It should be different though. I can understand that with football managers but not players. BA Commercial managers cant be substituted and arent in a team of 11 and a squad of 20. Im sure that BA manager may have a few bad days at the office but if he swaps to Air France then he may rise again and show his talent. Then BA may be thinking - why did we let him go. My point is if Cuellar has a bad August to October then come first Nov 1 people will say for him to get out the team - rightly so on form but that doesnt mean he shouldnt get his place back as we all know how good he can be. Hemdani was in for 1 game then out for 4 last season so I can totally understand why he was rusty and inconsistant last season. Plus he had Barry Ferguson practically tackling him for the ball once Hemdani did the good work. Boumsong was the same but worked in the other way. We got him and he was brilliant, he left and we got a huge fee for him and his career took a nose dive so it does work both ways. But Im all for giving players 2nd chances especially when they have quality and Hemdani has that IMO. The likes of Burke is another matter - he has had chance after chance after chance and just cant cut it. If Hemdani is the same then yeah sell him

We should always be setting our standards as high as possible. Financially we are coming down to the level of the Championship, but most of that isnt our fault. But many of the Championship clubs are in huge debt - Coventry! But player wise we can still unearth a better standard of players. As an institution the Rangers are easily still a top club. On the playing field we are in a generation of fall back so the standard of player will drop.

Im mainly getting at players here. There have been plenty of players who have had a great season with us but as soon as their performance drops they are wanted out the door. The latest player to likened to this is Hemdani. He was very good in 06/07 but because he had one average season last year people think he should be surplus to requirements. This actually bugs me quite a lot and shows fans wont give players 2nd chances to get their top form back and the fact they have quality goes out the door. I wonder what would happen if Cuellar has a few bad games at this start of this season. He will go from being a hero to having the boo boys on his back in no time. Yet look how much he is worshipped at the moment!! Fans dont actually know whats going on inside a players head. They could be suffering from depression, lack of confidence or any other problem, so it should be up to the other players, staff, management and fans to get behind that player. Its the same on reverse. Average players are not liked until the give outstanding form - Hutton and McGregor come to mind here. Obviously we dont have hindsight and dont realise potential like Arsene Wenger can but there is no excuse when it is the other way round with a player going from good to poor form.

Agree with Pete and Cammy on this about the titles. If those 2 last day title wins didnt go our way then Celtic would be going for 9IAR this coming season - thats totally not acceptable. But the fact is they are not going for that target as they ran out of steam in 2005 the same as we did last season. But we just havent been close enough in the other seasons. There was 3 or 4 season when we finished a crazy 17+ points behind them. If we arent going to win the league then the least we expect is to be in with a shout come April. Its been over by christmas in a few occasions. The title this season is a must.

It is a tricky one but Id say it is someone who isnt out of his depth playing for the club and is capable of steering the team to be a winning one (winning trophies). People may also say they need to have thay bit off quality off the park like Numan or Laudrup who are gentlemen but I cant agree with that as Goram and Gascoigne were as good as we have had and their social lifes are well publicised. Your comment on Laudrup is a bit harsh. He did brilliantly in Germany before moving to Italy and was superb for Denmark at the highest level. Italy obviously didnt suit his game. He did ok for Chelsea but again they had a team full of Laudrups and had the rotation thing. London wasnt also the city for him.

Im not sure I want anymore players from Hibs and Hearts. We are signing far too many players who have potential only and havent made the grade. We are crying out for that bit of experience and quality who can guarantee you that bit extra. We'll all be right behind the team come August and I think the Boo boys will gradually go off Miller given time but there will always be some victoria neds who boo him.

Man City offered 25.5 million plus 200k a week and his is going to Milan. Players get slaughtered for saying money talks but Ronaldinho obviously fancies Milan ahead of City. Milan arent even in the Champions League this season so fair play to him.

On the winning and losing thing Im totally with Barry here. Its not our job to impress the rest of Europe by any means - buggar that!!! But at the same time Id like WS to try and play more attacking football for me and the rest of the Rangers fans plus 2 reasons besides the obvious ones 1) I think if we upped our game especially domestically we would have far too much for any other team to cope 2) Teams dont seem to fear coming to Ibrox or playing Rangers anymore, they actually relish it and have a go at us now. We need to install a fear factor back into them like WS first era and DA reign.

Scott Carson is going to Stoke for 4 million Liverpool wanted 8 or 9 million in January from Villa. Strange one!! He isnt a bad keeper but not as highly rated as Ben Foster or Rob Green IMO.

This is a great point. There is so many comments about just making it into the CL is the purpose at times. IMO id rather 1 great season and win the thing than compete in it every year to extent. Obviously the cash situation and difference between the top leagues and the others has an effect on this where we simply need the cash more than anything else. It really depends on how you look at it last year. From a gradual stage process then last season was certainly a success. We got back to challenging domestically and won trophies again. But from another point of view it was thrown away. And Walters reluctance to use certain players and tactics could even have cost us the treble or quadriple. On a percentage scale (Calscot is probably the one to work out the facts here) then if we progress the same amount this season then Im sure it will make us Champions this time next year. However a few signings with quality and pressence is definatly required before the start of the season or we may see us dropping points in stupid games again on a regular basis.

As poor as that it, it is bloody funny But Cammy is right, unless we are buying players who will walk straight into the starting XI and are of higher quality then we shouldnt be wasting money on more expensive stop gaps. We're better off continuing signing the usual run of the mill SPL players to save the cash. As much as I am against signing SPL players id rather pay them peanuts than sign the likes of Faye again who would be on much higher wages. But a better solution would be to play some youngster, get a proper scouting system set up and find some real talent and spend whatever money we do have on higher quality.

Cant agree more with Ian's post. I like Miller as a player and think he is the kind of player we needed in certain games last season. He is never a world beater but if he brings his Scotland for to Ibrox (which WS got out of him) then im sure he is going to play well for us.

Id rather sign the likes of Diamond for 750k and pay him peanuts compared to Shittu if he is just going to be a stop gap regardless of how much a cock he is. IMO we should be looking for another Cuellar or even a player half as good. I dont think Shittu was good enough now that Carlos has set the standards. Id draw the line at Lee Wilkie though

Fulham are getting 2 players from West Ham this week - Zamora and Paintsil. Paintsil is an attacking right back who I rated but Curbs didnt - maybe we should have looked at him! Rob Green stated he doesnt want to go but there is a personality clash between him and Curbs, but i expect him to stay and sign a new contract. Rumours are 50k a week, so dont think Alexander is going to West Ham

Pete your well right about Beasley - so injury prone. I think its coz he is too lightweight. But then Darcheville is too bulky and gets injured due to that. If we are going to get jinxed again with these injuries to add to the likes of Naismith and Burke who are out long term then Im baffled as to why we would let Buffel and Gow go. We obviously cant afford replacements.

Not managing to get a Watford player is embarrassing but its also no major loss. Id rather the money go to a midfielder. If we really need to sign another centre half then we should set our sights higher. If its a stop gap player then we should go for Zander Diamond or someone like that who wont cost nearly as much. But im hoping Webster gets fit

I see it that you dont need 4 defenders in the SPL so going with 3 gives you an extra man further up the park. Just depends on if your full backs play as attackers aswell, but in some cases WS has played 4 centre halfs across the back and you dont need that.
