  1. We were awful first half and we barely got into their final 3rd until the goal. The long balls were cracking me up. Naismith was painful to watch, Ive never seen what he has to offer and dont even know if he has a preferred position but he shouldnt be a wide player when better options like Novo, Beasley, Fleck are available. Thought Thomson and Edu couldnt get into the game until periods in the second have when Edu seemed to push forward a bit. But Davis should have been in the centre from the start. And Id say we missed McCulloch playing centre mid, having a bigger physical pressance might have allowed more time on the ball to break. When you think of it it was 2 unlucky goals to concede, a wicked deflection for the first then a howler from Alexander for the 2nd. Kenny Miller was still good even though he looks like he is running on empty from a long season, very unlucky twice in the 2nd half. Thought Whittaker and S Smith struggled althought Smith did have a cracking tackle on Keane in the first half to prevent his shot. There was a few times when Whittaker was attempting solo's just outside his own box to beat his man - he got away with but thats a dangerous game.
  2. Probably the best debate on here for a long time, good posts with no bickering. 8 months ago I would have seen both sides to the argument and probably went along with totti, Gisabeer and Gav IF we were in the position to make an improvement. I simply couldnt take anymore hidings in Europe and dodgy tactics. But what WS has put himself through for the club this season has been brilliant, admirable and he has gained more respect. After going out of Europe he turned it around, worked with no contract, no money and had bankers telling him to sell his players. There are a number of clubs around the UK in freefall with money problems and some with threat of relegation - Portsmouth and Hull are 2 examples but they collapsed even when taking a gamble on changing their boss. Crystal Palace are another and their manager legged it to the other side of London at the first chance (Typical Warnock). Yet what did WS do? He installed morale and confidence into the least talented Rangers team in over 2 decades to still romp the SPL! Nobody will deny we only have a handful of players who would be picked in a bigger league. As things stand we need to remain top of the SPL for another 2 seasons to bring the debt down but there can be no more Kanuas performances in Qualification. Its all about being patient and persevering until things take a turn off the pitch - yes the odd Saturday is going to be ugly with boring matches against St Mirren and Co but this is as much down to the poor standard of the SPL more than how bad our times are! There isnt a better man in place who will give us the chance of winning the SPL. We are not going to get anyone better like a Alex Ferguson, David Moyes or good Euro coach. At the same time there is no point going sideways and appointing a Billy Davies, another SPL manager (thats going backwards) or giving McCoist the job, because will they actually improve us?? And absolutely no way do we want to end up in Celtic's position by splashing cash on a supposed "footballing" manager and giving him money to spend only to pip Dundee Utd to 2nd place! There is a minimum of 10 million coming in from Champions League money, and if Celtic continue to play as good as they currently are then that CL money could almost double because they wont be in the group stages. Then we just hope for a kind draw! So Im hoping the players go off on a long relaxing break in the summer, come back fresh and do it again next season. There is only a few of them going to World Cup and those who are in South Africa probably wont go past the groups stages - no disrespect to Algeria or the USA.

IMO we won the league in December by giving teams a thumping left, right and centre and banged in goals for fun whilst played well. That gave us a platform of confidence and belief for the rest of the season and even let us have the odd blip in performance. Obviously winning the title in the last minute like 2003 and 2005 gives a extreme ecstatic feeling and they are great. But you cant have them every season. Plus I sometimes prefer to win it early, it shows we are the top team in the land by a distance. Added to the fact we get to go to Parkhead and rub it in their faces makes it brilliant ââ?¬â?? Great decision by the SPL to pencil in the last OF game after we had won it!
  4. i think what today shows is Ally McCoist is far from being the right person to suceed WS. When AM picks the team there is fat too many cracks at the back.
  5. So we either go to Parkhead as Champions or go there to win it on the their patch! Sounds good all round to me. :spl:
  6. Agreed, he has always played well at his other clubs, he just hasnt had any luck at all at Ibrox. Id be very happy with a Bougherra and Webster partnership assuming Bougherra can be persuaded to stay.
  7. Aberdeen at home is a gimme. Hearts away is always a tough one but with Jefferies appointed there I actually fear them less, they are not so unpredictable. And we had a great record against him last time so 3 points. Surely we cant worry about St Johnstone!!! 9 points althought Id take 7. But this is where the squad should get used. Edu, McCulloch, Thomson and Davis can get through 3 games in midfield with Beasley, Fleck and Novo playing wide roles if need be. We just need to keep Miller and Boyd fit upfront, but Naismith and Lafferty are on standby.
  8. To go from a poor first few months of the season to romping away with 2nd title in a row speaks volumes about Walter. I honestly thought he should have went earlier in the season. And to only have 1 defeat all season plus our goal difference is double Celtic's - majestic stuff considering we havent signed a player since Aug 2008 and are in a mess off the field!
  9. Or 5 wins plus a draw in the last OF game would do it also
  10. Best scenario is for Bougherra to stay and partner Wilson with possibly an inform Webster being back also. But I can see Bougherra being sold for a few million and Webster may fancy first team football at Tannadice as he is has been jixed at Ibrox. If Weir retires it leaves Wilson (if signs new contract), Broadfoot, Papac and McCulloch moving back into defence.
  11. Good result but not sure about the performance. Read it was all the Czech's. Fletcher missing again in a Scotland shirt? Hopefully we get B Ferguson back. Plus with McFadden and 1 or 2 others to come back from injury our squad looks stronger again.
  12. Red car and the blue car had a race... All red wants to do is stuff his face.... He eats everything he sees from trucks to prickly trees... But smart old blue he chose the milkyway....
  13. Obviously a 4-5-1 from Levein otherwise I cant think of a reason why Boyd wouldnt be playing. Dorrans is a winger so if McFadden doesnt make it then Dorrans will come in on the left i assume which means it has to be a 4-5-1. Silly if he is playing McFadden upfront and not having Boyd as the standby. And what is with having 2 on standby, arent the rest of the squad on standby? I think Whittaker is more deserving of a place than Dixon and Im far from Whittakers biggest fan but I think he has always done better at LB - throw in 10 goals this season compared to a player many havent heard of - and thats not blue tinted spec on. Other than that its not a bad looking team. Thomson coming in is quite refreshing as its about time he got his international career on track
  14. Didnt Caldwell some how win this last year though? Id say McGregor should be up there with any of that names. Some of his saves and performances have been top notch and worth a few points. The save at parkhead in the 1-1 game was incredible and away to Falkirk he had an outstanding double save while we were drawing from which we went up the park and scored. POTY McGregor for me followed by Davis.
  15. Thats the best Scotland shirt Ive seen in a long time. Just shows Adidas are the top dogs when it comes to football shirts.
  16. Thats a song and half...i cant stop singing it....
  17. Absolutely! The Goons are right back in the title hunt for my 10/1 bet. And West Ham are next up at the Bridge! We'll go there and stuff them.
  18. Brilliant. I must admit I like Bellamy also, never shy for a word or 2. When Tevez squared up to terry Bellamy was the first one there with a few words to say.
  19. Unbelieveable to lose Ramsay for a year but only 3 points behind Chelsea when they have to go to Liverpool, Man Utd, Spurs and blackburn.... Goons for the title :spl:
  20. Yessssss Tevez 1-1
  21. Bastards. Fat Frank scored. Never mind Gooners....Chelsea still have got Blackburn, Spurs, Man Utd and Liverpool all AWAY and West Ham at home so plenty points dropped there.
  22. Just a quick snub by Bridge while most Man City players didnt look at Terry, while other Chelsea players gave Bridge a big handshake. Pity Vieira wasnt playing to add some spice from his Arsenal rivalry against Chelsea. But City should still be good enough for a point.

    Arthur Numan

Yip not any more...but he was out of the game for a long time. Absolute Gent of a man and would loved to have seen him in a role at Ibrox.
  24. That was the Van Vossen miss game when Gascoigne missed a pen and Goram saved Van Hooijdonks pen in the last minute. Nov 1996 to be precise But I cant single out a Laudrup memory. But if i had to then it would be my first trip to an OF game...Hampden Oct 1994 (Celtic played their home games there that season) when we won 3-1 and laudrup tore away from Boyd, rounded Marshall and stuck it in the net.

Our scouting system hasnt been the best over the years. Before the financial mess its been long said we should be looking to getting past players who showed great affection for the club to do a bit of scouting or coaching for us. Numan, Laudrup, Albertz, Wilkins should all be consider for such roles.
