Full strength aswell I think they will struggle this season after selling Nicholson and another or 2.

Im sure it closes the last day in August. I know he is trying to reduce the squad but half of that 42 players arent good enough anyway. We just need a bit more quality to mix with the youth coming through. The likes of Ljungberg need to buck up his ideas after a terrible first season.

Where is Nacho getting this from, Ferguson is not creative at all when in the final 3rd. He is much more suited to a deeper role now of picking the ball up and passing it wide etc. Unless we hurry up and get 2 midfielders in then we will be struggling -

Well until we sign someone with his ability i'll continue to say its a huge loss - thats my opinion. You know what I think of you and Boyd. If your happy with the dross options in midfield at the moment then thats up to you.

Ive no idea where we are going to get them though. We dont seem to want to even pay for Davis unless its a swap for Boyd or Cousin. Furman is 1 midfielder who can come into thoughts.

He didnt get picked out for messing anything up so maybe he did ok Id rather he play there in his natural position than at RB where he cant even take a throw. But he is a squad player at best at the moment, but a few more games at centre half and we may know a little more.

Agreed Pete. Anyway back to negativity on the park. I know yesterdays game was a pre-season friendly but at the moment I still dont see anything that is going to improve our football next season. We looked so flat again and had no ideas. The 2 most encouraging things at the moment are Velicka looks like he will be very suited to us and Fleck is on the fringes. But im very concerned about the midfield. Im not sure signing Davis solves things. He will help but Id say we still need another even if we Get Davis.

This guy has impressed in 2 games but you have to remember he is way ahead of the rest in terms of fitness due to the Norweigan season starting in March. But he will give us something different and I like the look of him. If we could get 2 midfielders in and play Velicka and a reformed Cousin than that would be a great option.

I think a slight over reaction but it wont be if we continue into the season like this. I watched the 2nd half and the thing that stood out for me was the way the Germans passed the ball. When one of there players was in possession he had at least 3 players moving around him to give the ball to. When we got the ball our players stand still. Its the same when I watch Scotland. These games are to get players fitness up but id still be playing attacking football in friendlies. Our midfield just lacks so many options its almost non exsistant. We all know how much we need a creative midfielder but id say we need more than 1. We need a power house in there plus someone who can run and move. Selling Buffel was crazy IMO when all we needed to do is pay 400k!!!

Good stuff Pete, it seems the Germans know what they are doing and have everything arranged to a T. I cant see that in Govan, Murray took away our ticket office and car park!! I think the atmosphere wasnt great due to it being a friendly and not near a full house but the stadium is built in a way where it would be terrific in big games. The stands dont look as steep in your pictures as on TV and the top tier could easy have another couple of rows to make it higher. But it certainly seems a great set up there. It wouldnt be too difficult to turn Ibrox into a stadium like that at all bar money of course.

Velicka hits the post - bassa. He looks like he will be a great signing, he is powerful and can play right across the front. BTW, according to posts on the link I think Celtic are losing 3-1 at Fulham and are fighting each other inthe stands

Just watching the Schalke friendly and looking at the stadium. I liked it before but I think its superb now. Great atmosphere and I like the steep stands even though they still breathe down on the pitch. It wouldnt take too much to modify Ibrox to be similar to this. Plus it holds 61,000. Pete, if you made it to the game, did you get pictures? Yeah I quite fancy the 4-2-3-1 at the moment or the 4-3-3. I can see Miller fit in any but I also want to see Velicka in there.

Makelele will be leaving Chelsea. If they get Kaka then Id back them to win the league. Ballack is now on top of his game, Deco is world class and Kaka is as good as they get. Add the steel that Essien gives plus Joe Cole's quality and Mikel and thats the best you get. Plus they have Malouda. They can let Lampard and Makelele leave with that midfield. If they let Drogba go for 20 million then thats great business aswell. Anelka on his day is as good, and Shevchenko is still world class.

Sir Awex has made a career out of things like this. Berbatov would link well with Rooney but Tevez and Rooney had a good partnership at times last season. I rate Keane highly and he would be good for Liverpool. Keane will guarentee you goals at any level and has a great attitude. He and Torres would be tough to stop, but I hope he stays at Spurs with Berbatov. If Spurs can get a top midfielder then they will be top 6 no problem

Sorry took my post out as I messup with an edit and was practically naming the whole squad and a bit of a guess Fleck I can really see as a fringe player this year and will get run outs when games have been won and he will be in the squad due to the U21 rule. I actually havent seen Fleck and dont know whether he is right, left or central. Does he come deep??? I get the impression of a young Rooney?? But my point was I dont see us having the midfield personnel for a 4-4-2 at the moment due to no natural right winger and no creative player. There is the option of 2 holding midfielders (Hemdani and Thomson) and play 2 wingers - one which would have to be Novo at the moment.

I dont like this decision for a few reasons. 1) It should be Carlos hands down. 2) Is this saying Weir will be a first choice start next season? If thats the case why we searching for a centre half. 3) He is 38 and hardly a solution, surely it should be given to Carlos or Thomson etc so they can take it after Ferguson moves on. 4) Weir was close to leaving the club a few weeks ago, does WS feel Weir is more important than younger members of the squad who are on long term deals? 5) Comparing Weir and Maldini is a laugh. 6) It shows you need to be ULTRA experienced (old) in WS's book before playing and captaining. Im not getting at Weir, he will be great back up next season and on his day he would be a good captain but that would have been 5-10 years ago.

Im hoping that statement says Whittaker will play at full back becuase I just dont see him as a midfielder. McCulloch has to get his finger out, he was poor from January onwards. Thomson has the world at his feet and a huge chance to cement his place in the midfield for the next 5-8 years. He didnt over impress me in the games i saw him but thats because he does a lot of ugly work. I dont think he and Ferguson are correct in the same midfield unless you have a creative guy also, so with BF out for 3 months now is the chance for Thomson to show he doesnt need BF.

West Ham might finish in the top 4 of the rest taking Chelsea, Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal away. But im not convinced we are going to improve this season. We havent signed anyone yet let 3 good squad players go. Infact Solano would have started most games for me based on last seasons quality. We missed Bellamy loads when he got injured. Had he, Ashton and Bowyer stayed fit all season we may have got into europe. If we get those 3 fit and Dyer and Faubert back then things will look much better, but our defence is still a total bombscare IMO. And now there is talk of Rob Green not getting an improved deal which is crazy. I'll move this into football chat seen
