  1. Why does he wear No.01 on the back?
  2. Yeah 28 years since they beat Newcastle at home...you would have been in your 20s then eh jon!!
  3. Finishes 1-1 at Goodison. 2-1 Sunderland - Richardson just had an absolute screamer of a free kick. Makes up for his hard luck last week when his first free kick against fulham hit the post 3 times, then his 2nd went in but was ruled out for nothing.
  4. 2 early K/offs. Currently Everton 1-1 Man Utd Sunderland 1-1 Newcastle Later games West Brom v Hull and Blackburn v Middlesboro Could be in for 4 draws today
  5. Gribz

    No Barry

Sensible decision IMO and a tight rough away game like Hamilton wouldnt be the best place for him to return. He'd be better of in a home match where we control the pace and play so he can adjust into the game.
  6. Ok kinda got an idea in the long term here. Gersnet should maybe in the future buy a ST and it could be rotated / balloted between members who have "shares" in it. For eg if any of the expats on here are in town then it would be ideal for them to go to the game and meet up with Frankie and his crew at that end of the ground. It doesnt just have to be people living abroad, there are plenty here who would like to go to the odd game who cant and they would get there chance aswell. Id certainly be up for this. Thoughts???
  7. If Ferguson comes back in place of Thomson and doesnt perform then WS has to eat humble pie. Im not Thomsons biggest fan but i would agree with Beattie that i would like to see a proper 4-3-3. Ferguson is 30 now and Thomson is around 23, but Thomson isnt near the player Ferguson was at that age. BUt he may be the type of player who gets better with age. But being dropped for someone on reputation is harsh for any player. ID rather see Hemdani get sold first - he is a player i rate and like but he isnt going to feature so id get him off the books first
  8. I found the appointment bizarre in the first place considering the amount of money QPR have. Dowie is only a championship manager at best and QPR have huge ambitions. In normal days this would be a poor poor decision considering they are doing ok, but these money men dont really care and can change things around at any time. Ive always had a soft spot for QPR and wanted them to get back up to top flight football, but not so much since the takeover
  9. He's another pap who needs to keep his mouth shut at times. WS is spot on here....Man U just put 4 past West Brom last weekend and I didnt hear Ince say Men against Boys. And a few weeks ago Man U won at Blackburn 2-0, lets see if they can win by more than that at Parkhead. Im not one for defending Celtic, but I am up for defending Scottish teams and 2 of Man Utds goals were offside. There is no way his Blackburn side would beat either of the OF IMO.
  10. Agreed....next thing we know there would be transfers between national teams.
  11. I kinda disagree. Everyone knows Walter has never been into youth and trying them in the first team. Fleck is the obvious pick as his form has been raved about, yet how many first team apperances as he made this season? Yet the likes of Adam are playing on a regular basis.
  12. Did he not score another belter against East Stirling also? But 75% of his season was well below average and he needs to convince a lot of Bears. Id still not rule him out of the left midfield in the more physical games but he is way down the pecking order for me. Im itching to see Aaron get a game and she should be played ahead of a few others. If Walcott can play when he was 16 then Aaron should be getting a game for us now at what 19?
  13. Agreed, and Tevez!! Sorry but Drogba is the best "lone" striker in the world right now...(except Boyd eh Jon??)
  14. Hello GF.... Sorry to hear ur giving up your season ticket. There is no longer the ticket area but il put a copy of this into the Rangers section aswell. BTW, where is your seat situated in the ground?
  15. Just means we get to wind him up even more
  16. Becks is in a bit of a no lose situation with the cash. However he hasnt been performing for LA and they play in a level not near Serie A, La Liga or the Premier League. Footballing wise he should have stayed in europe but money wise he is silly rich. I agree with Gav, im surprised to see him still involved with England and the fact Owen isnt involved shows its maybe a move Capello has been forced to make. Would be interesting to see him at Milan
  17. Barton - I want to be role model....best of luck son http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/n/newcastle_united/7685293.stm
  18. Interesting to see his opinion if he re-signs him
  19. COULD being the right word....if they keep up there lucky form then they will. They somehow got 6 points in the first 2 games of the season when they deserved zero. Chelsea should stuff them on Sunday, and im looking forward to the game.
  20. Only got 1 win this season...an 8 fold during international weekend which still didnt pay out much.
  21. Arsenal are so frustrating. If they play like that every game then they would be unstopable but they will probably lose this weekend (mind you there record is pretty poor against the Hammers ). BUt id love to see them blow Chelsea and Man U away with another season like 2004. The sooner Liverpool are out of the title race the better
  22. I suppose this game deserves a wee thread. Cant see anything other than a home win. It would be nice to see Rooney hit top form and bang a hattrick in.
  23. Yeah but given this length of time on the sidelines, surely his other injury has been cleared up? I dont know about this Frankie. I do see what your saying about having Thomson being more a protective player but in matches especially at Ibrox I dont think a defensive midfielder is required. I think having Davis in the team with BF and Mendes would allow them to do their thing. IF we go back to 5 man midfield then id rather see the old 3-5-2 than 4-5-1 unless we get the 4-5-1 right which has been discussed many a time on here. A 4-5-1 has to have 2 natural players who can get out wide and also switch the system to a 4-3-3. A 3-5-2 allows Thomson, Ferguson and Mendes as a central trio with Davis/Novo on the right and Beasley/Aaron/Lafferty/Adam on the left. Then you can still have your 2 strikers and dare i say it Boyd would fit in more to this system as you can get away with a poacher with so many other options. I still think we need to get a partnership upfront sorted out. Id like to see Miller with Lafferty or Velicka but Id also like to see Novo possibly get a run upfront again.
  24. Im looking forward to see what BF we are going to get back TBH. He has had the best part of 6 months out (summer then injury) and surely this can help him put fire back into his game. Hopefully it also rids him of the injury which has supposedly been the reason for his inconsistancy. We know he will come straight back into the team so its a MUST he starts playing better on a more regular basis. Everyone knows what he has got in his locker but we just need to see a bit more than the last 2 seasons. Its harsh on Thomson (if he is to make way) but i like the thought of Ferguson, Mendes, Davis and a natural wide player as a 4 man midfield.
  25. Great stuff SA, was thinking about something similiar myself. Its a tough one because it would be a bit of a knee jerk reaction. He would be getting the sack on the basis of 2 football matches - Macedonia and Norway. I could see the argument more if it was San Marino and Malta. And had Iwelumo put that sitter away this topic wouldnt really be spoken about as much at the moment. Yet its plain obvious he does not have control of the dressing room and has taken us off a progressive road that we were currently on. Its like Walter Smith built us the M6 and put us on the track, McLeish despite SOME of his faults as a coach at times took over the steering wheel and kept us on track... but now its seems Burley has taken a total wrong turning onto a country road heading for a cliff. I find his management team a bit baffling. Butcher has done nothing but ruin any club he has been at and Pressley should have had a bit more practice somewhere before walking into a coaching role. 1 minute he is standing next to the players wearing the shirt then the next he is coaching them - someone more proven like Colin Hendry, Richard Gough, Paul Lambert or Gary McAllister would have easily been the better choice. Burley was probably my choice over McGhee, but id have preferred Souness, although Souness didnt want to live in Scotland - whether thats a issue we wont know. But i also couldnt understand why we HAD to go for a scottish boss simply based on Berti Vogts being a nightmare. International results are different to club games as you only a few matches before being out of another tournament for a few years so its vital to get good starts. Why he has re-directed the previous good work is beyond me, but in fairness we are missing a few big players aswell as the form of others being poor. Selections are another baffling thing. To throw Fletcher and Iwelumo into the fray for debuts in such a vital important match is naive. This is what friendlies are for. To take off McFadden - the 1 player who could turn the game - was madness. Everyone on here knows im not a Boyd fan but he is still ahead of Fletcher and Iwelumo in the pecking order and should have been put on. Since Boyd's retirement it has kicked off the topic that playing for your country should be an honour - correctly so - it is. However what about managing your country - that is as big a honour, if not more, so why does the fact that Burley his disrepected Broadfoot and Boyd not get brought up? I really cant see Burley going, although if he went tomorrow i dont think much people would be kicking up a fuss. Going to Holland and getting something isnt impossible as we did the French twice in the last campaign but its a massive ask.
