  1. Definatly time for him to close his Rangers chapter. He has been a fine player on his day...for me he was at his best from 1998-2001..he was outstanding in games then and in....2002/03 but thats when also thought he was Mr Rangers a bit too much. Since coming back as soon as he was handed the captaincy it turned him into a big head and he has been below average most of the time. Certainly not a Rangers All time Great Captain..but a fine player and nobody will deny that! All the best to him if he moves on.
  2. If it was possible then yeah it sounds an option but there isnt any way we could know that (unless you have inside info ) Preference would be for Bougherra to stay though.
  3. TBH we dont need that much, i am happy if we rid more dead wood. Dailly, Ferguson, hemdani, Smith have freed up a lot of wages and Adam could follow...Webster has freed up a space in the treatment room. If someone could come in for McCulloch then we would have good numbers with the younger ones coming in. Tonel would complete the defence although we are light in full back cover depending on S Smith's fitness and until Broadfoot returns. Id still like a natural winger but we can get away without that with 4-3-3...or Aaron could still be the answer. As long as we keep key players (Bougherra No.1 here) then we dont need too much. For me, Lafferty could be a huge player this coming season. He went from being Laugherty on the left to a very impressive looking player bar his antics of diving.
  4. Said this to my mate the other day, thats a total decrease in quality, abilty and goals. Owen said in the news yesterday that he isnt injury prone....what is he smoking!! either that he just didnt want to play for Newcastle. Ronaldo leaving already takes 40 goals away from Man U next season so they will have to get them goals from other places if they want to win the league again. I cant see Owen doing that at all. Berbatov has been awful and Rooney isnt a out and out goalscorer although he is their best hope.
  5. Terrible shock, and it doesnt sound good. Hopefully he can make a recovery. He is one player i didnt mind at Celtic as he is a former West Ham player also. He was just a nightmare for defenders to play against. I wish him all the best.
  6. Has this been confirmed anywhere else yet?? Cant believe it if it does happen though. He is the 1 player we had to keep and develop a new partnership. We will likely get a Tonel or someone but its a partnership we need to develop at the back, not replace every year. So if Tonel comes we can guarentee he will be off next summer if he is a success. We havent had a defensive partnership that have stayed together for more than 1 season for the best part of 5/6 years now, its getting beyond a joke. The last was Moore and Amo.
  7. Ferguson obviously didnt want him that much. And i dont think he is world class but he is better than Michael Owen. Tevez has proved he doesnt need to be at one of the top teams though, he went to West Ham just for the football. Seems he just wants first team football as much as the cash. Good move for him IMO, and a great coup for Man City, this will help them atrract the next line of players. although i would like them to finish outside the top 8.
  8. Agreed. Unless Celtic raise eyebrows with a signing or 2 of top class players then Im not bothered at all with who they have signed. Also agree we still have the best team, but we do have a 1 or 2 more dead wood to rid also.
  9. One thing that concerns me is the lack of practice the players have with first team action playing 4-5-1 if we are playing 4-4-2 in SPL matches. Switching tactics means switching personnel to an extent and if players arent used to it then we could het a few hidings in the CL. I think the best solution with the current squad is 4-3-3. You can switch this to a 4-5-1 no problem and the personnel doesnt have to be changed much either. if we go 4-5-1 then id like to see the return of lovenkrands. When playing 4-5-1 you need more than 1 pacey player. the one up top has to be able to get around and he needs someone get forward and support him. When we had Lovendkrands a few years back it worked a treat when he played through the middle. He would work well with Miller, Lafferty or Novo IMO.

Seriously, its a good point though. If Bougherra is out then it causes a headache straight away. Weir is reliable but plays using his knowledge rather than mobiliity. The thought of McCulloch at centre half is depressing. But I do think we will sign a centre half soon to solve the headache.
  11. Yip, it will depend on the group we get, then it comes down to how we play (especially at home) and a bit of luck. Ibrox should be a place were no team should feel comfortable but it isnt even that now in the SPL. Teams actually come and play against us rather than sitting with 10 behind the ball. Id say its more of a fortress in Europe than in domestic games at the moment.

Do you not think they would cut it against Inter Milan in the CL???
  13. They must have got those dummies from our treatment room, all recovering from broken legs! What is that all about! That stripe on the shorts is 'different'. Is this our last season with umbro and carling???
  14. Agreed, I thought he should have been with us for at least another 2 seasons. Cracking player! Shame, this is terrible for him.

More like a surprise divorce! I think the club see's this 3 plus Bougherra as the ones who will being in decent transfer fee's, along with Davis and Thomson but the latter 3 are wanted by WS more IMO. Im undecided about McGregor. In 07/08 he was playing out of his skin, then last season he got a bit of that form back. This is a big season for him and it will be interesting to see if he starts as No.1 or Alexander does. McGregor is another who can go off the rails and can be tricky with an attitude.
  16. We have to remember the only clubs who have been linked with Boyd is Birmingham and Cardiff as far i know. Nobody else has looked at him, so they either: 1) dont rate him 2) are waiting until next year to see if he will go on the free 3) understand that he isnt available You'd think a few more clubs would be making enquiries that would have leaked out if they wanted a goalscorer. In saying that, the above doesnt just go for Boyd, it goes for all our players who are available. Ferguson has only been linked with Birmingham and West Brom and Adam with Blackpool. Other than that nobody else has been linked with anyone (or am i missing 1 or 2?).
  17. He isnt going to look out of place in Glasgow then is he
  18. 8 million for trezeguet when we have just stated all our players have a price! Nothing would surprise me in football but i slightly cant see us signing him with his wage demands! Id rather take back hutton TBH seen as Trezeguet is 31.
  19. Yip you have a point if BF leaves and the other 2 not coming back to full fitness but id rather see Davis get a shot in the centre first. I can see thomson coming back strong. But Murphy would be a fine addition. agree RE Aaron, i really hope we at least get to see what he can do. if he cant cut it then fair enough. And agree RE WS discipline but then again so does Moyes have the same ways of comanding respect.
  20. 3-0 win for Motherwell in the 2nd leg. good comeback
  21. Pennent joined Real Zaragoza yesterday. He was one id have enquired about. I wouldnt touch Julian Faubert. He was absolute garbage for West Ham. How he managed to get a move to Real Madrid was astounding! Van der Meyde was a good player for Inter but totally went off the rails for Everton. Far too big a risk for me. Danny Murphy is a fine player and professional and would do a good job for most teams. But we dont need a central midfielder at the moment unless its an attacking one with a good goalscorer record.
  22. Tomas Rosicky is out of contract at Arsenal!!! Thats surprising. He has had a nightmare with injuries in the last year but was playing brilliant along side Fabregas, Flamini, Hleb and Walcott before he got crocked. If he gets fit again then Arsenal could take some stopping next season. I see Jermaine Pennant is a free agent! Id take him at gers for the right wing if we could afford his wages (which is unlikely) How good a job would being a scout be! You get all this info then get to go watch them play and asses them!
  23. Couldnt agree more :fish: But as ive said before his overall game improved in the last few months of the season and it will be all about consistancy from Boyd now to play like that almost every week. If he is entering the last year in his contract i cant see us getting a bid of 3 million for him anyway, clubs would rather wait to see if he pens a deal or can leave on the cheap.
  24. Totally agree with that. He isnt good enough and would be a squad player at best. But I dont think he is the worst player in the squad, id play him ahead of Lee McCulloch.
  25. I thought he left Derby. he looks a decent player and I wouldnt mind WS going in for him.
