Lee McCulloch has got 2 goals in 3 games

Spurs tried to do a deal that would send Carlo Cudicini to Portsmouth. Id certainly take cash plus Cudicini for McGregor.

Not at all. Not since having the individual quality of Laudrup, Gascoigne, Albertz, De boer would i single out players who would badly dent our title hopes. If we had a player in that mould being sold on then id say it really weakens us. These days its very much a team game for us. Id put Bougherra as our most important player at the moment but if he is sold Id still say we have a good chance of retaining the league. If we lost Bougherra, Mendes and Davis then id be really concerned about losing the title. But Boyd, i still think we could win the title no problems without him.

A left sided winger! Surley not! Very encouraging deal. Now we just need a defender and we can get on with the football.

Imagine you did that to someone on the street! you would get jail and charged. Why should a football pitch be any different, its intent to cause bodily harm. Guy should bet 3 months in a cell.
-
James Collins and Richard Dunne are on the SKY website as potential signings there but nothing about Bougherra

Champions League current odds: AC Milan, Bayern Munich and Juventus are worth a fiver!

Good job its only possible to have 1 vote or id be accused of all 3 votes

Not only these points Fraser, but what about if Bougherra gets injured / suspended between now and january. We have to win the league again this season and make sure we get in the CL next year also for cash and that means consistantly winning all season. Plus we want to make a good account of ourselves in this seasons CL. We wont get a better chance to qualify for the last 16 than this year. A CB is a absolute must IMO.

Yip agreed, Miller has done well in the past for Scotland but he had a player like McFadded behind him - both have pace in the break. Lafferty did well also last season in that role against celtic but then got moved to the left which was disappointing. Agree with MF, we shouldnt ever be looking to play 4-5-1 unless it can be switched to a 4-3-3 on attack.

How long will he be out for? He will be a key player for us when he returns IMO. Anyone know if he can cover at CB?

Dont agree with Boyd = goals = title. So the people saying this are saying without Miller, Davis, Weir, McGregor etc we will still win the title just as long as Boyd is in the squad? What about the defensive saves Bougherra, Weir and McGregor / Alexander make - surely if they are not there to prevent conceding goals then we may not win the games. A team / squad = title. And I seem to recall a few good wins last season plus the opening day of this season with boyd not scoring yet that wins = goals. Boyd contributes! More so in the games like Hamilton, Killer etc. yes of course we still need to pick up the wins in these games, its all part of contributing over a season.

If we do take anyone in I expect it to be loan deals. But surely a CB has to be first priority or at least bringing Webster back. There is no way we can go through a full season and expect Bougherra and Weir not to miss any games. The current cover we have is more than concerning.

You've got to love a Boyd debate. IMO one (thats one) of the reasons he didnt agree to join Birmingham is he would probably get found out playing at a higher level and wouldnt have cut it in the Premier league. He said his love of Rangers is his reason for staying - that may be true but if he knows he is going to be moved on in the next 12-18 months anyway then the move to Birmingham would have made financial sense for all parties. Boyd would have trebled his wages and the club would have got a fee which would have helped us out, not to mention reducing the wages. I agree with Cammy, if Boyd signs a new deal then he can refuse any move and stay at the club until it expires which will cost the club in wages. If he isnt part of WS and AM plans then there is no point giving him a deal. Novo is in the same boat, which to me is disappointing as he is our best impact player and does so in big games such as OF and Euro ties. EDIT - another point Cammy made, this is the first year anyone can remember that we havent made 1 single signing which surely shows the dire situation we are in. The numbers out must be in double figures. A player who would have been nice to get off the books would have been McGregor. We would have got a decent fee of at least 3.5M and had Alexander to step in. I thought McGregor was on his way to being a top keeper at the back end of 07/08 season but he hasnt found that form again.

You must know more than me mate. The thought of his family ties has never even crossed my mind and its a point Ive never picked up on in over 5 years on this forum. TBH if the family ties didnt go down well with any supporter then that supporter shouldnt call themselves fans of the club.

I agree, this has opened a huge can of worms, and comments made recently by Arsene Wenger and Andy Gray are spot on. If they make an example of 1 situation then they have to be consistant and do it everywhere. What irks me is the Man U v Arsenal match that Arshavin didnt get a pen yet Van Persie got booked 2 mins later for the same challenge simply because 1 was inside the box infront of the home fans at Old trafford for the away side and the other was outside the box for the home team and it was easy to decision to give. The simple solution for diving is a straight red card with a 3 game ban - that will stop any diving, and if the ref's miss it then TV evidence should be used to ban the player. The charge towards Eduardo is huge because its for 'deceiving the ref i.e. trying to cheat'....But what happens in the reverse situation when a ref doesnt give a blatent pen? Can that club make a complaint and get a charge on the ref for trying to cheat that team? How on earth can you prove these things?
-
Mcgeady off for diving - Has to be banned if Eduardo did! where is the consistancy in the rules??? Another mhank did a worse dive after it and the ref never even booked him.

When I mentioned passion earlier, it depends on the game itself. For a standard 4-1 rout of Hamilton then I admit I couldnt get passionate and celebrate like the winner at Tynecastle last week, but for the games like yesterday clapping is the least a fan should do.
-
You often see this. Last week during the Liverpool v Villa game when Villa scored there was 1 fan who stood there with a straight face, it can only be described as him being a neutral or there with a mate who supports Villa and he got a spare. Football should surely bring passion, especially to your team you support. Im not a Arsenal fan but I jumped up and down when they scored last night, and when Van Persie put the ball in the net in injury time i went wild thinking it was 2-2.

I was flicking back and 4 between a few games but watched mostly this towards the end. That player Benitez looks a good signing, when he came on it was all birmingham. McFadden should have had a penalty aswell.
-
Spurs were effing Jammy!!! Birmingham were the team who looked like getting a winner then Stephen Carr slipped on the ball and Spurs scored in the 94th min.
-
Yip forgot to mention, I thought Rooney's wasnt a pen, his right foot was down before any contact. The sending off of Wenger at the end is a joke. Is he not allowed to show emotion when he thought he had nicked a draw!!! Quality stuff from his to stand up in the crowd though. Arsenals next match at man city, yet Man U go to Spurs! Interesting games.

Surprised there was no thread about this. What a cracking game! How on earth did Arsenal not take at least a point from the match!! They were by FAR the better side. Fletcher's challenge on Arshavin was an absolute STONEWALL penalty. Yet Van Persie does the same to Giggs and gets booked. Arshavin's goal was a peach. Cant believe Foster got to Van Persie' effort from 4 yards out - that would have finished the game, and if Van Persies free kick had went in they would have went on and won it IMO. What was Diaby thinking!!!!! Then he shoudl have made it 2-2 straight away. Its all about how Arsenal will recover but with Fabregas, Nasri, Rosicky and Walcott all to come back they will be there or thereabouts.
