I used to watch it every year, its good entertainment. I get hyped for the OF games in it. Would prefer to see more than 4 teams in it. Aberdeen, Hibs, Motherwell and an other would make it better. And 2 teams should go through to play the British masters. Walters will be a miss, he is always the outstanding player in the tournament. There is no Bobby Prytz also this year, he normal plays. Stuart McCall will be a good addition as is Dodds and Mols. But surely we could get a better keeper than Dibble?? Whats Ginzburg or Letizi doing??? :fish: But id have went for Niemi, Snelders or Charbonnier if Klos and Goram werent available. Even Ally Maxwell had a better ibrox career than Dibble. Hearts have a decent team. Cant believe Henry Smith is still playing for them though, he must be about 73 by now!

Im more worried about him for the start of season 10/11. If he plays in all that games / tournaments he will be burnt out for sure!
-
Absolutely agree that every striker in the world has his off days. Henry at Arsenal was a classic example. For 5 weeks he would be unplayable then he would have a shocker (although with Henry it seemed to be a mood thing). My point about Boyd was merely he needs to get his percentage of off days down. Id say the same thing about a number of players. All they need to do is look at Davie Weir who at 39 was probably our most consistant player last season. But have to say Boyd seemed to get his finger out at the turn of this year and has definatly improved his all round game.

Ok then, 2M?? :fish: Individuals dont win titles (unless your Ronaldo, Maradona) - teams do! I'll not doubt his scoring record overall, and i did say he is improving. But there was a couple of games last season where we were being held we went ahead once he came off so the argument that Boyds goals won us the title doesnt stick for me. It was a team contribution. Yes we needed Boyds goals but we needed the wins against Celtic (4-2), Hibs (3-0), Dundee utd (2-0) to name a few just as much. Im not starting a Boyd debate here, my point is more so that we need consistancy. Im not expecting 38 awesome performances from any player but some players only give us maybe 1 in 3 games or a run of 6 good games then 6 bad. Ferguson for EG is 1 good game then 7 bad!

By wasted talent i meant past tense and I didnt say who is to blame for that (he is obviously partly to blame). He was a wasted talent before leaving us. The guy had quality at Feyenoord and showed it in a quite a few games when he first came to Ibrox (that 3-1 OF game in 2005 and Porto in CL the same month to name 2) but after his injury we never saw him again. So of course its a waste.

He is saying all the right things. His performances after the Scotland fiasco then towards the end of the season improved a lot as he was putting much more effort in. Its all about consistancy. He needs to come back for pre-season fully fit and trim and keep it up. Sounds like he is beginning to mature a bit aswell, the thought of being sold must have hit home that he was having it too easy at times so he dig in a bit. However if we got a 3M offer for him id still grab it. The key striker for me next season is Lafferty. If he can stay fit and is played upfront then he will be important. Who'd have thought that after his first 6 months at the club though!!!

Went into a football shop last week in Tokyo....Once again I saw a Celtic shirt in another asian country but no Rangers top. If we cant even get our tops sold in JJB stores in UK then what hope do we have overseas where the market is huge!!!

Ferguson has had 2 awful seasons and I dont think he will get his form back on a consistant basis due to the fact he is on the spiral downwards. If someone was to say we could keep him as a squad player and play him sparingly (which is what should have been done all last season and before) then that wouldnt be a bad shout but then again I wonder if his off field attitude affects the team aswell. Would much prefer us to get a nice fee for him. 1.5M would do nicely. As Jon said, Sunderland want Davis for 5M. Now thats a tough one to ponder over. A talented 23 year old who could play a big part for RFC in the next 5 years!!! Id prefer him to stay, he would be way down my list of players to sell. But if we got 2 good players in with that fee then you have to consider it. EDIT - If we could do a swap for Kieron Richardson that wouldnt be a bad shout, we have needed a natural Right winger for a while now.

I cant see Man City going like Leeds or Newcastle Gav, they have the financial backing like Chelsea, its all about how they manage it. If the owners pull out with a huge debt above them then they would be worse than Leeds. But i agree seeing teams trying to buy their way to the top overnight makes me look forward to the fall. But then again if Hughes has all this cash of course he is going to spend. But I look at West Ham. 2 years ago the Icelandics came in when they were flush and bought a number of players. I compare that to what Zola and Clarke and 'building' now and much prefer the latter. Zola is putting a long term plan into place which brings stability.

Id still not boo him or give him abuse. But im always prepared for a Boyd debate Buffel is a wasted talent. If Boyd could give half the effort Sebo did then he would be a bit of a player. Id always have a headless chicken in my team over a statue
-
Naive in your opinion only. Id rather remain open minded and let an untried player show us what he has got then judge once we have seen for ourselves. Yet after only getting minutes on the park with a Gers jersey we dont know what Aaron could have done. He showed a bit of promise in his debut then we didnt see him again until an away cup match at Forfar when again he played well. He seems to have done ok for the Spanish young side so far. He wasnt ready for Valencia doesnt mean he isnt ready for the SPL. The 2 leagues are miles apart with Valencia being contenders for La Liga most seasons. WS sets his teams out to not lose rather than go and win and to see the likes of McCulloch being played ahead of a hungry youngster is poor for me. As i mentioned on another thread today, there was a bit too much hype put on Fleck, then he was being played out of position which can ruin a player before his career starts. He is not a left winger. But i do admire Fleck for filling in on the left and doing a decent job. I believe professional footballers should be able to fill in on most positions on occasion when they are being paid to do such job.
-
True, but regardless of how poor his is id still not boo him and give him abuse while he is on the park.

Stevie Lennon was one of the youngsters I thought could have a decent future. Anyone know whats the status with him? He went on loan last season to Partick was it? There is one thing in giving youngsters a try but there is another playing them in their natural positions. If not you can ruin them before their career has started. We know that our support can easily get on players backs. We've seen it with Adam, Mo Ross, McCulloch, to name a few...even going back to when Craig Moore played midfield under Smith in the 90s. Fleck played his games last season as a left winger and everyone expected him to produce miracles yet his first OF game he left the pitch after barely touching the ball. Smith had an imbalance last season as we started the season with 9 strikers before Darcheville and Cousin left. The likes of Fleck suffered due to that.

Scott Booth is out of a job so he could take over??? But i hope Chick returns. Have to say, I like the chap.

Your calling quite a few posters on here naive then as many of them said he would have a huge impact. So why sign him in the first place? Where you insulted when he signed? We did the same with Martin and Bardsley from Man U but they got games, so in respect if any of Europes elite (Valencia are up there for me - or they were 2 years ago) want to send their talented younger players to Ibrox to get first team experience I'll gladly take them in this day in age where we cant afford too many transfer fees.
-
He would be a bit of risky signing as we dont know if he will advance to the level needed at Rangers. A player can have potential but after a year or 2 this runs out and he has to start cutting the mustard, i.e. no long er just be a promising player. He has shown he has the potential, now its time to see if he has it for RFC or not. Personally id like to see him sign on, i think he could be a valuable squad player. But he has a decent argument that it is tough to get a fair crack of the whip at a club like Rangers. You either hit the ground running or you dont. Young Aaron came on the scene and everyone rant and raved about him...i posted on here that i bet we dont see a sniff of him and a few shot me down - we saw him get a total of about 97 minutes. We dont want Furman to be a Namouchi. Namouchi had quite a bit of talent but dont show it in his latter games. Although there is the rumour that he was uncomfortable playing with Ferguson after BF ranted him during a match.

Time for the SPL to start their own broadcasting channel as per what Pete mentioned. @ Dundee Utd also for not accepting the Sky deal last time round. I cant see too many bidders for the SPL. Perhaps the OF should get round a table and work out whats best for them i.e. push an Atlantic league.

Absolute imposter of a player now. We talk about players losing a yard of pace, he has lost at least 3 yards of pace which he relied on for his game. If i was a Newcastle fan id be booting his ass out of the city faster than anything else. 110k a week for 4 years and he did absolutely nothing. It just shows how bad he is when the only team to make public interest is Hull.
-
Keep him at porkheid. He is average and no threat to us at all on the pitch
-
Have you tallied up the total of miles you have done since starting? See if you can reach 8500 miles and as the plane flys you would have taken a path to me.
-
We had this as an april fool. It was either Dailly or McCulloch we joked about. No way will Dailly be offered a contract next season with the cuts we are taking. The guy is fit enough and I think can do a job at centre half for someone but he would only be a sub with us so he will move on.
-
A pile of yellow shite aswell. Umbro are rank at making kits nowadays. My West Ham one of 2 seasons ago was nice but still a tight fit round the shoulders. We need to bring back adidas ASAP.
-
Shite, i forgot McAllister was at Leeds. Thats a tough league to get out of though. Lambert and McAllister would be decent coaches and assistant managers. They were quality players and have something to offer but they dont cut it as No.1s
-
I was kinda hoping they would get relegated due to such irritation
-
Sanchez would be a bit of a coup for the league, he has a decent character. He did brilliant with NI but poor with Fulham though. Would like to see Gary McAllister getting a job somewhere as he has been rumoured with a few roles but hasnt taken any job, id like to see how he does. Can see Lambert being in with a shout aswell.
