I remember when we signed him, Pete said he wouldnt give us a run of about 5 games due to being injury prone. He was very right. i still think the guy is decent with skill and pace to beat a man but he is just far too lightweight, especially for the SPL

I heard that pest (she calls every week). All Boyd done was look at the fans from the touchline and put his hands to his ears then when he walked back to celebrate with Miller he laughed and pointed to the fans with his thumb as if to say "haha to them" (I assume thats where she mistook the wanking gesture) then he lifted his shirt to show his flabby tummy I thought Chick Young was spot on by playing a belly dance tune to every caller. Football will die if there is no emotion. I bet if it was a falkirk player that pest of a lady would have loved it.

Aberdeen havent won at Ibrox for going on 19 years so does that mean they have been lying down to us aswell? Why are people lowering themselves to be 'celtic minded' that they laid down?? Aberdeen are shite full stop. They have always raised their game at home for Rangers and the odd celtic match and thats it. Their record in Glasgow is awful.

This is the main point. Once you have players doing the basics right then football is an easy game and better play will come naturally. I also think we do have a decent squad but the level of consistancy have been rock bottom, but thats what you get when changing the team so often with players playing well out of position. Who invented Lee McCulloch anywhere other than a left sided attacker or a striker? Since moving away from that positions he has been awful. How many foul throws did Kirk Broadfoot do last season?? I think our players have a bit of talent but are still being taught the Scottish style of play which ignores playing actual football. People think someone giving 200% with grit is enough to show his all and love for playing in the shirt. IMO you need 1 or 2 players like that in your team to win the ball then the rest must be able to get the ball down and play.

Madjid Bougherra unlikely to be risked against Kilmarnock
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Back 3 of Bougherra, Wilson and Papac would be great to see -
Advocaat would have been a good target aswell but he has just joined Belgium.

How about we just set our standards and expectations a bit higher rather than going with run of the mill SPL managers! There seems to be this thing with the SFA that after Berti vogts we shouldnt go for another non-Scottish manager. I beg to differ, there are plenty Englishmen Id be happy with who would bring more the job. Steve McLaren, Terry Venebles, Kevin Keegan, Roy Hogdson. Yet if we want to stick with one of our own we should aim as high as possible. David Moyes, Walter Smith, Gordon Strachan, George Graham, along with a good number 2 like joe Jordan, Gary McAllister.
-
Jee Whizz! Calderwood, Collins, Levein and Jefferies! Does nobody want to qualify for the next tournament! There is quite a few talented managers out there and some good younger ones also who could be involved the set up but these 4 shouldnt get a sniff.
-
I think Gary Mac would be a good choice for assistant. He isnt really proven as a No.1 and the SFA HAVE to get this appointment right. Its been too long since we played at a tournament so a proven experienced manager should be appointed. But id be happy with McAllister was part of the set up.

Some good names on the list but some shockers also. Alex Ferguson shouldnt be on the list as he wont take it. The names Ive picked out that id like to see would be: David Moyes - again like SAF he probably wouldnt take it. Paul Lambert - Did a good job at Colchester and now doing well at Norwich Steve Clarke - Quality number 2, not sure how he would do as top man. Guus Hiddink - Would be perfect but very unlikely. Gordon Strachan - will he be regretting going for the Boro job? Walter Smith - Contract runs out at ibrox in Jan. George Graham - Long time admirer but been out the game a long time. Terry Venebles - not on the list but id like to see it. Although same as George Graham Owen Coyle - Done very well with Burley. Kevin Keegan - Not on list. Would have us playing a 1-1-8 formation and would probably only last 3 games but would be a interesting choice.

Disgrace if its true and a boycott should definatly take place. Im also for the case that abandoned matches should start next time with the previous scoreline. Say we were 4-0 up then it was called off and we lose the re-match!!
-
Id never heard of him either, just saw him on SA's post.
-
Its never good to see someone getting the sack but Burley shouldnt have been in the job after the Holland game (as Gav said) and therefore the SFA partly to blame. But the full set up has been wrong since day 1 with Pressley and Butcher being part of the team. Yet Burley moves aside and Jim Jefferies is linked

Get it posted up here then

Shame for the lad, have to say I thought he was going to be a top class defender.
-
The SFA are a joke. They have to 'discuss' this first? He has proved to be a imcompetant manager and no Scotland team should be losing 3-0 to Wales except Berti Vogts team.
-
Looking at that team really reminds of how bad Scottish football has went in the last 20 years. Its not all the players fault that the system has not brought them better, and it may be unfair to compare but lets take that squad against players in the last 2 decades to show how backwards we have went. Huttons form when he was at Ibrox along with McFadden would be the only exceptions. Gordon & McGregor v Leighton & Goram - Gordon and McGregor are good keepers but Leighton and The Goalie were world class and IMO as good as any other keepers of all time. Defence - Berra, Dixon, Caldwell, McManus, 40 year old Weir v Gough, Hendry, Mcleish, Miller, 25 year old Weir, McNamara Midfield - Brown, Fletcher, Naismith v McAllister, Lambert, Collins, McCall, Souness Strikers - Boyd, Iwelumo, Miller v McCoist, Durie, Dalglish
-
Absolute disgrace! its laughable how bad the SFA and Burley are. If he doesnt get the sack from this game then he will never get the sack. 3-0 from fuckin Wales??? Ross County would have got a better result.
-
On paper this should be a cracking game, Im always a fan of the home nations but right now both squads are as poor as they have ever been and it will be like a championship match. Burley had a nightmare campaign last time so he has a few games to try turn it around else the SFA will once again look stupid.
-
I see your point but when we only play such teams twice a season it makes them slightly better in the long run. I agree the current split is laughable as it can make it unfair when you have to play some teams away from home 3 times in 1 season and the team in 7th place can finish with more points than the team in 6th and 5th yet cant go above them. But it was actually decent last season and the SPL got lucky that everyone had something to play for going into the split, but that shouldnt be an excuse for it. If they are going to make the split then it should be after playing teams twice, then you can play the others home and away with no disadvantages.
-
Long term thats a probability but Wilson has only played a few games next to mentor Weir so I wouldnt put too much hype on him yet after what happened to fleck last season, but everything so far from Wilson has been promising. I never thought id say we would miss Broadfoot, but we have. He is a limited player (to quote Burley - yet what player isnt?) but he always got stuck in and had some fine games at RB and had Mcgeady in his back pocket in a few games. I think there is a bit more to come from Broadfoot but only if he can start to take Throw-In's properly!
-
Ive said for 4 or 5 years we should be playing 3-5-2. This brings an extra midfielder / winger in and keeps 2 upfront. WS played this in the 90s but had players well out of position like Craig Moore wearing the No.7 shirt in midfield hence why it didnt work. This system would benefit Davis as IMO his best role is playing inside right with a men wider than him and 2 tucked further in (1 holding - thomson / 1 offensive - Mendes). I would even say Weir could still fit in this system, you dont need all 3 centre halfs to be pacey, you just dont let Weir venture up the park. Plus we have Broadfoot coming back who could also fit into this system, so we have Bougherra, Weir, Wilson, Papac and Broadfoot all capable. With everyone fit: :kirk: :mb: :sp: :sd::me: :nn: :pm: :kb: Subs: :na::wilson::kt::kl::sn::jf:

I really hope Cardiff get promoted this season. I still think a breakaway will happen eventually whether it be some Euro league even if it meant staying in the SPL also. But its time to put this on the back burner and get the SPL / SFL to get their finger out their asses and make the Scottish game more attractive. Its embarrassing that the EPL can easily get their top men round a table to look at ways of keeping their league attractive for years to come whilst we have fat cats who cant organise a thing. The SPL MUST change to at least 16 teams and then set up a SPL 2, then the lower leagues have to be regionalised. I cant believe the current SPL bosses are more worried about stadia criteria than the future of the game!! Dundee, Partick, Dunfermline, Clyde to name a few all have stadia equal to St Johnstone, St Mirren and Falkirk etc so there is no excuse not to make a 16 team top league. At the moment we have a 2 team league then Hibs, Dundee Utd and Hearts (although crap this season) pushing on for a 3rd spot....if we got a few more teams in the league it may push these teams on even more and make them bigger which would make the league more interesting. Right now its a lottery for places between 3rd and 12th because there is no competition playing someone 4 times a season.
