  1. I said the exact on another thread. With Celtic its a win win situation. If they win then its good for Scottish football (although I draw the line at them from around the last 16 / 8 of a competition) and if they lose then its great as we like to see them get beat.
  2. I think this is true to an extent and i think the reason is we expect great things from the foreigners. I think it is fair to say players from the continent are technically better and overall fitter and healthier so we get this impression that foreigners are going to be stars. But it isnt always the case when coming to play in the Scottish Game. Legends: Then you have to say who decides who is a legend for YOU! I think every fan is entitled to have their own list of legend, if the club do or do not put them in the 'official' club hall of fame or other fans have different opinions then thats doesnt make that player and more / less of a legend for that fan. we have many threads naming bext XI or next starting XI, perhaps we need a thread 'your legends'.
  3. The return of the wasp! We last saw that over 10 years ago when Di Canio played for them.
  4. Sounds good. The tight sleeves and shoulders in recent seasons has been a bit uncomfortable especially in the heat. Thats one of the reasons I would prefer to get away from Umbro. Was planning on buying it in Sept when over but Im wondering where the hell il be able to buy it if its only out in 1 shop at the moment
  5. Thats fine, thats what makes expression of an opinion a great thing. As a Rangers career and his record count - its fantastic. And I still remember arguing about how good he was in his earlier days. I remember watching a UEFA cup match against Bayern Levenkusen while in Majorca in 1998 and couldnt believe what a talent we had. But he still isnt a true legend for me What I will say is my opinion could change on that with time and hindsight. Perhaps we could go down hill and in 5-10 years time I could be saying I wish we had a Ferguson in the team. It could go the opposite way and may also have forgetten about him - hopefully so as that means the Team have gone onto better things. But this season coming will be interesting to see how morale is with the rest of the squad.
  6. Anyone on here bought the new top yet?? If so, hows the fit? (preferably an answer from the athletic guys on here ) Umbro have been a bit tight round the shoulders in recent season.
  7. 1) As i said, yes ive seen Keane slaughter players but cant recall him doing so when he was wrong. 2) No need to be a lip reader...his hand signals did that for him. And many on here remember the words "get him fucking off". I dont care who your team mate is, you dont do that in the middle of a match, that can wait until half time. 3) Yes maybe he has done it, but on plenty occassions there has been times where he has done the opposite. If your a captain you should know how your teammates will react. Some players will react well to a roasting, but some react the opposite way. Bullshit. A topic of his bad points simply developed on the thread. My overall thoughts on a player were on my first post in the thread if you care to read that. As i said - A truly fine player on his day who had 3/4 wonderful seasons from 1998 - 2003. From 2005-2009 he wasnt ever anything better than average. But a legend? Not for me! A legend has to be a top Pro on and off the park for me. Its a shame when some fans who think he is a legend automatically think the other fans who dont agree are simply remembering the bad points. And the thing about European performances doesnt make him a better player than J Greig etc simply because the format of matches in Europe these days.
  8. Id have to disagree. Yes I agree Keane has slaughtered some team mates on the park but I would say he hadnt shouted at anyone when he was in the wrong, he would have held his hands up and applaued what they were trying to do. Im not saying Ferguson doesnt have winning mentality. Just that on occassion he got on the case of his own team mates at the wrong times and thats been discussed and agreed on here many a time. Sober up and stop looking for an argument
  9. 1) I never saw Keane moan at his team mates when he was in the wrong. 2) I never saw Keane tell Sir Alex to sub a player during a match. 3) I did see Keane put his arm round a player to give them confidence during a match. Keane demanded standards while Ferguson just demanded his own way.
  10. Im scratching my head at that one!!
  11. Gattuso left in the last millenium mate
  12. Pete, you know I havent been a big fergie fan over the last 3 or 4 years either but for me he had more than 1 good season. I thought he was brilliant under Advocaat while playing with Albertz, Gio and Co in the midfield from 98-00. And then he had a good season with De Boer and Arteta when he scored 17 goals. But he became far too much Mr Rangers in his own opinion which had a huge effect on the team and then there was the Le Guen stuff along with being handed the captaincy back amoungst other stuff. For the last 2 seasons you could count on 1 hand how many decent games he had yet he was still auto pick. On his day he was a fine Rangers player but certainly not a Legend on par with the likes of McCoist, Gough, Laudrup etc for me. And as a Rangers captain he was one of the worst for his moaning and off field stuff. Uncomparable to Gough.
  13. Cant stand Spurs and Im disliking Redknapp more and more every season. But what do they need so many RB's for?!! They are off theirs heads to let Hutton go, he is by far the best they have. Id love Hutton back but if we dont get him then I really hope a decent club comes in for him as it would be a crime to see his talent wasted. I feel like emailing West Ham and telling them to go for him. That clown Lucas Neill has left so The Hammers need a RB.
  14. What about bad team of the decade: __________________Letizi________________ I Murray_____Svensen_____McCulloch___Konterman Salenko_____Mlandovic_____Emerson____Capucho ______________Jeffers____Maniero__________ Salenko was class before and after he played for us though. I remember him in either WC 06 or Euro 08 and he was superb.

Yeah 3rd game in charge IIRC and it was his first point as manager.
  16. Moscow could have a league on its own! How many teams do they need?!! There should be a tournament - Moscow teams v London teams, it would take up a season! Tough draw for Celtic though and Dinamo are in the middle of their season. Cant see Celtic getting past them TBH which means a bit more cash for us.

  18. Just back from Indonesia yesterday and was due to go to Jakarta this month. The scary thing is I always stay at Marriott hotels! Im heading to KL tomorrow so I may bump into a few Man U players, the city centre is quite compressed there so if they are out and about they will be easy to see.
  19. Im sure I did this not long ago for 2000-09. The thing with Mols is we had hiim at his best in 1999 so its tough whether to put him in. Van Bronkhorst also played his best in 1998 and 99 so Im not sure if he can go in for me, maybe Arteta could replace him. Arveladze must be another condentor to make the bench. Neil McCann and Peter Lovenkrands will make my bench also. I will do my team after work.
  20. This will be interesting for me. Setanta sold the games to Goal TV for Asia in recent seasons. I have ESPN here so Im hoping I get the games on that channel now. But they normally cover the EPL so Im not sure when the games would be shown. I also wonder about kick off times. Does this mean the 6pm sunday K/o will return?? 65m over 5 years does sound poor, thats about 1.1m per club per season and when you compare that to the 40m a year that the likes of Wolves and Sunderland will get next season it just shows we cant compete.

It depends on the fee TBH and whether Spurs have paid the full amount already. If they are still owe us something then a short price buy-back MAY be on the cards or as Leppard says a season long loan. Would love to see it. I cant work out why Redknapp doesnt rate him, he started great at Spurs but he made a few mistakes in that 4-4 at Arsenal (wwho didnt) so Redknapp didnt play him much after that. At RB Broadfoot was a nightmare at first but his performances came on a bit and he was doing a decent job but I wouldnt give the role to him permanently. Im still not convinced by Whittaker, he always tries to beat 1 man too many. he had a decent run-in last season but nothing spectacular and i thought his better games came at LB last season.
  22. I agree with that. They wanted to jump from A-Z without taking steps B, C etc first and you cant do that. They needed a 'in between' player who isnt a world beater like Kaka or Ronaldo but still shows they are going to the next level of player....Tevez does that IMO. And along with Robinho they have a few players who can be class on their day. But they MUST buy a few solid defensive players. Gareth Barry is a decent signing in the midfield as he knows what the league is all about and he gets about the pitch and doesnt shy out of a tackle. Tevez is a battler up the park but can still produce some great skills. They just lack 2 more defensive top players and they will be in with a shout to mix with the top 6. I still dont think they are any better than Everton or Villa at the moment though, they have it all to prove.
  23. I dont see how moving to Birmingham is such a big deal for these players on huge money. There are tens of 1000s of Scots who have made the move down south and its a 1 hour plane journey and depending on where you stay it can be a 2-8 hour drive. In BFs case, brum to Glasgow wont take longer than 5 hours but im sure he can afford the 1 hour flight. So the homesick argument shouldnt play a part. Ferguson is 7 years older (not sure if wiser would have been the right word) than when he moved to blackburn and has the experience of a move so I cant see what would be holding him back. He and his wife should know this is his last bumper pay day as a footballer so should be grabbing it with 2 hands.
  24. That was my thinking, surely we have to put a clause in to bring him back as we are light in cover. But with WS allowing him to go it says to me that he has something up his sleeve (hopefully). Will be interesting to see how many games he plays.
