  1. I think there was only one poster on the match thread yesterday who said its not the end of the world following yesterdays poor outing at Tynecastle. He is very much true as Celtic only came up stuck in their last visit to the capital. However its the manner in which points can be dropped which irks the Gers support - which this forum has intelligence in abundance. We are not silly when we identify things and see that tweaks can be made. I was very critical yesterday after the final whistle - which is when knee jerk reactions do tend to come out - I was thinking this morning that it was perhaps wrong as after the first OF game of the season where we didnt show we have actually been superb since scoring 17 goals and getting top of the league. At the same time we were extremely unlucky away in Switzerland in the Europa and should be sitting top of our group bar two slip ups. A couple of things from yesterday - Did the pressure of being top get to us? Was it the international break which derailed the form? Was it a one off? All questions to be answered against Motherwell next week. However short term memory isnt such a great thing. When we returned to the top flight a short time ago the rebuilding job to challenge a team playing regular CL football was always taking 3-5 years. We had disasters like Pedro "dont even want to google his last name" and it caused a set back. But a bit of perspective from where we was 5 years ago. Gerrard has come in and we are competing and challenging again - we are right in a title race! After a quarter of the season gone, despite losing the first OF game of the season we are level on points and goal difference at the top. Perhaps yesterday needs to be a lesson learned and its still only October so there is plenty time to rectify our wrongs.

A fair shout, with his experience would have added something coming off the bench. Would have seen what was lacking. Does it come down again to SG sticking too much with the same core of players? Trips to Edinburgh will always cause the odd blip for both Rangers and Celtic but when you see so many faults thats when it gets frustrating.
  3. Just listened to last nights gersnet podcast. Seems all on the same page. Couldnt agree more with Steven as he says there are too many guarantee picks - I never get this in football when a player is well off form over a collective period of substantial time.
  4. Man Utd were impressive in the first half, I was thinking yesterday the only way they could have a chance is to play 5 at the back which they did. Other teams will take note on how to set up against Liverpool now. Tallys prior to Monday night football. Gribz - 17 (shouldnt have went controversial yet Im tempted to another 4 points because of Spurs goal). Chelsea Boy - 23 (great debut) Scott - 15 (Still beat me!) Compo - 16 (Victory stolen from the debut boy) Updated after MNF.
  5. It comes down to confidence - play him to restore - drop him to drop it. The latter sounds more appealing at the moment. Anyone who thinks otherwise might want to tally up the cost after the Europa league and SPL tables in May. Its a big decisions and thats what Gerrard is here for. He is a shambles at RB at the moment. A good two years doesnt keep you in the play....as mentioned an off day is allowed but a defender costing goals is a nightmare.
  6. Got over what?
  7. An off day is acceptable once every 6 or 7 weeks but Tav has had one in all of that period and cost us games. - That results in being dropped! I dont care who it is. Pull him aside and explain the situation. He is probably a bit stale at the moment and needs a refresher. So pull him out the side and make him come back better. These are the decisions Gerrard has to make at Rangers - no trialists here. It annoys me if he cant make a decision like this. The final minute he took a free kick into the box 1) id not have let him take it
  8. Baffled me also. First five minutes there was an attack down the right and Arfield was in the half circle at the edge of the box.
  9. I thought he meant gimp
  10. Poor booking. Show his frustration in the dressing room - not against the officials who just want to book him. 36 and still hasnt grasped it.
  11. Extremely poor. Only got back into it from the goal. Defensive poor. Tavernier has to sit out for a week or so. One mistake is OK, two is forgivable but now its 3 plus a poor showing. That will filter through. Midfield ultra poor - never competed with Hearts until the goal. Expect much better second half.
  12. Your on par with the Christmas movies and songs
  13. Kent back on the bench? Great to see, I thought he was out for another month.
  14. Looking forward to the game, few Sunday beers. For me it will go one of two ways. 1) We thump them in style. 2) They play their game of the season and take a point. They have a lot of players back but they cant all be match fit for 90 mins. If ever a game where we dont need too much width its at tight Tynecastle, it will be 100mph midfield battle at times.
  15. VAR is an absolute farce an is almost making the game corrupt. It never goes against a Refs pen decision. (plus it ruined a perfect score for me at White Hart Lane). The decisions yesterday were ridiculous. Aston Villa had a perfectly good goal rule out. Wolves had two chopped off - I didnt see much wrong with one of them and they were wrongly given a pen. Id say Burnleys equaliser should have stood. Evans was never getting it. But the Spurs two were so poor. First Watford had a blatent pen and they Alli's goal scenario -he played it with his upper arm so its hand ball. Yet the Ref announces goal but the score board said no goal - after a double check the goal is given. Watford should have finished Spurs off in the second half though. Drop this nonsense straight away or make a simple change to the rule - The FULL man has to be offside and not just partly. Anyway today - Im not one to changing my predictions so will stick by the original ones but after seeing the early team news i cant possibly see how Man Utd can win.
  16. Everton is an absolute nightmare for us. I think we've won once there in about 25 years - quite recent though.
  17. Getting in early as the international games are draining. Its a good weekend of sport and it cant come quick enough. Im taking Australia to beat England. NZ to hammer Ireland. France to beat Wales South Africa to knock out Japan. Saturday: Everton 1-0 West Ham Aston Villa 2-1 Brighton Bournemouth 3-1 Norwich Chelsea 3-0 Newcastle Leicester 2-0 Burnley Tottenham 0-1 Watford Wolves 2-0 Southampton Crystal Palace 2-1 Man City Sunday: Man Utd 2-1 Liverpool Monday: Sheff Utd 1-0 Arsenal.
  18. No its not.
  19. He could still play...of course he could, he is 39. He'd run the show.......
  20. Surprised nobody else had a go at a team...yet who was disagreeing with this! That would destroy most teams. Novo could tuck into the right and Steven pushing in one - same as Loven on the other side....Mendes controlling the play and Der Hammer Volleying everyone. What a team.
  21. Should have grabbed the Goalie or Der Keeper or Theo or Lionel C or Annti N or just played the Shagger.
  22. Fair play but if you look at the list he is the only keeper there - but it is McLeish managing so dont rule out Big Marvin between the sticks! I didnt like him playing either, I thought it was shocking he was picked ahead of Klos. Klos probably knew that. But Waterreus was obviously a McLeish man. Prior to injury Klos was easily in the top 5 keepers in the world and almost knocking Khan off his spot. Rangers keepers have always intrigued me.....The best of the best in some cases. Niemi was the one I felt for - he was top drawer.
  23. Possibly the Scott Nisbet of this era. Never enough talent but heart and determination gets him through to give what he can. Fair play to him after being shipped out to Azerbaijan (that could have broke him) but to come back and be part of a squad. SG will like that in him.
  24. A new meaning to 'Draw no bet'.
