2-0 Miller Good goal, Naismith picked up a good ball on the right, fed thru to Lafferty, pulled it back to Miller who lashed it home. Naismith moved out on the right and is playing well. The Bears are in fine voice.
-
BTW the team is 4-4-1-1 but changed to almost 4-3-3 going forward. McGregor Bougherra Webster Weir Broadfoot Davis McCulloch Edu Lafferty Miller Naismith Edit - front 3 looking good. Signings??? We dont need any!!!
-
If anyone is awake can watch the game live on Aussie TV. 1-0 Gers after half an hour - Edu. http://www.iraqgoals.net/10371-blackburn-rovers-vs-rangers-fc-.html

He isnt a bad striker but a bit slow. Im more concerned about midfield especially wide areas. It does look like Naismith could be first pick there and Lafferty, Fleck and Davis will be played there also.
-
TBH I think we have had that in the last week from Bain. His Q and A interview was good and honest. As they say lets wait until the end of the transfer window before mentioning if they are talking BS or not. The squad number at the end of the window will reveal all.

Despite James being 39 and makes errors, its still depressing to see Celtic being linked with premier league players as James, Bullard, Campbell etc.
-
I was surprised to read somewhere that Thomson wanted to leave. As for Boyds Salary if he was playing well he would be in the team and getting 22k a week, id imagine he would probably have got a scoring bonus aswell. Well Im glad he has moved on. The club cant afford that kind of money for better players than Boyd yet he was offered it. Obviously money spoke louder than his boyhood club. Boro wont be paying him much more than 22k a week in the Championship, id imagine it will increase if they get promoted. That move will come back and bite Boyd and Im one who is confident I'll be saying he is being shown up in the Championship and wont get near 20 goals. Id have given Novo a 2 year deal on 15k a week miles ahead of Boyd on 22k a week.

Yip Beasley and Smith barely kicked a ball for us. So whilst 6 have gone out the door if we do manage to this 3 players we are looking for it will be like maybe only losing 1 or 2. Its the midfield that worries me the most. Any squad needs at least 6 midfielders which includes wide men, at the moment we have 3 regulars and possibly Fleck who is also a striker. If we add 1 wide man and another good centre midfielder then the team will look stronger.

I think your underestimating Weir's personality and to help Wilson on during games. I dont think the likes of Skrtel or Agger will care about Wilson so much and Carragher is likely to just gob off at him if he makes an error. For centre half we have Bougherra, Weir, Webster, Broadfoot and even Papac. Plus McCulloch (who I hope never plays there again. If we sign Gonvales then he is another.

Good read and good answers from Bain who has improved a lot in the last year. Id really like to see the list (if any) of potential targets WS has at the moment. Id imagine Eagles would have been top of the list so I cant see anyone better than him. I still dont know why we dont look at eastern europe, the likes of the Croatians, Russians, Ukrainians, Bulgarians, Greeks are all technically sound and a lot of them wont be on high wages.

Lafferty and McCulloch at the back would be quite amusing! But we need to get a few players in soon even if it is loans. We have let 5 or 6 of the first squad go and got a 4 million from Thomson and Wilson sales. I dont know what the combined wages of Boyd, Thomson, Beasley, Novo and Wilson would have been but surely half of it could be used for a signing.
-
I think selling Wilson for 2 million with potential to rise to 5 million is great business. 1) He only had maybe 10 good games for Rangers. 2) He wants to leave. 3) We are well covered at centre half. Lets see how good he is without Weir next to him! The only downside is the squad is down 1 more number.
-
Yip but i cant buy it. We are prepared to offer an unproven Eagles much more than Novo yet id have Novo in my team everyday of the week. I cant blame novo for wanting a 2 year deal, not much players sign 1 year deals nowadays. Aslo and if he got a good deal elsewhere so be it. he gave 6 good years service. I guess a few are gutted Boyd moved on, Im a bit gutted and utterly shocked Novo wasnt given a deal The guy is a big game player.
-
I cant see how the length of Novo's contract couldnt have been negotiated. Nacho was club before anything else and would have probably accepted 1 with the option of a 2nd. Looking at the players who left he is the one who is standing out as a loss for me. If we had him starting on the right next season it would make a mass difference to the look of the team. Id say we need 2 first teamers in ASAP.
-
Hartley on a Aberdeen shirt...Oooomffff plenty abuse But I cant see them affording him either, there is no way they will get Hendrie. Chairman Stewart Milne is minted but he puts zero into that club.
-
Harewood was decent 4 or 5 years ago. I remember watching him a lot for West Ham when he played upfront with Sheringham and they did well. He is a work horse but not a goal scorer. He is similar to Heskey. Id have Miller and Lafferty ahead of him though.
-
Was good for Villa about 10 years ago. Cant see Aberdeen being able to afford him.
-
I think thats a cracking signing for Liverpool. They only had 2 match winners in Gerrard and Torres, Cole is a class player and improves them. Benyoun was a decent player but 2 years old than Cole, so to sell him for 6 million and get Cole on a free can justify the wages.
-
I suppose it still depends if there will be further outgoings as to which positions need filled the most. Its went a bit quiet on Bougherra's future and touch wood I hope it remains that way. I still think a winger is priority, thats the one position where we dont have a natural player. Looking at the majority of the squad as it is at the moment: Keepers are fine - McGregor and Alexander. In the finanical mess we are in I dont think we can ask for better than that. Centre halfs: Weir - Signed on for another year and his calmness and composure will play a huge part. I also think Weir had a huge part to play in Wilson's success last season. Bougherra - Key man and fingers crossed he stays. As Ive mentioned he could even play midfield. Webster - Had a good season as Dundee utd, been a fiarly good player everywhere he has been except Ibrox. This could be his season. Broadfoot - Decent move to keep him on as he can fill in well at RB if needed. Just needs to learn how to take throw-ins. Wilson - Will be interesting to see if he can continue last seasons good form. Full Backs: This is an area we are low in. Whittaker - I actually prefer him at LB but would have Papac ahead of him. He can play either side which is key. There is a chance we could see him as a wide midfielder with Papac and Broadfoot making up the full back roles. Papac - Consistant performer who always does a good job. Midfielders: Davis - Key man! Edu - He should get his chance and he has the ability to be a good box to box player. McCulloch - One of WS's favourites. He wasnt too bad last season in midfield, he can also play in the left and upfront. Just dont want to see him in defence again. Fleck - Big season for Fleck. Would like to see him given a free role. Strikers: Miller - Key man for me. Work rate is brilliant, attitiude is brilliant and he got about 17 goals last season. If he was a better finisher he would be superb. Lafferty - Should be played through the middle. Big season for Kyle and needs to mature a bit, if he does i still think we have a player! Naismith - I dont rate Naismith especially on the wings. He gets about but doesnt have an end product. Could be an ok squad player. Velicka - Has a good scoring record but has a lot to prove. Missed out 1 or 2, especially the young ones who may feature but I dont know enough about them.
-
Im all for the best players playing for Scotland regardless which club they come from and McGregor is one of the best available. There isnt much between Gordon and McGregor, they are slightly different in styles where McGregor seems to have more of a pressence but Gordon is better at handling but they are both great shot stoppers. He is likely to get booed buy the ignorant groups of so called fans but he can blank them out and concentrate on doing well for his country. Gordon seems to be permanetly injured in the last few years though, shame as he hasnt shown Sunderland his best yet.
-
Harper is a good keeper, been very loyal to Newcastle aswell after sitting behind Given for years. Could all change if they signed McGregor though.

Celtic v Tottenham would be a cracking game!! Would be great if Robbie Keane or Craig Bellamy (rumoured to be on his way to Spurs) netted the winner for Spurs. Yet Ive a disklike for both teams and if Celtic played them it would be a win win situation. If Celtic win the SPL would get 1 over the EPL but if they lose there is more TV cash for us. But Im way ahead of myself, they have to get past Braga first.
-
1st leg in Portugal mate. Hopefully the Braga get a nice goal or 2 lead. If Celtic get past Braga arent they going to be unseeded meaning they have to play the likes of Arsenal???
