moment. Strikers - Darcheville will currently be first pick with Boyd as his back up. Cousin and Sebo will be off the books and Naismith is injured. So we now need a striker or 2. Youngsters - I hope to see Furman, Lennon and Fleck step up and get more first team action next season. If you are good enough you are old enough, but I fear WS wont play them too much. Signings - Hopefully we dont need a keeper. But we possibly need a right back along with a centre half in defence. We need a central midfielder who knows how to break a defence down and a right sided player. 2 strikers will be needed aswell. Injured - Naismith and Burke will be out until 2009 So we can have a couple of teams like the following: ____________________McGregor____________________ Whittaker_____(Webster)_______Cuellar_________Papac Novo_________Ferguson________Thomson_____Beasley _______________________(Lovenkrands)_____________ ____________________Darcheville___________________ Back up: ____________________Alexander_____________________ New__________Broadfoot________New____________Smith New________Davis/Furman________Dailly__________McCulloch/Adam ___________Boyd/Fleck______New/Lennon____________ Obviously if we get players in who havent been mentioned they will fit into that systems, the above is just possibly realistic.
  14. I hope the Lovenkrands rumours are true. But even if they are would WS play him, Beasley and Novo in the same team - doubt it! Far too attacking.
  15. I think he will be a miss first and foremost because he has quality, especially in europe. He sits and breaks up play superbly and always plays a neat pass. If we then had the players to go ahead and attack thats when his game would be appreciated more. But when he does the breaking up of play he practically has Ferguson tackling him to take the ball of him as he wants the glory. If we are going to play 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 next season or more so a 4-2-3-1 then id have Hemdani and Thomson next to each other then 3 attacking players.
  16. Sionko was another player I liked at Ibrox but was slagged for saying so.
  17. ...With the database.... Anyone else getting this??
  18. I can understand Hemdani sulking though, Going from the POTY 1 season to a scrapegoat the next!! Everyine knows foreign mentality is different and you have to make these players feel wanted. The Scottish harmony would have been different and Hemdani probably felt left out. I think he will be a miss.
  19. Ive read about Boateng being linked today and him being 31 but i thought he was about 35. Anyway he is similar to Faye as a player and Faye was a disaster. I think Harewood would still be a decent signing.
  20. Was just reading this on the BBC, Burley says we are going to go for it! But at the end of the season nobody gives a monkey about a friendly. I was actually planning on watching this game on tv which is on live in S'pore but i wont see buggar all now.
  21. If i was a player there, id be clean in there nailing them
  22. Whereas from a footballing view it may make it fairer, but Im against it from an expats point of view. If countries round the world started saying 55% of workers in my industry have to be locals and 45% expats then certain things would go to shit. If the player / worker is good enough then they are free to stay in any place in there world they like! What happens after that - not allowing Govan citenzens to work in Maryhill???
  23. http://msnsport.skysports.com/story/0,19528,12040_3627940,00.html Pete, who is this guy and will he do well??
  24. The best I saw BF was when Advocaat came, he was only 20 then and in the midfield with Albertz, Gio, Tugay etc he was superb. But at that time he wasnt the central attention and this made his game better IMO. In 2002/03 under Eck he played along side De Boer and got 17 goals although about 9 were pens. Still, he was a better player and again he wasnt centre of everything. IMO he has went downhill since returning and being handed the captaincy straight away. As for winning the title and playing the way we do, those 2 dont have to be exclusive from each other. I just wish we would be more positive and actually have more faith in the players we have to attack more. I have no doubts that most SPL sides would not be able to handle us if we pounded them. But we would probably see the pattern of sides going back to play 10 behind the ball against us. In the last 2 seasons teams havent been afraid to play us and knock the ball about - we need to install fear into the opposition again.
  25. Good review Frankie, when somone puts time into a post like that I think it deserves recognition. I agree with Once a Ranger...Im concerned of our lack of attacking play and have been for a while. Having Ferguson support 1 striker is a no-go IMO. They really must be doing something different in training compared to games. I dont like the fact how certain players dont get chances aswell. But as I put in another thread, this was a 3 step process. Step 1 - Steady the ship - done Step 2 - Get us back challanging - done Step 3 - Winning the title again - next!! You can have a step 4 of playing better football aswell but winning the title comes first for me.
