This would be super difficult. Non UK born. Tough to leave David Silva, Hazard and Zola out. Schmiechel Stam Vidic Desailly De Bruyne Keane Vieira Ronaldo Bergkamp Henry Aguero
-
That is really difficult to think about. It would probably be dominated by Hearts players although Hibs did have a few good players under McLeish like Latapy and Frank Sauzee. Probably go with John Robertson upfront.

SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)

Not yet for me. I think the pre warning type statement on a Sunday is a good thing, make them sweat a wee bit before this reconstruction forum starts tomorrow. Hold the cards close to the chest for now IMO. I wouldnt strike yet - not when it hasnt been confirmed that the stooges wont be involved in any investigation. Good to see Dalglish speak out - possibly the best ever Scottish player who must ooze respect from many in the UK as a whole. Going forward, former respected players should always have a part on the board even a consultancy basis at a minimum. -

Its not just the larger top flight that will look easier on the eye but the proposal is 14-10-10-10. One problem has always been having 4 divisions since the 90s. When you have 24 clubs in each division in England you get away with it but in Scotland 3 divisions at the most is enough. 14 is an awkward amount, If they cant extend it to 16 or 18 then it should either be kept at 12 but then increase the Championship and League one to having much more teams. If gives clubs more to play for when they know they can reach the top flight in 1 or 2 years. But the biggest loop hole is the TV money who want 4 OF games in a season plus all the other sides want 4 home OF games a season as well. The shambolic way this has went about though is the most unprofessional thing in football Ive seen (off the park) but certainly not surprising as they have been incompetent for too long now and Doncaster is obviously just a spokesman. -
Things are so boring I probably had a think. Id go with Forster now - I think he is a cracking keeper, just went to the wrong club Southampton. Gordon a close second but they have not had a keeper to boast about compared to us. (Goram, Woods, Klos, Snelders, Charbonnier, Niemi, McGregor would all easily be ahead). At the back, probably Mjallby with Vallgaren (sp). McNamara was a player I liked. When he left Dunfermline I was hoping we would have got him. Rogan has to go in all day long - he was a penalty every game ? Forster McNamara Mjallby Vallgaren Rogan Thom Lambert Moravcik Di Canio Larsson Van Hooijdonk Cant actually believe I just did that. Scotty your a bad man to generating this thread.
-
Scott - Ive noticed some of your teams have a formation like 2-3-5 etc. Was that the norm back then? Wonder what it would do to the game now if teams approached it like that. Man City practically do it anyway with the amount of attackers but with losing Kompany it has shown them they still need a rock at the back in any formation.

Interesting. Ive never thought about their XI. Cant really think of a goalkeeper to start with, we have always been blessed with good keepers. I never really rated Bonnar. Douglas was a bombscare and Borac is just a twat. Larsson is a shoe in, he was world class. And Moravcik. Would put Lambert, Andreas Thom and Di Canio in. Anton Rogan for his multiple assists must get in.

Where were you? I was in Baku. Just had been in the sticks towards the Georgian border for 2 weeks, managed to get back into Baku for the game but ended up in a bar full of Celtic supporters. I went mental on the table and ended up having to make a sharp exit before finding another bar.
-
Makes it even better knowing Bellamy and Sutton were in that Celtic team..and Dallas was the ref at fir park. Tam Buffel was a quality player. Turned it on in the big games,
-
Just pitch it in here. As much as it hurts it will be an awesome team.

Amazing...different ages. Your really must be older Scotty. How about an England Xi you seen? Oomph I'll have a think

You might be very well truth....but was there relegation to the low/high land leagues? A lot of teams have been created since then - possibly 6? Will do a count. Doesnt matter though - live in the now and it means going back to other times no harm. 3 divisions to start with. -

I dont see SPL doing it but Its certainly a start to get the conversation on the table. 18 teams might be the solution for the amount of games played - Id probably do that. You cant say Dundee, Dundee Utd, Raith, Dunfermline, Inverness and Partick couldnt fit in when they have all had reasonable spells in the top flight. But I see your point and it backs up why 14 teams is ridiculous as you get splits again with teams playing each other too many times etc. The English systems works well - just copy it. But with 16 (or 18) you can do something. League and Scottish cups on weekends to fill the time. I know then its less games and ST costs come down so maybe 18 teams is the answer then. But every avenue is worth exploring Dell. -
Solid team. 1 or 2 question marks. Midfield at its peak is outstanding! The defence is 75% top notch.

Totally agree. Especially doing so with only 3 out of the 4 leagues - only the balloons in Scotland could do this. As it stands Raith get promoted but Falkirk are 1 point behind - so I dont see Falkirk agreeing. Lets say it goes through and Dundee Utd get promoted but the SPL then decide they are having no changes so no relegation happens and Hearts are safe - does Dundee Utd still come up to make it an 11 team league - and then the knock affect goes down the leagues. Utter shambolic thinking. Hearts going down after 38 games is what we would like to see but if they are going to call the end of the season it has to be under reconstructure. Its fairly known the SPL, SFA and SPFL have no interest in clubs at all. Reduce the divisions to give smaller teams a chance. The sensible thing to do is make the top flight a 16 team league and go from 4 divisions to 3 divisions to what it was in the past. You could even regionlise the bottom two leagues so Stranraer dont have to drive up to Elgin etc. Then have play offs between those two leagues at the end of the season to see who goes up. Alternatively its a standard 16, 14, 12 team divisional set up. Masses of chances to improve the domestic game on the table at the moment. -
Didnt see the guy play but his stats are there to be seen. It annoys me when people say Rooney was Englands "greatest" goalscorer when he is clearly the "highest". Dont get me wrong, Rooney was world class player but Greaves percentage rate is way the greatest. 44 in 57 games.

Again a generation thing and can only go by who I have seen. Andy Robertson will probably go in at LB eventually but I'll stick with players who are retired. Very difficult when leaving out Rangers players and this team could end up getting edited with more thought. Darren Fletcher being one who could go in. Strikers in the 90s werent the best without McCoist and Durie so its difficult to choose. Craig Brown seemed to play the likes of Scott Booth, Darren Jackson and Kevin Gallagher with none of them doing much at international level. Leighton McNamara Miller McLeish Malpas Strachan McAllister Lambert Collins McFadden Hutchison

You cant give titles without relegation etc...its standard. 1) Wait and play the season out - who cares when restructure later and it helps with Qatar world cup - contracts is a issue. 2) Void - Id its not completed within the contractual time then its a void season - unlucky for others. 3) Award as it is - by far the most ridiculous idea ever. Who knows what could happen... 1 or 2 for me.
