Makelele will be leaving Chelsea. If they get Kaka then Id back them to win the league. Ballack is now on top of his game, Deco is world class and Kaka is as good as they get. Add the steel that Essien gives plus Joe Cole's quality and Mikel and thats the best you get. Plus they have Malouda. They can let Lampard and Makelele leave with that midfield. If they let Drogba go for 20 million then thats great business aswell. Anelka on his day is as good, and Shevchenko is still world class.

Sir Awex has made a career out of things like this. Berbatov would link well with Rooney but Tevez and Rooney had a good partnership at times last season. I rate Keane highly and he would be good for Liverpool. Keane will guarentee you goals at any level and has a great attitude. He and Torres would be tough to stop, but I hope he stays at Spurs with Berbatov. If Spurs can get a top midfielder then they will be top 6 no problem

Sorry took my post out as I messup with an edit and was practically naming the whole squad and a bit of a guess Fleck I can really see as a fringe player this year and will get run outs when games have been won and he will be in the squad due to the U21 rule. I actually havent seen Fleck and dont know whether he is right, left or central. Does he come deep??? I get the impression of a young Rooney?? But my point was I dont see us having the midfield personnel for a 4-4-2 at the moment due to no natural right winger and no creative player. There is the option of 2 holding midfielders (Hemdani and Thomson) and play 2 wingers - one which would have to be Novo at the moment.

I left that point out on purpose but it did cross my mind.

I dont like this decision for a few reasons. 1) It should be Carlos hands down. 2) Is this saying Weir will be a first choice start next season? If thats the case why we searching for a centre half. 3) He is 38 and hardly a solution, surely it should be given to Carlos or Thomson etc so they can take it after Ferguson moves on. 4) Weir was close to leaving the club a few weeks ago, does WS feel Weir is more important than younger members of the squad who are on long term deals? 5) Comparing Weir and Maldini is a laugh. 6) It shows you need to be ULTRA experienced (old) in WS's book before playing and captaining. Im not getting at Weir, he will be great back up next season and on his day he would be a good captain but that would have been 5-10 years ago.

Im hoping that statement says Whittaker will play at full back becuase I just dont see him as a midfielder. McCulloch has to get his finger out, he was poor from January onwards. Thomson has the world at his feet and a huge chance to cement his place in the midfield for the next 5-8 years. He didnt over impress me in the games i saw him but thats because he does a lot of ugly work. I dont think he and Ferguson are correct in the same midfield unless you have a creative guy also, so with BF out for 3 months now is the chance for Thomson to show he doesnt need BF.

West Ham might finish in the top 4 of the rest taking Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal away. But im not convinced we are going to improve this season. We havent signed anyone yet let 3 good squad players go. Infact Solano would have started most games for me based on last seasons quality. We missed Bellamy loads when he got injured. Had he, Ashton and Bowyer stayed fit all season we may have got into europe. If we get those 3 fit and Dyer and Faubert back then things will look much better, but our defence is still a total bombscare IMO. And now there is talk of Rob Green not getting an improved deal which is crazy. I'll move this into football chat seen

1 hr 10 min journey - your boat must be pretty quick captain!!! Enjoy it sir

And the expression your handing out is that your not a fan of the team as you obviously dont want him to suceed. Will you still boo him if/when he scores against Celtic??
-
I have to say Im quite surprised by this thread as I actually havent seen much negativity. This might be due to the fact im on the other side of the globe and dont get the British Media plus I only come on here for Rangers chat so havent really seen or heard any other negativity. All Ive seen on here is people give there opinions about what / who is good enough (or should I say not good enough) for Rangers. - I dont think there is anything wrong with that at all. Certain posts have gone over the top like admitting to booing or wishing an injury on your own players - thats not real fans IMO. I admit to more than giving my opinion on certain players but ive never got personnel on them, just stated my thoughts on their game - yet people tell me to give it a rest. People need to realise what getting personnel actually is. I agree with what Wija says though, when you go back to Scotland there is a negative atmosphere in general but this is society thing more than anything else and not just directed at our club.

Good post Frankie, it just comes down to the time of year: We're all depressed with no football But id also say we all expect high standards of Rangers and we are in a bit of denial in the financial era we are in. We all still hope the Murray and Smith will pull a Laudrup, Gazza or Albertz (people forget it was WS who signed the Hammer) out of the hat. We are getting frustrated by the lack of encouragment and excitement the team has - we have absolutely nobody who we think can turn on a bit of magic for us. Yes we have a few young guys who look good but many just know for fact there game time will be limited. I agree patience is needed, i still think we'll add to the squad, I also agree pre season friendlies are for nothing else than shaking rust off the players after 5 weeks on the beach.

It would appear that Juffery is right, we need a full back. Papac looks comfortable at LB but if he gets injured I cant see S Smith playing too many games. Whittaker can play both sides and I thought looked better at LB but somehow I get the feeling he will be used as a midfielder and we'll see Dailly playing RB on occasion.
-
I dont rate Adam, Burke and Boyd but id never boo them, in fact I always want them to prove me wrong. Its disgusting to boo a player who is trying to win YOUR team a game. If I was going to make games this season Id try to counter act your nonsense by cheering Miller at every opportunity to show the guy he isnt hated by the straight thinking fan. And the sad thing is id probably get turned on in the stands.
-
Eh? Who isnt supporting the TEAM? Just because I dont rate a player is keeping us in the dire? How many fans dont rate Miller plus how many will boo him - lots!!! You wont hear me boo Boyd, I just dont rate him - simple as! And I'll continue to post that regardless. I also think having players that arent good enough IMO is part of the reason for us being in this dire - our standard isnt good enough and thats not singling Boyd out, that goes for quite a few players. We still need at LEAST 3 players who will walk into the starting XI.
-
It was beyond a joke 10 years ago, now you can almost expect it. What happened to Lafferty?? I agree with Gav, and have done for a while - S Smith will be lucky to become our regular LB again. Even if he gets fit, playing a run of matches is another matter. Im not bothered about Carlos missing out, id rather he not be risked.
-
But sometimes having heart isnt good enough. If I played for Rangers id be putting an unbelievable amount of heart into it and im sure everyone on this forum would as well, but does that makes us good enough? And I think he has had more that a fair crack of the whip. If your talking about players who havent had a fair crack of the whip the Gow, Buffel and Sebo come to mind.

The areas that Boyd needed to improve were brought up well before last season started and he just hasnt improved them. we saw a bit more effort from him in a few games but his first touch is still like he is playing with a concrete ball. If Cousin has a changed attitude then he will be an asset for the team!
-
His game wont be suited in La Liga, i think he'll struggle there. Henry had a poor season and he is miles better.
-
Against Falkirk or St Mirren then id go for Boyd or Cousin. Against Celtic or a decent european outfit id go for Cousin or Novo
-
Ive gone for Miller as I think he will play every week and he will be desperate to play well. Velicka will be a good player for us but he will be more of a No.10 holding it up for others to get in play. I also think if Nacho got a run through the middle he would get a lot of goals. That is some amount of strikers, and Barry hit it on the head we dont have a creator for them. UFC - Boyd worth 20 million???? Thats nonsense IMO. Was Kenny Deuchar worth 3 million for scoring goals in Division 3 - No! Therefore Boyd isnt worth 20 million, if fact it would take about 5 Boyds to get that value. He can score goals against Falkirk etc. If the Premier League clubs rated him they would be biting our hands of at 3 million over and over again.
-
Either that he is building up Hadrian's wall so its Boyd proof!!! Its Cousins attitude that concerns me though if he is staying on. I dont doubt his ability one bit. If he is a reformed character then he must stay and play but if not he has to go. The fact he head butted one player then went for Wilkie in the very next was the mark for me. You can let a player off with that once but to do it in the next game was crazyness.
-
I kinda of disagree. I think your history is important as its what builds a foundation to your club. Look at Leeds - In 2002 they would be saying look how good we are at present, then 2 years later they are dropping down the leagues. Chelsea would be the same if Roman left, but you know Man Utd, Arsenal and probably Liverpool wont be like that because their history and foundation.

Balde is an animal Pete. It would be interesting to see how many would take him though. I dont think he is a good player but he wins every ball in the air coz he attacks it and player.
-
The Mhanks are becoming active: Balde is allowed to leave on a free if he finds another club - I guess there will be no Balde Fanni next season then. Im surprised Walter isnt in for Balde seen as he is a centre half in his 30s. Gabriel Tamas from Auxerre is linked with them aswell. Marcus Bent joins Kevin Philips at Birmingham
