Absolutely Brillant. Missed this on the box last night. been watching it most days. Its filmed in Grays balcony most days. Great watch.

Thread has drifted. World XI - holy batman Buffon Adams Gough Maldini Messi Maradona Rivaldo Vieira Ronaldo Ronaldo Henry Thats the real Ronaldo upfront.
-
I think we did something similar on this thread, 1 player from each club. Granted not multiple clubs - that would be very tough to do. WOuld probably need to provide a squad list.
-
Okay...the Italians. Possibly the art of defending but nothing great on UK shores. Keeper: Cudicini, Cant think of any others. Defenders: Amoruso, Festa, Materazzi, Ogbonna, Emerson, Ranocchia, Zappacosta, Panucci Midfielders / wingers: Baggio, Berti, Brance, Carbone, Di Canio, Di Matteo, Eranio, Jorginho, Lombardo Forwards: Balotelli, Casiraghi, Mancini, Ravenelli, Vialli, Zola Heres my XI: Cudicini Amoruso Materazzi Festa Lombardo Jorginho Di Matteo Baggio Di Canio Vialli Zola

Im taking Leno over Lehmann for two reasons. He is playing behind a worse defence and isnt as hot headed. Also thought Lehmann was a bit of a bombscare at times. Ozil Real Madrid form would get in but he has to be the biggest waste of an Arsenal jersey. Will pitch up an Italian list shortly for Scott and Compo. Good bit of fun though while being bored at home. A South Amercian squad will be put up later also.
-
For me: Leno Babbel Huth Rudiger Ziege Podolski Ballack Gundogan Schweinsteiger Sane Klinsmann
-
I think Zee Germans may have an XI of their own without mixing with the Italians - sorry Rousseau, might need to re-do your XI. Keepers: Leno, Lehmann Defenders: Babbel, Huth, Mertesacker, Rudiger, Boateng, Helmer Midfielders / Wingers: Ballack, Can, Freund, Gnabry, Gundogan, Hamman, Hitzlesperger, Ozil, Sane, Schurrle, Schweinsteiger, Ziege Strikers: Klinsmann, Podolski, Riedle, Rosler

Agreed RE 1996, that was awesome. Worst for me - probably 1994. We should have done the Treble for a second season but losing the final to a poor Dundee Utd goal. We just didnt show up that day.
-
I'll work on this squad today. Had a refreshment last night so head is a bit sticky. My first thought was the Chelsea keeper Cudicini (sp?) and Dino Baggio played also. After that perhaps a combined Portugal / Belgium squad. Then an African XI as well.
-
Getting ahead of yourself...Not letting the thread mellow. Head rush..I get it. No worries. Im cooking the soup on these dicussions.... Me / Compo / Scott Will blow your XI by the way.
-
Ooosh. Van Persie over Van Nistelrooy?? Kluivert probably went to wrong club or could have been picked.
-
Im giving you Van Der Vaart though, he was top notch. But he cant oust Bergkamp. Good opinions though and thats what its all about. I'll ping a combined German and Italian squad later - not good enough for just an XI from each.
-
Blind?? You must be very young. Have a look back at the French squad and pick a team there also.
-
Yeah thats up to the picker. And yes had to play in the PL. Personally I go with a bit of both hence leaving Deschamps and Blanc out of the French side. But there is no wrong. Just a wee bit of fun during these times. ?

Ive went for this. I loved Jimmy Floyd but cant see past this forward line. Very much like the French the Dutch had two world class top drawer wingers. Van der Sar Melchoit Stam Van Dijk Van Bronckhorst Robben Davids Gullit Overmars Bergkamp Van Nistelrooy
-
The Dutch: Keepers: Probably only need to put Van der Sar down. But others, Westerveld, Segers, Krul, De Goey, Van Der Gouw. Defenders / Full backs: Van Aanholt, Ake, Blind, Bogarde, Van Dijk, Heitinga, Melchoit, Stam, Vlaar, Van Bronckhurst (played LB at Arsenal). Midfielders / Wingers: Boateng, Davids, Gullit, de jong, Overmars, Robben, Roy, Van der Vaart, Wijnaldum, Zenden. Forwards, Bergkamp, Hasselbaink, Kluivert, Van Nistelrooy, Van Persie.

Drafting up the Dutch players. The strikers are just going to cause a difficulty on par with deciding on Chili Con Carne or a Curry. Fair play to the French though, they racked up a good top notch group of players. They won the WC at home on 98, I felt they were a bit lucky on the way to the final plus had home advantage but then they went to the Euros 2 years later and won it so its the sign of a good side - after both, most of their squad went onto better themselves. (Guivarch cant be included there).

SPFL Season declaration challenged legally (ongoing discussion)
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Apologies...Ive came into the thread late on and secondly was using my phone for typing the last 2 hours. Granted RE linguistic challenges, ive been away 17 out of my 40 years though so technically I can apply for a passport from nowhere. -

True - they attempt to. But at the same time all 42 clubs have a rule book and its there to be looked at. -

Id have imagined that would have been a given by the Club solicitors. Also would think the SPFL rule book would have been went through with a fine tooth comb before any original statement. -

Id say if we have the trump card then it has to be played by tonight or first thing tomorrow. Holding the evidence at the start was the right thing to do as it possibly would have given SPFL time to make an excuse prior to the "Investigation". On the flip side I wonder if the evidence wasnt in black and white. -
TBH I usually do a 3-5-2 and had almost that bar the keeper and Blanc. I originally had Blanc but then compared the stats in the Premier League and Leboeuf played for 5 years while Blanc was winding down. Same for Dechamps - a wonderful technical midfielder but he cant oust Vieira or Kante. And then I had to put Evra in for what he won at Man Utd, when he and Vidic joined they looked out of their depth but went and won multiple titles and reached 3 CL finals. Ginola and Pires switching wings all day long - two geniuses. Will see if a few other posters want a crack at a French side then I will put up a Dutch squad this evening or tomorrow morning. Then compare the two sides. I would see the Dutch and French have provided the best imports. Will look into the Germans and Italians after that.
-
Not far off mine Compo. 9 out of 11. I liked Le Sulk a lot (Anelka) but he would be too similar to Henry. Could have easily dropped Evra for a back 3 and put Makelele in the midfield also. Kante and Makelele though - you would only need 1 of them and its a flip of a coin. Lloris Gallas Desailly Leboeuf Evra Pires Vieira Kante Ginola Cantona Henry
-
Wee bit more fun in these boring times. Here is another tough one to do. Pick a French XI who have played in the Premier league. I have drafted a squad. Keepers: Lloris, Barthez Defenders / Full Backs: Blanc, Clichy, Desailly, Evra, Gallas, Koscielny, Laporte, Leboeuf, Mendy, Sagna, Silvestre. Midfielders / Wingers: Dacourt, Deschamps, Diarra, Ginola, Kante, Makelele, Malouda, Nasri, Petit, Pires, Pogba, Laurent Robert (incase anyone was wondering who Robert was), Vieria. Forwards: Anelka, Cantona, Djorkaeff, Dugarry, Henry, Malbranque, Payet, Saha, Wiltord
-
This gets tricky also. One player from each club who are currently a Premier League side (Leeds would have been useful but cant be used). Its not necessarily picking the best player from each squad, its getting them into a formation. The one helpful thing is the player may have played for more than one team. Here is my 3-5-2 again. Reina (Villa) Terry (Chelsea) Kompany (Man City) Van Dijk (Southampton) Kante (Leicester) Gerrard (Liverpool) Keane (Man Utd) Lampard (West Ham) Bale (Spurs) Henry (Arsenal) Shearer (Newcastle) I would probably opt to switch Bale with Modric and put him in the centre. Then take Keane out and replace with Giggs or Ronaldo on the left.
