  1. Nice article to kick off Old Firm week and we can debate it until the kick off. Football isnt rocket science to work out but when Manager make decisions that arent straight forward it becomes tricky i.e. playing players out of position. I would go with 4-3-3 with the 2 wide players making it a 4-5-1 when they have the ball. Id try get the ball on the deck and out play Celtic. Im afraid the last thing I would do is put Boyd upfront on his own coz that is just taking pressure off the Celtic defence, and I dont think id play Miller just because of his running efforts. Instead, id opt for Velicka to be strong and link up with the wide men. Id also be tempted to bite the bullet and give Cousin a chance, if he is on his game i dont think Celtics defence could handle him. In the wide right it would be Novo for me, he always plays well against Celtic and gives them a torrid time. On the left id have Beasley or Aaron. I dont know much about Edu but I actually wouldnt be surprised to see him start in a packed midfield with Thomson, Davis and Mendes. One thing is for sure - Adam and McCulloch cant play next week!
  2. The best England done was under Robson and Venebles, only penalties possibly stopped them winning the WC and EC. If Hoddle had taken Gazza to WC98 then it could have made a difference, he was slightly off the rails then but he was easily stilll capable of giving that extra bit to assist a then young Scholes. Capello says he wont be picking players on reputation but why is Beckham even in the squad? I cant think of anything else than for marketing reasons. La Galaxy havent won in 7 games.
  3. Noble was silly and that handed Man City the points. With C Cole going off minutes before that it meant we were restricted with subs, but id still have taken Mullins or Bowyer on straight away rather than moving Sears to RW. Disagree about WH starting line up Jon, i think we look very weak in areas. The defence is still a bombscare. We have one of the best keepers in the league but the defence is poor. Davenport hasnt kicked a ball for 18 months, Lucas Neill is an idiot who gives away too much (70k a week and club captain - wtf??), and Upson is slow. In centre midfield Parker and Noble will get run over by stronger teams all season. I cant see WH being a top 10 club this season at all.
  4. Couple of Its one of them that needs to be heard
  5. Because 1 of them is always told to play a stupid role. Gerrard played LM last week. They should have Carrick sitting behind them then just let Gerrard and Lampard have a free role with J Cole or Ashley Young on the left / Agbonlahor or Bentley on the right. But as usual England have to make sure they get the big names in which makes them suffer. Its not rocket science, id go with: _____________________Carrick__________________ __Agbonlahor_____Gerrard_____Lampard_____J Cole__
  6. Throw him in whether it be right back or in the midfield. He looks quite physical and could snap McGeady and Maloney. Rangers player have a great record in scoring on OF debuts, we could have about 5 debuts next week
  7. Great save from Cech! If Chelsea can get Deco, Ballack, Lampard and Essien in the same midfield why cant England get Lampard and Gerrard playing in the same time - its a nonsence.
  8. Yeah next month, phuket this week for 5 days
  9. Anyone hear this yesterday? I listened this morning and was wetting myself with laughter at 1 caller. He was an older guy and a bit disabled talking about Bobo Balde - he was a celtic fan and said Balde couldnt know the difference between a football and an Orange. It was just the way he said it, even Traynor had to hold his laugh in. It can be found on bbc web and its 52min 25 secs in.
  10. Nah your Arsenal posts arent bad, just give up on Boyd
  11. Deco is just class - great free kick. There midfield is frightening. They are just so strong all over the pitch, i cant anyone other than them winning the league. In saying that Wigan havent been bad in the last 10 mins.
  12. Id have rather we had Beasley on from the start and maybe gave us an hour or even just 45 mins
  13. My original post to blame Boyd was changed due to wrong wording, but I have to say Im fizzing about the decision mainly because officials were talking about strike action before the start of the season for a pay rise...yet 3 weeks into the season there has been huge wrong decisions along with the typical go happy whistle blowing. I understand being an official must be difficult but they are too easy to blow the whistle and they seem to be getting makor decisions wrong every week. I hope the club make an official complaint about this.
  14. No Boyd doesnt get blame for the decision, but he should be asked why he was in an offside position - this is pure careless. He is a striker who should know the ball is likely to be played and he should have been even with the last defender - a basic footballing skill. But as far as the rules go I think your right, if a player doesnt touch the ball or if it doesnt go in his path then his is deemed with not interferring with play. The pass was aimed at Beasley therefore Boyd was not interferring with play but he linesman obviously ruled it for this or he thought Beasley was offside - what ever it was the linesman has to come out and explain this decision. Right now we are on 7 points instead of 9 because of this decision - that could be the difference between the league title and 2nd place.
  15. I honestly still dont think WS has an idea of what his best XI or formation is yet. All this should be worked out at Murray Park. Other managers have it in their heads what they want, Walters just seems to buy a big squad and hope for everything to click. I wouldnt care so much if we dropped points but gave everything and had our players in their best positions - but its baffling when players out out of position. Miller Left wing, McCulloch centre mid, Adam in the team, Whittaker midfield - these things keep happening. Having new players isnt an excuse because he was the same last season.
  16. Beasley is a mile onside, its Boyd who is well offside. Boyd needs to be asked why he wondered to an offside position - he can clearly see the last defender. But the officials should get this correct, and they want more respect??!!! The linesman even has the help of the 18 yard line - disgrace. EDIT: In fact we should be bombarding the SFA with this picture demanding this linesman gets suspended for not doing his job. He couldnt be better placed and is looking straight across.
  17. TBH it was probably the worst Arsenal performance in about 3 years. They were flat and lacked ideas. Credit to Fulham they played well though. Wenger signed Silvestre from Man Utd which is a good buy but he needs another experienced player for midfield.
  18. Didnt back anyone but glad i didnt, there was some strange results
  19. yip too much flair players in the team, they need a bit of steel.
  20. Jon will be happy, 1-0 to fulham
  21. We've actually got Gordon Durie in the studio for a pundit today for the games. He and John Budgie both say Liverpool jammy.
  22. 3-2 to stoke Hull got a point at blackburn and spurs lose again!! Liverpool are so jammy! Boro didnt deserve that
  23. lucky bastards
  24. 2-1 to Sunderland
  25. Carragher or maybe og
