See what your saying, but players who are in natural positions should be hammered if the have regular stinkers. But players who have been out of positon for a while can be exempt. But we are fighting a losing battle when half the team is out of position.
-
Purely about not being neutral and the fact he had to bring up Celtic. He also mentioned it would ease there CL exit! Im trying not to be paranoid but i find that a little wrong. Surely the Hearts fans would be the first ones to enjoy that win! Maybe i was just in such a pissed off mood during the game that these comments stood out from a commentator who does my head in!
-
Sorry mate but its true! Maybe il change it to Captain Who? But its not all about 1 game! Ferguson has been poor for a long time. I really hoped his long lay off would have recharged his batteries to give us the old BF back but i cant see it. Ok he only returned recently and another he deserves a few more games, but he isnt even on the right road!
-
Just picking your post out Ian bud, not having a dig at you in genereal But WS has put together a squad of good numbers - however he doesnt know what to do with it. For a manager at this stage to not know his best XI and play players out of position is a disgrace. Not being sarcastic here but the top 40 posters on this forum could pick a better team weekly! (id go 3-5-2 btw )
-
Yeah i watched - we both agreed (and other posters) that Ferguson was not at the races - so your point is? Im not blaming Ferguson as much as im blaming WS! WS said he will play when he came back. He should have been eased in and in pecking order. Mendes has struggled since Ferguson returned - coincidence?? Yet Mendes still looks like he has a great touch and pass! He needs a Stuart McCall / Spackman type player to help him - ie Thomson! Possibly Edu? Or i think Hemdani would work will with him.

A team bus full!
-
I continue the sentiment in this thread. Been scratching my head about his signature. Although I do feel sorry for the guy if he is a centre forward. But he doesnt even look a player on the wide roles. He makes Flo look decent!
-
But what about commentators being neutral
-
EHHHHHH!! Didnt you just watch that game?? Did you see Ferguson??? He has been rank for 2 years now!! Mendes started well at Rangers with Davis and Thomson and now you can see he needs help in the centre since Ferguson returned and he look lost! And Adam offers nothing on the left to assist. Hemdani strolled games for us and can understand his frustration. Sorry but i stand by my first post 100%. - Barry Who!!!
-
Id say the injury to Thomson has effected us due to Ferguson being an imposter since returning and Edu not ever having a run yet. The thing that is biting us is WS persistance to play his favourites and others play out of position. Davis, Hemdani and Edu are all capable next to Mendes yet none have had a chance there. Also Mendes looks like he is struggling as he has nobody helping him! Look how well he did with Davis and Thomson in the middle against Celtic. And Burke to come on before novo - whats he thinking!!!! Your right, it was a disaster! Bring back 3-5-2 loyal
-
Is Christophe Berra the answer? He played well today!. Weir is finished, I wouldnt let Broadfoot near the team against top 8 opposition never mind centre half. Id have Dailly ahead of Broadfoot.
-
Didnt see Ferguson today. This is his 3rd or 4th game back yet he isnt near the pace. He is non-exsistant and is making no progress. Mendes and Davis or Hemdani should be the centre midfield pairing. We missed Davis today. And what does it say for Walter when he stated Ferguson retains his place no matter what!
-
Ive never liked the guy! His voice drives me insane. Right now he just said the Hearts fans are in full voice but they wont be enjoying this as much as the Celtic fans! What a wank!
-
Yip, i dont see us on TV too much and was looking forward to this game and we have been awul. I posted this on the match thread but will put here. McGregor - Seems to be on his way back to form with a couple of impressive stops. Still something missing tho. Broadfoot - Embarrassment! Still cant even take a throw-in! He had a foul throw on 40th min which the ref allowed. He is the new Gary Bollan. Weir - too slow and old for this type of fast pace. Bougherra - Done fine, and gets pass marks. Whittaker - Il give him the benefit of the doubt for being rusty otherwise he would be plum No.2 after Broadfoot. Papac has done everything right at LB and is the better option. Hurry back S Smith also. Ferguson - Still way off the pace. Invisible! Mendes - Has a touch of class but cant run the show on his own. Adam - no comment! Please leave! Lafferty - no a winger and i feel sorry for him. People expect much of him and he isnt delivering on the wings. Should play upfront! Boyd - Ive back him for few weeks but that was against Hamilton and St Mirren - his level!. He didnt score against Motherwell, Dundee Utd and has been awful today. Put Lafferty in hos position. Darcheville - Tried a lot and would probably benefit with better players around him. WS - Baffling selections and tactics. - We the fans can see over a season what games we need to punish teams and what games we need to win yet WS continues with strange selections. We need Novo on. He is an impact player and will make a difference. Lets give Aaron a run out aswell rather than Burke. Id change Novo and Aaron with Boyd and Adam and put Lafferty in Boyds place.
-
One thing id add about footballers running is some are actually faster running with the ball at there feet than they are doing a sprint - i found this in myself when i was around 16/17. Its like you get an extra burst as you are chasing something. You are also controlling something at the same time so essentially doing 2 things at once - thats why certain players dont have to be the fastest in the world. - They are using a skill by putting the ball in a place where they know its going to be in the next metre or so but the opponents dont.

Thought start a fresh seen as that other one is a few months old and a conspiracy to me not winning much this season Anyway, my bet for today: Aston Villa to beat Fulham Wigan to beat West Brom Watford to beat Doncaster Draw between Middlesboro - Newcastle

Commentators pronouncing things "wrong"
Gribz replied to Super_Ally's topic in General Football Chat
You dont half pick out things to be argumentative and your post is bizarre. You've got what I said WAY wrong. Your infact the one translating team names when I said we shouldnt. We should pronounce them as we say it, not translate. For eg...Real Madrid:- We say 'real' and not 'ray-al' Why would we transfer Caledonian to Scottish?? Are you saying Caledonian isnt a word in our language? -

For players names I agree with that. Its like Jenas used to be called Jen-us, and that requested it to be Jean-us. As for teams / countries then it should be how we say it in our language. -
Once again, huge weekend down south, with a super super Sunday in store. Aston Villa v Fulham - Fulham got a credible point at Anfield last weekend but I cant see them getting anything from 1 of the leagues best teams at the moment who are coming off the back of picking up 4 points from games against Arsenal and Man Utd. 2-0 home win. Middlesbrough v Newcastle - Boro have impressed me this season and if luck had been on there side earlier in the season they would be top 6. Newcastle are a bit stronger than earlier but still strugglers. 1-1 Stoke v Hull - Hulls bubble seems to have burst as they havent won in 5 but this game may be to there liking. Stoke will see this as a great chance to gain another 3 home points. Tough one to call. 1-1 Sunderland v Bolton - Bolton won at Boro last weekend while sunderland lost at home to West Ham. This wont be a pretty match at all. 1-0 Sunderland Wigan v West Brom - I like what Steve Bruce can do with limited resources and after beating Everton at home last week they will see this as a great chance for another win. West Brom are everyones favourites to go down. 2-0 Wigan Sunday, 30 November 2008 Man City v Man Utd - The first Manchester derby that says on paper City are the more wealthy but i dont buy that. Man Utd have the infrustructre in place already. This should be a cracking game as the likes of Robinho and Ronaldo will turn it on. 1-2 Man Utd Portsmouth v Blackburn - After almost beating AC Milan then conceding 2 late games, Tony Adams has to pick up his team to face free falling Blackburn. 1-0 Portsmouth Tottenham v Everton - Another home game for Spurs which could see them climb the table. Everton arent as strong as last year but still see the european places in sight. Tight game 1-1 Chelsea v Arsenal - The pressure is on Arsenal. if they sont win this then catching Chelsea will probably be beyond them. Tactially Wenger gets these games right until the last 20 mins then they seem to throw it away. Im going for a 1-0 win to the Arsenal. Monday Liverpool v West Ham - Banker away win.
-
A thumping like that would be superb but il settle for any kind of 3 points tomoro. Id also play Novo from the start. Im looking forward to it, its my early K/off on the telly tomoro night so few beers to watch it with.

Commentators pronouncing things "wrong"

My sister speaks spanish and always uses a TH, its correct but annoying. Anyway, ive noticed the english commentators calling Daniel Cousin like the relation and not Coozan... -
Bit of a mismatch on paper if this one was played a few years ago, but its amazing what can happen in football. Possibly Pompeys biggest ever game! Atmosphere should be cracking there tonight and i think it will be close.
-
Yeah was mainly meaning that although that only decides who plays who in the next round. But normally group winners have been decided after 4 games or 5 at the most
-
Id be easing that in this season in some games and keeping Weir for the likes of this saturday at Hearts and Celtic games. If WS could unearth another Bougherra type player for next season to partner MB then il be happier.
-
Speaking of which, is this on the cards in January??? Is he still looking for a move back? Id take him in an instant. Solves the Left side probably and would be brilliant through the middle with Miller or Boyd on there current form. Lafferty is that type of player at the moment (LM / centre forward)...but hasnt really started his career yet. PL did it in the big games and id prefer him.
