  1. Yip agree with this also. Up until 2 seasons ago Id have loved to see us play Liverpool, Man Utd, Chelsea and even the mid table sides but if anything Id rather see us now in a league with Ajax, Porto and the likes. Unless the SPL really revamps the Scottish game I can see the league still declining but its playing in a bad league is not as bad as being 150 million in debt. And Agree your point that another Laudrup and Gazza would be silly money. Football was changing when they came to Rangers, you seldom got a player who was individually brilliant and Laudrup kicked off a new style of player that wasnt previously seen much in Scotland. Both Laudrup and Gazza were top international level players and would be the other side of 20 million if they were playing in la Liga or the EPL at the moment. Ask any England fan who was better Gascoigne or the 18 million Gareth Barry. Barry will be lucky to be remembered in 10 years.
  2. I thought the same about Beasley. Weiss is a bit more physical than Beasley though and will probably have more good games away from home.
  3. Any pics Pete? Dortmunds stadium is as good as it gets IMO. Bayern were the form team in Europe last season and were playing some terrific stuff. I like the german league, probably 2nd to the EPL for me.
  4. As I said in another thread, what do fans want? Better ties before CL games to prepare or easier games after? I dont think the fixture list would allow home games both before and after Cl games, and seen as the fixture list is made before all SPL clubs got knocked out - what we should expect is support from the SPL to prepare BEFORE CL games IMO. We didnt get that this week, it was rank awful having to go to Pittodrie on a SUnday then Hearts on Sat lunch time, but we gave the middle finger to that. However we have 4 HOME games before our remaining CL ties all to be played on Saturdays.....if they were away games we'd be complaining we are getting tough matches to not prepare us right. No pleasing some people.
  5. Your believing it for once

    Jelavic

Lol....fannys. TBH his overkick was top notch, made Berbatovs looks slow motion, it doesnt matter who it was against the techique was brilliant. But apart from that he has fitted in just ok, no where near Dado Prso level.

    Jelavic

Quite cute! Needs a wee hair cut though.
  8. Danny, I used to agree with a lot of your posts but now your coming out with stuff that makes Scotland such a depressing country - i.e. ever the pessimist. I say Weiss up to you. The lad hasnt done jack shit wrong and was electric in his first game, very good in his next 2 and not out of his depth today. He is never going to be a Laudrup who will change a game as he is only 20 but give the lad a chance, the more he plays at home especially then the more we will see a quality player. 3 MOTM games at the World Cup in the summer also! Go on the Weiss!
  9. Would like to see the next 7 fixtures. Yet remember we've had Man U and Bursposor (sp) in there. But yeah Celtic are a bit like Chelsea IMO, the fixtures have fell kind to them. We'll stick 5 past Hamilton at Ibrox while Jossie's Giants will draw at Tynecastle.
  10. Thought he was out for donkeys??? Your right though, Brown is an absolute cheese bag.

    This week

Lets not forget, as Juff mentions it has been Pittodrie and Tynecastle away plus the Turkish Champs in midweek all in the space of 6 days. 9 pts picked up.

Yip Im in that club also, I havent celebrated goals like today and Pittodrie for a good few years. The style of play is 1 thing and we are looking shit hot on the attack. I feel we have got the right blend at the moment although the defence could tighten up a bit but there is no flat play in our attack at all - and i dont find it a coincidence Boyd left.

    Mr Naismith

Ive been a critic of him since he signed, but thought ht looked great in pre season when I watched us in Australia. he looked a different player. He has carried that into the first 9 games this season and is proven me wrong and im glad to eat my words. He has to do it over a season to prove he is quality but he is going about it the right way. Awesome stuff. Take a bow son! I could never see this in Boyd but Naismith has much much more in his locker.
  16. Is McFadden injured? Going by form, from that squad Id play this against the Czech's (4-5-1 / 4-3-3) then bring Flecther back in for Spain. _____________________McGregor___________________ Hutton_________McManus______Weir_________Whittaker ______Adam__________McCulloch_________Robson_____ __Naismith______________Miller__________Dorrans_____
  17. As happy as I am with the win I fear Valencia could rip us apart playing the defensive tactics. They are a different class team and if we allow them / invite them to attack and hope we hit them on the break we will get beat. Ive no problem playing a 5-4-1 away to Man Utd or Valencia but at home a 4-5-1 or 4-4-2 is my preferred way to go and I can see is playing better. The 5-4-1 isolates Miller who is domestically on fire. Naismith does get forward to support but he wont get near as much time when coming up against La Liga's form team. It seems this is going to be Walter's CL team and as much as I dont like to say it - I can see it running out of steam eventually. Up next is a double header v Valencia then a tricky away tie in Turkey....3 really tough games where I would say 3-4 points is a must. I dont want to settle for 3rd place - that is the minimum for me, while we are sitting on 4 pts from 6 I want to see us go for qualification to the last 16.
  18. I dont think its a case of wanting him to fail, well it isnt with me anyway, Its more of a case of being proved right he will get found out as a poor player in a better league. His level was against run of the mill SPL sides and the SPL is on decline and has been for years. Jelavic, Miller, Naismith would all be miles ahead of him right now and its not just the goals, look how well some of our attacking play has been. A lot said we should have built the forward play around Boyd but when see goals like our 2nd at Pittodrie thats the reason I always wanted more flair and knew we would bang in goals from everywhere without him.
  19. 3-2 would have probably been the last score Id have bet from them.
  20. Aberdeen 5/1 Draw 11/4 Rangers 4/7 Correct Score (Gers) 1-0 is 6/1 2-0 is 6/1 (easy money) 2-1 is 7/1 3-0 is 9/1 3-1 is 9/1 3-2 is 28/1 4-0 is 22/1 (well worth a fiver) First Goalscorer: Miller - 7/2 Jelavic 9/2 - Tenner on that Beattie 5/1 Lafferty 6/1 Naismith 7/1 Weiss 8/1 Davis 14/1 (I'll have some of that) McCulloch 14/1 Bougherra 25/1 Weir 40/1
  21. Yip, how he never pulled the strongs to get Given or Schwazer is beyond me. Given would be the difference between Arsenal winning the league and not IMO. Read about Gordon, is he gets fit he is a good keeper but Given would be the best choice.
  22. Id be surprised if Strachan is still Boro manager this time next week. Yet whoever replaces him has a poor SPL XI to inherit. His signings have been terrible, there isnt 1 former SPL player id say was a good player and I inclulde Kevin Thomson in that - he is one I didnt rate much at ibrox. I always thought Scott Brown was the better player between KT and him, but he went to the wrong club and has went downhill since.
  23. He could be worth a thread on his own - but Almunia is an absolute joke. Its often said the likes of Shay Given are worth 8 pts a season but Almunia is worth -10. West broms second goal should have been saved, it was a pass back and he was like a cardboard cut out. He cost Arsenal the title last season with og's against Man Utd and Birmingham and already he cost them 3 pts today. Thats the difference between Ferguson and Wenger. Both are stubborn but Ferguson isnt scared to change things while Wenger persists with things he believes are right. Man Utd had a few keepers after Schmeichel and Ferguson changed it a few times until he got it right and wasnt afraid to bin the likes of Van der Gouw, Bosnich, Carroll and Taibi. Almunia isnt even an average keeper, he is absolutely terrible.
  24. Negative fuckers! 0-1 Hibs!
  25. See! Chelsea's first game of the season and they are beat. Well fuckin Done City! Arsenal for the title
