  1. Na na.....They have both todays and tomorrows games the right way round so I can watch the good games at a decent hour Sorry I meant to type Holland v The yellow Cowdenbeath
  2. Holland v Cowdenbeath tonight.....could be a classic. Robben coming back into the Dutch team gives them a different dimension. Was there a better player in Europe in the last few months of the season just finished??? Im going for 2-1 the Dutch but they might need extra time.
  3. I read on Sky that Lennon had recalled him. Celtic very active in the transfer market with Ins and Outs yet nothing happening at Ibrox. Im not too concerned by this as WS likes to do his business quietly, but I do wonder about that standard of player. We might go for Hearts and Dundee Utd players while they are bringing in EPL players (Bullard and Campbell). - OK those 2 are wrong side of 30 but the SPL is to be taking on a year per year season at the moment from our point of view and winning it is vital for finances. I know who id prefer to sign if the EPL names DO perform!!
  4. 6 if you include Papac who was originally a centre half. 7 if you include McCulloch
  5. Was always happening and a good move. Although I would say this is the seaosn he has to be a bit part player and probably kept for important games. Im sure he can sit out games against St Mirren at home. Personally I hope we retain Bougherra and Id have Webster or Weir alongside Bougherra. As for Wilson, with Benitez gone it leaves him in a tricky situation. The young man still hasnt played alongside anyone who hasnt mentored him. Weir possibly carried him through games and had a eye on him the full time.
  6. This is where I think having the extra year last season will mature him. Once he shakes off a few doubters and shakes off the sillyness of rash tackles etc I think he will come good. He has all the ingredients of pace, strength etc and he can finish! Must play through the middle though or he wont progress IMO. If anything playing wide will make him more frustrated.
  7. Hilarious pic! Although is Campbell not a bit old for Celtic?? All jokes aside, i still think Campbell is a good defender and would cruise the SPL. He wasnt bad at all for Arsenal last season.
  8. Last nights game made me wonder if the EPL is as good as its made out to be. Ronaldo cruised that league for 3 seasons yet he is another who didnt show up at the world cup. Good interview from Roy Keane on BBC website saying he thinks Capello is brilliant. It is likely to be tongue in cheek but he was right in saying the players get away with murder and hardly any of them had a good season. He said James, Johnson, Terry, Upson, Barry, Gerrard and Heskey all didnt have good seasons. A Cole had just came back from injury. He said only Milner and Rooney had good seasons so the myth about these players doing well week in week out is nonsense.
  9. When you throw Ian Wright into that list it shows Englands talent has went backwards. They had some cracking players in the 90s.
  10. Yip I had the same when I lived in Hertfordshire especially at school....Haggis, Hamish, Jokes about kilt although it was a minority and and I gave as good as I got.
  11. Nah, England were shite :spl: But was thinking this earlier, 16 teams went out last week so its likely our scouting was finished then. McCoist will probably report back to WS and they will be doing research on any potential targets. The window doesnt open until Thursday so any move cant be made until then. WS always likes to do things on the quiet so its likely we wont know who are his targets. But Im looking forward to a signing or 2.
  12. Ferguson also got rid of Van Nistelrooy and he felt his poaching style of game wasnt good for the rest of the team..did it work? - they won 3 titles! Cant compare us to Man Utd's level of player but who is to say ridding a paocher wont make the midfield and strikers play better and get goals from all over the place. We did it in the 2002/03 season.
  13. I know your just giving an example but Boyd isnt worth 20k a week. Our top players like Bougherra, Davis and Weir play well against any opposition. Boyd does it against run of the mill SPL sides - ok we still need to win these games - but when he plays against Celtic or in Europe you just know he will barely get a touch never mind a goal. As Hippo says, he had a few games where his holding up play improved but that was it.
  14. I think Lafferty does have a bit of talent but there has been 2 things holding him back (apart from injuries). 1) is playing as a winger and 2) his attitude. Reading that article, I didnt realise he was still only 22, I thought a few years older than that, so hopefully this season he is a year more mature. If he gets a run upfront with Miller I think they will score plenty.
  15. Mouthwatering quarter finals in store already. Germany v Argentina and Brazil v Holland. I half fancied Chile to cause an upset last night but they didnt show up.
  16. I agree. To be a top player you have to tick all the boxes which includes attitude unless you have a unbelievable level of ability like Maradona, Best, Gascoigne etc who were all a bit on the bad behavied side but had so much ability they could get away with it. Cole is a good full back but I compare him to Stuart Pearce and would take Pearce in my All time England XI over Cole easily. As for Defoe, I agree with Hippo on Boyd but not Defoe. Defoe is a good little forward and in a 4-4-2 should have started in all the games.
  17. The EPL is the best for entertainment and viewing but as far as quality goes the German and Spanish leagues are easily on par. England think football is played on paper, ok they have quality players likr Gerrard and Rooney but they dont use them to their strengths and now they have a huge post mortem.
  18. At the same time Id like to see us put aside a decent wage for a good winger. We have no width in the team at all and I dont want Davis wasted out right for another year. With Davis and Fleck creating in the middle id say we have enough in lafferty and Miller upfront to get goals and Davis could easy get 10 himself playing in his proper role.
  19. Headbutts camera then smacks it [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ks1E399eNqA&playnext_from=TL&videos=eZwynZSzAuU&feature=rec-LGOUT-exp_stronger_r2-2r-6-HM]YouTube- Gabriel Heinze EPIC CAMERA FAIL[/ame]
  20. Id have the boy Mueller on that list, whilst Ozil and Schweinstiger were good I though Mueller was outstanding and A Cole couldnt deal with him. England were absolutely torn apart, Germany were superb to watch. England had a brief 15 min spell around half time were they went up a gear but they are so disjointed with Gerrard playing out left. I had to laugh when Heskey came on for Defoe...they are chasing goals and he brings on someone who cant score. Regardless that Lampards shot was over the line Germany were far better and even the England fans are saying that.
  21. Ghana were good, 2 cracking goals from them. Uruguay were a good bet also, I had a tenner on 2-1 which was nice.
  22. Until we see a offer above 7.5 million we should bin all incomging faxes on Bougherra. Liverpool dont have a manager yet and Hodgson wasnt linked with him for Fulham so I dont know if he would want him. Hamburg can piss off with 5 million. If they offer us a decent player plus 5 million then its a possible consideration but Bougherra is easy worth 9 million if lescott was worth 22 million.
  23. Last 16 now. Uruguay v South Korea - home win Mexico v Argentina - away win Germany v England - score draw, leaning towards away win USA v Ghana - no score draw, leaning towards home win Paraguay v Japan - home win Holland v Slovakia - home win Brazil v Chile - away win!!!! Spain v Portugal - Oooomfff...home win
  24. So you think Boyd was a good "player"...he could nip past defenders? trap a ball? Bring others into play? Track back and help out?...etc Rather then say its ludicrous how about defending the above. If i was alone in this thinking then you might have a point but id say 50% of the support agree. ive already said his goalscoring record was awesome but im talking about his PLAY. McCoist still tops the charts and Super Ally was an all round striker. Can you imagine Boyd getting on the end of Hateley's cross at Elland Road in 1993? No chance!
  25. Agree with the flying hippo! Boyds departure wont affect us in the slightest IMO. Anyone who thinks it will fails to look back to before Boyd was even signed. In fact i can see us playing better. Boyd was one of the worst "footballers" to pull on a Rangers shirt. He was an enigma, as he scored a crazy amount of goals (albeit against the average SPL teams) but I cant remember him having more than 5 good footballing performances. Plus he NEVER played well against good opposition...his record against Celtic and in Europe speaks for itself. (looking forward to some mighty abuse for this post )
