  1. I just totally wondered where the stumble on the deal had come from after I assumed it was a done deal. I wasnt aware it was Fulham's fault, i thought that they accepted the bid we offered. Right now I also think there would be a proportion of our support who wouldnt be surprised if a deal fell through - Im however not one of them who thinks this one would fall through for any reason coming from Rangers.
  2. Sorry i forgot to get the UK versions of the papers sent across so i could see Fulham taking the blame. I dont care what it sounds like to you but it certainly isnt anything to do with paranoia

    a fresh start ?

IIRC DA played Porrini and Vidmar at full backs when Numan was unavailable but it still worked well. But DA had McCann, Johannsen and Kanchelskis for his wide men also. The quality we have now isnt as good as it was then but its certainly the best options since then simply due to the fact we have went out and bought real midfielders. However all the new signings still have to prove it to us over a season, but this is the best midfield on paper in a good few years.
  4. Is likely to be sorted today? Or does WS maybe feel he has brought 1 option too many and Gers are stalling??
  5. I agree with BTBBilly, a 4-3-3 would be our best bet. Id have Thomson to do the graft and tackling then Mendes and Davis to do the creating in the centre. Then 2 wide players and 1 striker. As many strikers as we have, absolutly NONE of them have shown any good form. Lafferty has started games ok but faded later, Velicka was good preseason but was poor against Falkirk until he scored, and everyone knows I think Boyd makes the team weaker. But its still early days, WS needs to decide who to play with and give it a bash, unfortunaetly he seems to be going with Boyd and Velicka which is a bad option.
  6. I kinda agree Craig, but Im thinking with Mendes in the team it could compliment Davis a lot. The best way to beat Celtic is have a go at them and I dont think they can cope with teams running at them - you saw Dundee Utd give them a hard time on Sunday - therfore the more attacking players in the team the better - so playing Davis and Mendes may be the way to go against them.

    a fresh start ?

All we needed was someone in midfield to take a bit of mantle and stand up, I think we'll get that in Mendes. Agree with comments on Davis above, he can start but doesnt have to be a touchline wide winger, he can play inside right and more central. Under Advocaat we often had 4 real midfielders none who were natural wingers - Reyna or Tugay with Gio, Barry and Albertz and it worked a treat in games. I cant wait to see the team whwn everyone is available
  8. quite a decent team there. I wonder why they played Aaron on the left. Id rather see him tried on the right and let Beasley play left for now. In saying that if he is good then im happy to have him on the left then allow Novo on the right, but i hope Davis isnt going to be wasted there.
  9. Dont really follow it due to the lack of coverage, but I love watching Argentina play. Been watching bits of them at the olympics and they have been superb. They have Brazil in the semis just now and are leadin 2-0 EDIT 3-0 now. Messi and Riquelme are superb
  10. Agreed Calscot, a reduction in wages would be a sensible thing. Im really guessing what the list of players are on so if anyone can correct me please do. Hemdani - 14k Cousin - 14k McCulloch 16k Gow - 7k Darcheville -14k Boyd - 10k Dailly - 9k Burke - 12k Webster - 8k Adam - 6k All that would add up to 106k per week which is 424k per month = just over 5 million per year - as Calscot says
  11. Thats actually a fair amount of money spent, but at the same time its probably not far off (give or take) income??? As for the list of players you have mentioned I wouldnt actually care if ALL of them were sold off over the next 9 months and you could include Webster and Adam in there also. It will free up wages for better players to come in during january and next summer as a total re-build. None of the players in your list seem to be capable of making a difference to the team at the moment. Cousin - Has lots of quality but everyone knows about the personality Hemdani - Has quality but Walter has never liked him. Gow - Still baffled as to why he is still with us McCulloch - Either he gets the form we first saw of him back or he can go on his bike. Im all for 2nd chances but he seems to have had his. But still seems to be one of WS's favourites. Darcheville - Id keep as a impact sub player but he isnt capable of 90 mins and if he starts he dies away after half hour. Dailly - Id keep him for this season as back up centre half. Burke - Should have been sold a while ago. Boyd - Gets goals in certain games but is still a weak link in the team Webster - Life wouldnt be normal with another bizarre signing. Either he gets fit and plays well or his ticket to Bristol is 1 way Adam - Id rather we played 10 men and chimp in the team than him.
  12. Ok, thats quite interesting. Basically the way I saw it was all the talk at the moment was about how poor we are on the pitch and for Murray not dipping his hands in his pockets (until now). So again, if we had signed Edu, Aaron, Davis, Bougherra and Mendes before the Kaunas games would there have been a protest? Im not anti protest, i just want to know the exact reasons for so many speaking out as the anti SDM people have knew about the disasterous things like lack of ticket office for a long time.
  13. Maybe, but if we had made it into the CL proper do you think there would have been talk of a protest?
  14. I still find the Webster thing bizarre. Id have said if he was fit then he would be the best option to partner Bougherra at the moment. Hopefully he goes to Bristol and plays games without injury (tough ask) and if performing well we recall him.
  15. TBH i was tempted to leave Thomson out of my team aswell and put Davis or Aaron in, but I dont know exactly what il be getting from Aaron. But Thomsons dirty work will be needed in a lot of games and id allow the other 2 central midfielders to get as forward as much as possible. As for Cousin, I was only putting him in the team based on him playing at the top of his game. If not then its 1 from Velicka, Lafferty or Miller for me.

    Full Backs

We definatly need cover. Id say RB was needed first as if Papac gets injured Whittaker can switch to LB or we may even get S Smith in for a few games. But if Whittaker gets injured then our answer will be Broadfoot or Dailly - nightmare!!! Suggestions above would be good buys BTW
  17. I dont have a problem with people posting but if it is neds turning up to just mouth off then that will never be taken seriously and actually does a favour for those who are being protested against. Going out of europe was a nightmare and not buying a midfield until its too late was silly, but at the same time it could be the kick up the backside that was needed to win the league. I remember back in 94/95 when in the space of a week we lost the first OF game, got knocked out of the league cup and knocked out of europe by AEK Athens - we still went onto win the league that season. So bascially IMO i wouldnt have protested until the end of this season if we didnt win the league.
  18. Whilst I think there isnt enough footballers getting sacked its a horrendous amount of money. Not sure why Chelsea are getting this amount when it was their decision to sack him. Footballers shouldnt be excempt to being sacked until they just do something illegal. The likes of Joey Barton is another who should have been sacked, in fact Id fire Charlie Adam if i was Gers boss. Its just a sad industry that relys on the money side and sacking a player is writing off a big asset despite them being liabilities at the same time.
  19. I like the look of that team. Until ive really seen Aaron Niguez and Edu play I cant decide. But I also think we can play the 4-5-1 a lot better this season with the options in midfield. Also if Ferguson still has last seasons form then he wouldnt be in my team. I also think Hemdani would do very well in the same midfield as Mendes and perhaps Aaron - but the options are great. _________________McGregor____________________ Whittaker_____Weir_______Bougherra________Papac ________Mendes___Ferguson___Thomson_________ _____Novo_________Cousin_______Beasley________
  20. I dont think anyone is complaining about the signings, but we would just like the dead wood trimmed to save some on wages.
  21. I dont think its ibrox, the last 2 games i went to at Ibrox were in the East enclosure (albeit front row) but when walking out to the seats I cant remember a roof like that. However the blue seats and the gap for the away fans could pass for ibrox
  22. Lots of players pulling out. Not going to be much of a game. I know the international managers have to prepare but its at a silly time. Surely a squad get together and a 'A' team vrs 'B' team would have been better.
  23. Anyone who saw the Rangers game on saturday confirm if any decisions went for or against us.
  24. Gribz

    Aaron Niguez?

Choosing a front 2 is difficult at the moment. A front 2 with a link player would still be a good option as would having the 2 wide players getting forward. Id like to see 2 from Velicka, Novo, Miller and Lafferty. For me, Boyd doesnt cut it to be a first choice starter.
  25. You may have a shout for 4-0 to celtic on the one game, but i think we should concentrate on 100% stonewallers that could change the game. If something is 50% this means it could be 50/50 and may not be fully deserved. A penalty is a penalty whatever. Depending on what everyone else thinks we can change that game to maybe 3-0.
