How can someone be a reject before being tried? It says something about the management signing policy if they are signing rejects in the first place What 'Reject' have we signed in the past? There is no evidence ANY of our players would improve performances prior to playing for us, hence the purpose of trying someone - so why label them a reject before even being tried? You could say Bougherra was a 'reject' before playing for us as he was at lowley charlton You could say the fact we came runners up in the 2 most important competitions suggests Walters decisions not to try other players instead of those running on empty were wrong. Had he been succesful and won those competitions then you would have a point but you dont. To call someone 9000 miles away an armchair fan is laughable considering Ive probably been to more games than you in the last 4 years.

Footballers are human and have to show emotions to both club and themselves. If it was me who would be missing out on such event while seeing all my teams cheer in glory id feel totally left out and wouldnt be able to put on such a false act. Another thing I dont get is why WS wouldnt even give him a chance regardless if he didnt like the guy personally folliwing the spat. Surely the club / team comes first and you play players who can make a different. Gow should have been tried! Alex Ferguson has had a dislike for quite a few players but he still played them.

I like the 4-3-3 but Id have went with Hartley holding rather than Alexander, thats a poor choice for me, but the proof will be in the pudding. Also, Im not Whittaker' biggest fan but he should well be in there at LB ahead of Davidson! I actually prefer Whittaker at LB to RB. But Im delighted Hutton is back, thats 1 more attacker! I hope we get a performance out of D Fletcher (which is unlikely for Scotland), Im fed up hearing how much people rate him for Man U, yet when he pulls on a Scotland shirt he isnt interested. Quite like the front 3 aswell. Im going for a definate Scotland win!

Quality! Pallister was half asleep then his face lights up and Paul Parker is in shock

Are they double sided with 'The Blue Order' on one side and 'We Are the people' on the other or is it 4 different scarves in total?

He should have definatly got a chance considering the problems we had in a few roles especially on the left and the creative role behind the striker. He seemed like an impact player who had a bit of trickery and could have been the difference in quite a few games we didnt win in the season we were going in all 4 comps. The player had a fresh set of legs at the time but we persisted with players who were running on empty and Ferguson who was carrying an injury and being burnt out.

International weekend is always a chance to get the multi accumulators. 6 homes for me: Leeds v Stockport Notts County v Burton Charlton v Brentford (Big London Derby for Charlton ) France v Romania Poland v N Ireland Scotland v Macedonia 12/1
-
Phil Brown was desperate, he tried to sign tons of players and none of them wanted to go there. Carlton Palmer was on TV at the weekend saying Brown is a arrogant wank and eveything is all about him him him and no player wants to sign for him.

Scotland's Best Chance Of Finishing Second Is...
Gribz replied to fraser54's topic in General Football Chat
Switzerland v Greece is a big game this weekend, they are 2nd and 1st in their group respectively so a defeat for either then to lose there next game would give us a chance. But I just looked at the groups and even if we win our last 2 we are still looking like the 9th best runner up. -
BTW, what channel is this game on in UK?
-
Pretty much spot on except for the bit at the bottom, Im still hoping we qualify for the WC so this is a game I want to win 100%. My preference would be for us to win this game and somehow beat Holland and make the play-offs but I'd replace Burley and Butcher prior to the play-offs with Strachan or Souness. An assistant manager is a hugely important role and in Terry Butcher we have a proven fud at management level despite how good a defender he was.

There are tons of funny quotes but I just saw this just now and found it hilarious:

The SFA never fail to amaze me. We have a massive couple of game coming up and they publicly come out with this the day before the first game!!! Now they may be absolutely true but as head of the SFA these comments should be made no where near the weekend of such important game. It should be made after the fate is known. 99% of Scottish fans know Burley is out of his depth and will be out of a job if we dont qualify but this is just unprofessional and puts added pressure on the team ahead of the game. What a fringe Peat is! (not you Pete )

Yip 2 good points. I was going to elaborate a bit more on my earlier post but wanted to beat the traffic. My point was the likes of Baxter and Greig are RFC legends and rightly so. But it is unlikely that more than 1 or 2 poster on here who can remember them playing so they are unlikely to be legends / favourites in the eyes of the future generations but they remain club legends - thats all the history of the club. Each fan should make their own mind up else its just like religion and having to follow the previous generation. An interesting thread would be to see who everyone would have in there own personal list of favourties / legends to them. Agree RE Hendry. I thought he was the perfect signing and should have had a longer Gers career regardless if he came as a player around 32.
-
Thats the thing, everyone is entitled to have the OWN legends and the club can have its official list. Thats the benefit of opinion! Just because the club does or doesnt put someone in the HoF shouldnt take away what a certain player meant to the fan(s). If Fraser thinks Weir is a legend in HIS opinion then thats great. Gazza for me is legend.

Dietmar Hamann must be close enough to an age where he could secure a 4 year deal at Ibrox?????
-
Id take Volz or Lauren for RB. Lucas Neill is an imposter, he turned down a years deal at West Ham as he thought Sunderland were coming in for him but Steve Bruce realised 75k a week is laughable for such a bombscare.

Yip 1992 v Airdrie. He missed the 1993 cup final with a broken leg and he didnt play in the 5-1 win over Hearts in 96. He did play in 1998 against Hearts (and scored) but we got beat 2-1 that year. The other 2 finals we were involved in during Ally's time was the defeat to Dundee Utd in 1994 (which we should have won to be double treble winners - mix up at the back between Mary McPherson and Ally maxwell) and 1989 when we lost to the mhanks although we had a perfectly good goal chopped off 2 mins after they scored.
-
I hope your right Fraser, another play off would be great but we have to give Macedonia a bit of a thumping which I cant see then beat Holland which couldnt get much harder regardless if they play a weakened team. Dream scoreline against Macedonia would be 3-0 but IF we win I cant see it being more than 1 goal. Burley just doesnt have the players confident enough or the same mindset Walter or Eck had. Plus having Butcher and Pressley there is a liability IMO. Im not even sure 2 wins would put us in the place off's, I can see us being the 9th best runner up then missing out which is a bit of a shite rule but we knew the score before a ball was kicked. If this is to be Burleys last couple of matches i hope we see our strongest available team go at full pelt and go for the win. Having Hutton back is a huge bonus from an attacking point of view. It means we can have the likes of Flecther, Brown and Hartley in the middle and get width from Hutton, Maloney and McFadden.
-
You may have a point, if he plays as consistant as he has done so far and we win the league then at the end of the season we could judge. At the moment its still a no for me but who knows - 2 titles in 2 seasons plus another cup may put him on the way.!!
-
Have to applaud you for your committment to Scotland Fraser. There are many bears who dont give a toss about Scotland probably because International football is perceived as boring. The thought of international weekend is boring but when it comes around it ends up not being that bad. When I lived over there I used to always be up for going to Scotland games with my mates who supported Aberdeen but typically none of them wanted to go.
-
As Norris says, he conducts himself as high as a Pro should. I would say its more tricky for a defender to become a legend than a goalscorer or a midfield who are easily hero's with goals. If we had him for nearer 5 years and he played to the same level then he would probably be in with a shout. Gazza was a different level Fraser, he wasnt far from being one of the best in the world at his peak. He would score world class goals out of nothing about 15 times a season. Gazza is more than a Rangers legend, he is a legend in England and probably the light blue half of Rome.
-
Legend might be a bit strong but he certainly wins everyones admiration. Its a pity we never signed him 10 years ago when he left Hearts. He managed to stroll the EPL for a number of years without being over glamorous or a star. Nobody would grudge the man another title or few cups and he would deserve it for a great career. It great to see him get recalled to the Scotland line up for this weeks games. If we overcome the odds and qualify for the WC next summer it would be a fantastic way for Weir to end his career at the WC. And if we do qualify it would be a crime if he didnt get to go should he not be injured. He should certainly be considered for a defensive coach at Murray pk once he hangs up his boots.

Ridiculous amount, even the Championship games can be on if its decent match, but it can all be on at silly times though especially the champions league. Maybe I'll send a ladyboy over to you to unvirgin you ya wee shite

Considering i live here I can vouch that this is pretty much true except it goes further, the majority only really care about Liverpool, Man U and Arsenal. Chelsea are getting more popular though and Man City are getting quite a bit of media coverage now. They do love the EPL and the amount of TV coverage out here is 2nd to none - every EPL game is on live but if you go to pubs you will only get to see the big 4. La Liga and Serie A is on the up due to the coverage now also. Only recently have they started put these leagues been on TV and la Liga are beginning to benefit - or maybe barca and Real. The German, Dutch and SPL are all covered also but there is little interest.
