Yip they are cowards who make sure they well out number those they hit. I was having a tin of beer on the street once and across the road about 3 or 4 neds were about to jump this poor small chap (Gers fan) with glasses who was just eating his fish supper while walking to the game, they went for him so me and my mate ran straight across the road to even it up and they took off. Im not exactly a fighter or big but wasnt going to stand by and see that. It also helps my mate is 6ft and 17 stone and had a skin head at the time Ive had a few chases on the way home from groups of 12 or 13 who think its fair to go 2 guys.

Peter Grant was the Lennon of the 90s. I cant wait to see his face when we beat them
-
Winning at Pittodrie was sometimes better for me and my mate than beating Celtic....especially if we were at the game which we normally would be. But getting home was the tough thing!! Used to have to take a D-tour with the Gers fans towards the beach then make our way across town.

I was at that game as my company was sponsoring the match. I sat there smiling like a cheshire cat gleaming from ear to ear and the best part was I could see tons of people i knew and was giving it at full time. But having grown up with that hatred surrounding me I now realise they actually love us as much as they hate us - they just dont realise it. I bet if the OF broke out the SPL within 1 season they would be missing playing us. I would normally condem their support but now I feel sorry for them as they are caught in an eggshell and cant get out. Ive had many an argument with them and they honestly dont have the power to open their minds up. Its built up on a few things like Rule Britannia, GSTQ and the fact we broke their hearts so many times. Obviously the Simpson and Durrant thing has something to do with it and they are still stuck in the Ferguson era of the 80s. But there are a lot of decent fans aswell from my school who just enjoyed banter in general. And a good few of my mates have always wanted the Gers to win in Euro and OF games over the years.

400k for a draw!!! Not bad!!
-
I wonder what the odds are on him NOT being Celtic manager at the end of the season!
-
How old is Roy Mackay now? Pete, I was working with a Dutch guy last week from Rotterdam (PSV fan) and he said a 90000 seater stadium was being built in Rotterdam, I forgot if its for Feyenoord or FC Rotterdam??
-
No OF until October is a bit of a wait. thats 4 months until we play them again! I prefer an OF game in August or Sept. Should be 3 points for us against Falkirk. Tough opener for them though, I can see Aberdeen winning that. McGhee will have something to prove.
-
It would be best for all parties if he moves on. A nice 1.5 million would do. The 25k a week could go to much better use now that Ferguson is a shadow of his former self.

Who is the Scottish winger at Derby - Kris Commons?? He has looked a decent player on the few games ive seen him.

The bheasts confirm new manager - Tony Moperay
Gribz replied to Zappa's topic in General Football Chat
Neil Lennon AND Peter Grant to mope about the pitch at full time now after we beat them! Couldnt get much better. -
I dont think they can be compared too easily even if you take the first 4 years and WS inherited a good team and had an open cheque book at a huge club. Mowbray took a small team like Hibs to playing good football but didnt win anything. How about if you compare what they both did in the EPL...that makes more sense. WS (cant remember where he took Everton - maybe 15th, 17th and mid table??) v Mowbray 1 relegation and 1 promotion. So WS wins there. However Ive got a feeling Mowbray wont do that well and I think WS will wipe the floor with him next season. As Norris says he seems a decent bloke who is level headed but i think WS's experience will shine through.

A new centre half is top priority for me and id have been happy with Sol Campbell if we had gotten him on a good deal. I also think we need a genuine winger either right or left or both. Ive always thought Matthew Etherington would have been a good signing for us and Stoke picked him up on the cheap last season. Jermaine Pennant and Kieron Richardson are others I thought we could possibly land, their wages would be high but certainly not near the level of half the EPL. But they are all probably beyond our budget even with Hemdani off the books and Ferguson possibly to go. The keeper is an interesting one. Will Alexander or McGregor start? Will the latter even be at Ibrox? McGregor was on the road to being a superb keeper 14 months ago then injury and off field stuff hampered his season just past. One thing for sure is we need a bit more pace. WS will change it to a 4-5-1 in the CL (especially away) so we need pace on the break. Lovenkrands is one id take back. He was a big game player and a few seasons away wont have done him harm. I think we'd see a different player who gave a lot more effort in the type of games he didnt last time round. Therefore: ____________________Alexander_________________ Whittaker______Bougherra______Tonel______Papac Newbie________Davis________Mendes_____Lovenkrands ________________Miller_____Lafferty_____________ EDIT - put the guy Tonel in from Sporting. Would like to see him signed.

I dont like to hear that his father stopped going to games due to abuse. That should never happen and his dad should start going back to games and blank out the abuse. But Adam would be a squad player at best for me. His weight and fitness is obvious not near up to scratch. The guy has a bit of skill but always tries the difficult things rather than a simple pass which always gets noticed in the right way. Im not too sure what his best position is. Some say he is naturally a centre midfielder but he has played most of the time on the left - where I wouldnt play him. Maybe he could do a better job upfront or playing off a striker. I still though Adam was embarrassing sitting live on sky sports picking his nose during an interview. Either way, is he goes and we get a decent fee of 750k id take it, if not then he should be a squad player.

First division teams dont get promoted to the SPL due to stadia criteria yet Motherwell have had the worst playable pitch (probably should be No.1 on the criteria list) for the last few seasons and now have to go to a lower league sides ground to play European games! You couldnt make it up! Only in the baffling world of the SPL! Motherwell should have been told to sort this pitch out 2 years ago.

Tommy McLean not want to come back for an 18th stint in charge!! Butcher and Malpas to return after there relegation?
-
Id take a 34 year old Sol Campbell over Webster every day! Campbell is still mobile and Webster can string 3 games together. Its the same as the saying 'if he is young enough he is good enough'...it can be reversed and applied to the elders..'if they are good enough they are young enough'. I havent once been impressed by Naismith but ive only saw him on the right or left wings and he struggled badly. Gow has baffling, but i wouldnt be surprised to see him regularly next season as a good player and we will all stand up and say why wasnt he played 2 years ago!
-
I think you have hit the nail on the head with starting XI players. That makes a huge difference compared to the amount of bench warmers we normally sign, although last year was mainly starting players with Bougherra, Mendes, Davis and Miller. A partner for Bougherra is a must and should be top priority IMO. If he gets injured or suspened we will be desperate in that department as McCulloch isnt the answer, Broadfoot is out until Nov and Weir is 40 regardless of how well he did last season.
-
Is Sol Campbell Iclandic?? But Hreidasson is same age as Campbell at 34 and would lack pace for centre half and wouldnt be better than Papac at LB IMO. This stage of the summer will be quiet until managers get back to the office and start to make decisions. Players have also just done another international week so they will only start going on holiday now also. Football-less summers are quite depressing but it makes the start of the season much better.

Yeah Pete, i was just making the point that the SPL can cash on from overseas games also where the BBC didnt from selling off foreign rights. We should be looking at the Dutch system for most things, they are a small country who have produced wonderful footballers for the last 30-40 years. There system is miles ahead of the UK. I remember being on a train from Amsterdam to Rotterdam and couldnt believe the amount of quality football pitches - and they were all being used - despite very cold temps.
-
Marseille bought him for 5.5 million and we signed him back for 2.4m but Im not sure if that was becuase they hadnt paid the full amount in the first place. As for 1990 at tannadice...Im sure we won it there around the late 80s also...i remember seeing Butcher with one of those high hats celebrating there. We took over the stadium and had half the old terracing across from where the cameras are.

Agreed, it might be a good move. Just because Blackpool arent glamorous doesnt mean to say they cant do well. Doncaster ended up mid table also. Yet the more glamorous clubs like Southampton, Charlton and Norwich all got relegated.
-
Man U will go out and get Ribery as a replacement and have about 50 million to spare. It doesnt matter who Real Madrid sign they are always trying to be a team of individuals. You look at them winning 9 European titles but the first 5 were in the 60s so they are averaging out about 1 CL per decade despite all these silly transfer fees over the years. If i was a pro footballer id go to Barca way ahead of Madrid.

Is Ronaldo worth 24 million MORE that Kaka??!!!!! Silly!
