Cant wait to start the weekend betting again. I havent looked at odds yet for the season but I may have a try at an accumulator for the 4 English leagues. Id say Chelsea or Man U for the title. Leeds or Leicester should be a banker for League 1. Darlington for League 2. But the championship could be a tough call. Real Madrid for the Champions League at 8/1 isnt a bad bet but Im going to go for Inter Milan with Jose to win it.

Id rather get him in sooner than 1st September Mac. If it means an extra 200k or the likes then having a player to help us qualify for the group stages of the CL is woth far more. Also, a good start to the SPL is vital and a must. The opening 4 games are tricky so we need strong options. At the same time 4 million is still a lot for him, hopefully Fulham accept the 3 million.

Encouraging to see Webster get another run out, the more he plays the less rusty he will be. Also good to see Furman, Lennon and Fleck play and Lafferty making an appearance. Interesting Cousin plays aswell. Is he still in WS plans??!!

Didnt Middlesboro table a 3 million bid??
-
Told you he was shite Thats you and Jon on suicide watch
-
Cousin playing is quite interesting!! I read the squad is divided into 2, half for this game and the other half for Clyde

Seems the Boruc style is rubbing off, Caldwell in training http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/7519002.stm BENDER:

The BBC buggared up then, they had it on there website earlier that it was at Ibrox

Edgar Davids would be superb for a season, his experience would be benficial to the team. Even though he is more a holding midfielder we should always be happy to take a player who would improve the XI and he would certainlt do that. Cant see us getting him though as wages would be a problem and as Jon says a few clubs would be willing to pay big money for him

People seem to say this a lot, and also when we are selling players that if they were that good we wouldnt be selling them. Fact is every player on the planet is for sale if 1) the price is right or 2) the player wants a move. Look at Ronaldo for Man U. He is currently the best in the world and Man Utd dont want to sell him but the move to Real Madrid just doesnt go away. Arsenal just lost Hleb - a fine player but he wanted to move so it went through.

Anyone going along to Ibrox tonight? Laudrup and Albertz are both playing for Clyde.
-
Play him behind the striker in a 4-5-1. Thats obviously WS's favoured formation and he would fit there perfectly. Give him a free role to move to either wing.

I thought everyone in the highlands knew each other so how can you go missing Welcome along

Yip i was the same last night my time for posting, kept saying this forum is not accepting new posts. You just know WS will let him play again though. I felt the same last season, i was fizzing with him and the fact he walked straight back in the team. But I still rate him highly when he wants to play, and for me the important thing is qualifying for the CL proper and winning the league. If that means Cousin plays again then so be it. TBH - not that id ever boo a player but Cousin deserves to be booed more than Miller.

Surely 1 from JCD, Cousin or Boyd will leave before the start of the season anyway?? We have about 8 strikers at the moment. Im surprised to see Cousin still with us, perhaps he has improved. At the moment Ive no doubt that Velicka and Cousin would be our best option upfront so long as Cousin gave his all.

No i was merely picking the quote from Hateley about his goals. Its not just down to Boyd though - I admit that. Its down to a lack of quality throughout the squad, WS resisiting to play others last season and throw the fixture pile up in aswell. He may possibly have a potentially good partnership with Velicka but right now I cant see where the midfield fits around that. Ive said all along for Boyd to be in the team we need creators around him so he can just poach and nothing else.

Signing Varynen, Davis and Lovenkrands would make me feel much more optimistic about the new season. That would be 3 attacking midfielders. We could then let 1 or 2 others leave and just add the centre half that WS craves. Add Velicka to those 3 and possibly Lafferty then the summer signings would be pretty impressive.
-
Here we go again, Boyd and his 2 cheerleaders His goals have been so vital we havent won a league title with him I repeat if we get another offer for 3 million id bite the hand but at the same time if he stays as a squad player then so be it, he will be handy in certain SPL games.

Sounds like he would be a good signing then. We need 2 midfielders so he and Davis would be a start. And hopefuly we'd see them in the same line up
-
I dont know anything about him. Pete, is he attacking? Do we not have a database with players available or does WS have a list of 3 players he goes after time and time again.
-
Id take Lovenkrands back straight away. I think he would be perfect sitting behind a striker(s) in a 4-5-1. He can easy play through the middle and move to either wing.

We miss the creative spark of Barry Ferguson, says Rangers star Nacho Novo

Agree with Wija that someone should step up to the plate. Only Thomson is capable in the centre. WS has already made a comment about McCulloch and Adam to step up but IMO they are nowhere near the answer to being central midfielders. UCF is correct already. Fulham wont budge on the fee, they have the likes of Middlesboro who have been rumoured to offer more than us and they got knocked back. Anyone think that being loyal to players last season is back firing on WS now as he doesnt know what the other options from last season can do for him? -
I beg to differ but wont start the 867th thread about it. But disagree on your point about Buffel having a poor attitude. He dug in and played in reserve matches and never made any noises - he was ready to play, its just he didnt get a game because of the 400k fee we had to pay Feyenoord. Now that 400k fee looks peanuts compared to what we are going to have to replace him with! We cant even come up with money for Davis thus far. What we should have done with Buffel is be honest and say your not playing league matches due to the fee, then asked him to take a drop of wages by a few grand (still more than he is getting in Belguim) and paid the 400k fee - that would have saved us searching for a 4 million pound creative midfielder.
