Havent looked at a coupon yet but I almost bought a German top today plus a Spanish top for the misses. I think Im going to back the Germans to win once I see the odds

I cant see Wenger going for Crouch, I think he will go for Martins at Newcastle. The next few weeks is when the transfer market gets active. Everyone has been on holiday for the last month and now that Euro 08 is almost over the targets have been identified. Once the players who were at Euro 08 are back from there few weeks break then transfers will come thick and fast.

Yeah your right Pete. However IMO he isnt showing any signs of improving his game and almost isnt capable of being an all round striker. For me, the best we can get from Boyd without a Laudrup is for him to come off the bench and hope he gives us a goal when we need one, but we have Novo for this who is effective. Other than that I'll take a few million for Boyd.

At least they havent buggered up and moved the Aberdeen game to the Sunday. Plus this gives us an extra day to recover from the CL game for the OF game.

The rotation policy isnt as much as a problem as people make out, its the quality of Liverpool. The guys who come into the first team should still be good enough to beat the lower EPL teams, thats what Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenals 2nd string can do, but Liverpool make 4 changes and they will draw with the likes of Birmingham. They need 3 world class players to assist Gerrard, Torres and Babel. Mascharano is a good anchor but id have Alonso ahead of him. I dont understand why they let Luis Garcia away last year - he was a cracking player

Pete that isnt a bad shout BTW for Hemdani to move back into the defence. He still isnt quick nor the greatest tackler but to read a game and begin passing and play he is top notch. On your previous post you mentioned a back 3 - again that isnt a bad shout seen as we are unsure about full backs. Also a Cousin and Velicka partnership would be awesome but I think Cousin is gone TBH. At RB i am really hoping Whittaker plays here. But i fear he is going to be used as a midfielder again and he offers nothing creative there bar 1 amazing solo goal last season. Ferguson is the big question for me. If he is fit and playing to his game then he starts, if he isnt 100% fit then bench him until he is. Id like to see something like this (if we dont get Davis then keep Buffel) ______________________McGregor___________________ Whittaker________Cuellar_________Weir________Papac/Smith ________Ferguson______Davis/Buffel_______Thomson_____ ____Miller/Novo__________Velicka_____________Beasley/Lafferty You could even put Hemdani in for an unfit Ferguson and Darcheville in for Velicka.

Im beginning to think you are Boyd, and Johnny K is your agent. Noboby would know as you have never shown up anywhere Now im getting worried about you visiting me - either you are Boyd coming to kick my head in or you are Jon gagging for a ladyboy!! But cracking news on McGregor! I was worried who was going to replace him had he left after him improving his game greatly last season. 15 months ago I was worried about our keeper position but McGregor stood up and now he has a chance to go on a cememt himself as Goalie No.2! He has got quite a bit to reach Gorams level but last season he really impressed me.

If Cardiff come back in with a 3.5 million bid then just as Craig says we should bite there hand off. Winning the league is going to be all about how we play as a team and Boyd just doesnt fit into that at the moment unless we get a Laudrup or Gascoigne to set up the chances. Negri took the huff in the 97/98 season while WS was still in charge and we didnt see him again until well into DA era. Mols joined in 99/00 season (DA's 2nd). So they were both still on the books at the same time. One thing i disagreed with on Craigs earlier post was this: Mols scored 14 or 15 goals between August and October that season he was injured. Not only was he scoring but he was creating. I was at the Motherwell game where he bagged all 4 goals and made them himself - Boyd could only dream of that. Had Khan not injured Mols i think he would have got approx 30 goals that season.

Personally id like to see them both stay and get action for us next season along with Fleck. Lennon could possibly go out on a 3 or 6 month loan but Furman could come in handy for our midfield (or lack of it). If Fleck is good enough then he is old enough.
-
Jon you might aswell just send Craig the cash now! Craig, shame on you - thats like taking candy from a baby!!! :admin: Hleb was just coming good, but he is another who will realise leaving Arsenal is a mistake - Henry is regretting it to himself i bet!! But Nasri is a straight replacement for Hleb and Rosicky is coming back. Silva can take over from Flamini and IMO is a better player! The experience he has is vital, so Silva next to Fabregas to start with. Walcott can now make the grade up and we will see more from him the same as the CL game at Anfield where he made that goal.
-
Im sure Zidane was 47 million and still stands at the world record today. Imagine if Maradona was playing today!!! I wouldnt like to put a figure on that! I think Ronaldo will stay at Man U for another season and will make a statement about all the speculation being bullshit just to side with the fans again.
-
If he wants 120k Arsenal should just say bye bye. Milan wont pay nothing near that either. And I disagree Jon, if Liverpool sign Downing it will do nothing for them - just yet another good player but not good enough to put Liverpool near the top 3. I hope Wenger pulls something out of the hat again. he was 2 players away from winning the league last season.
-
You missed out Casaraghi, De Livio (nippy little winger) and Ravanelli - they were in good squads aswell.
-
Hopefully its a minor thing, it would be a shame for a great career to end on that note.
-
I dont think Dudek was a disater at all. He was a good keeper and treated a bit unfairly IMO. He played a huge part in the CL final in 2005 with those penalty saves.
-
Thats always been Germanys strong point - they can stop teams playing i.e. Portugal.
-
How typical Rangers would that be!!! Thats the risk with these deals.
-
I think Spurs was the one he would have went to aswell, im glad they signed Gomes. Newcastle still have Given and Harper so if any deal was to come from Newcastle we could get one of them in exchange. I dont think Man City will do aswell as they did as the start of last season, Hughes will just make them hard to beat for starters. But i cant see AM going there. So if we get AM in between the sticks and he gives us the same as last season il be delighted - he was superb last season!
-
If he wont be a starter then 3million+ is quite a fee!! That should have been put into a certain first team starter
-
I dont think it was the system that put him off the rails, he has done well for Scotland and Wigan in a similar role. I was happy with him signing and he got off to a flyer but for me he has just looked unfit for a while. I still think he could be an asset for us so wouldnt like him to leave just yet, he is just another who we dont know his best position. He is ok on the left but he doesnt have pace to beat a man like Beasley. He suits the target man position but then we have to resort to long balls which i dont want to see.
-
Im looking forward to the final. I havent sat down and watched 1 full match yet but Il be getting up to watch this final. 2 big teams!! Spain have the chance to finally answer there critics of being underachievers. And many thought it would be there year this time. But you cant rule out Germany - they can stop any team playing there game. Tough one to call but id like to see the Spanish win for a change, however I dont mind Germany so I may have a flutter on them.
-
The Italians can be one of the biggest disappointments yet on there day they can be the best. I think they missed a leader like Totti in this tournament but they just dont have that world beater like the did in the past like Roberto Baggio. In fact in the 90s they would have 5 or 6 world class players like Vialli etc.
-
They have been a laughing stock for 2 years now and its a shame. If there was 1 club who was capable of making the SPL a 3 horse race then its Hearts. They challenged in 1998 and have done so a couple of times in the last 5 years. If Burley had stayed in charge of them a few seasons ago I think they could have possibly won the league (We were poor that year)!! I dont know what enters these guys heads other than dictation.
-
I agree with your post Craig, except the top line here. Sticking with the old guard maybe the faithful thing to do but it proved to be the wrong one. Managers shouldnt really have sentiment in mind and hope that those players come good. The 9IAR team were very close to 10IAR but sticking with a few too many of the old guard plus background interference cost us then. Last season it cost us the league. I dont care about the UEFA so much - getting to the final was brilliant but to lose a 9 point lead in the league is tragic. So as you say, off form players HAVE to be dropped next season regradless if it is Ferguson, Cuellar (unlikely), Miller or Fleck. If they are in the team ant not doing it they need a seat on the sidelines - which can sometimes do good!

I wish we would go Adidas like the Chelsea strips, they have been well tidy in the last few years. The Umbro stuff is tight and elasticy, its the same as my West Ham kits. As for finding a Rangers top abroad, Ive never seen one in Singapore or Malaysia, plus im in Hong Kong at the moment and havent seen 1.
