Ive said the same when he plays full back.

Anyway BBC report said Thomson had a good game. Boyd's name wasnt mentioned. My own personal opinion is Boyd wont be such a hit nor score nearly as many goals. As will the others in general. Mcmanus, Flood, Robson, Miller and Boyd were average SPL players so to build a team around that wont be good enough for promotion IMO.

I was taking a lot of convincing about that one but I saw a different player against Blackburn 2 weeks ago. Maybe it was as much to do with the system in that game as I cant see him as a natural winger.
-
In our situation we arent getting any better. Maybe we will just pick up a couple of strikers from St Mirren and go back in for Lee Miller and that would be a dream?
-
So Naismith left and whittaker right? I knew Whittaker would be used in midfield, not a fan of him there at all.

Never logged onto FF. I'll wait to see how they do and will be asking my Boro mate how they are doing. Ipswich at home today for them, Strachan v Keane....2 ex Celts although I have no problem with Strachan at all, probably the most likeable Celtic manager

Jelavic and Gudjohnsen upfront....Thats stuff only dreams are made of at the moment. I like the look of Jelavic and Gudjohnsen was absolute class at Chelsea. We must be relying on Naismith and Lafferty to play wide if its pure strikers we are after. (Welcome and the 2 South Africans)

Yeah too expensive for a friendly, If they sell out the ground then it will be a good money maker.

Ive always said that the ugly SPL football we witness is more to do with the style of play our opponents have got. Its very difficult to play against teams who have 6 or 7 behind the ball and just punt it away. I'd even throw in the state of the pitches, the cold winters and the collapse of Scottish Football in general as to why it can be so dire to watch. Sure WS and others have had some totally bizarre selections at times also but we arent the only ones who have came out with this 'no lose first' mentality rather than 'lets go win'. One of the best matches last season was the last game of the season between Falkirk and Kilmarnock, both teams went right at each other and there was chances galore. If teams could take this approach all season our game would be easier on the eye. This is where Dundee utd and Hibs do deserve a bit of credit in the last season or 2.

Anyone going along to this today? If so how much were the tickets out of interest? Id imagine newcastle will bring up a big crowd. Wont be difficult too guess the team considering we only have 13 players.
-
This is getting scary, we wont have a subs bench next week. Not giving Novo a 2 year deal was ridiculous IMO.
-
He'd definatly improve them, he would cause a lot of problems in the SPL IMO.
-
Would really like to see Jelavic signed up. The squad would look a lot healthier with his name and a midfielder / winger included. If it must be a loan deal for another player or 2 then Im not too bothered, only wish we would hurry up and add to the squad.
-
Motherwell v Man City would be good to see as would Dundee Utd v Juventus. Would like to see motherwell and Dundee Utd progress into the group stages though. As for Celtic, a wee trip to Turkey would be a tough one for them.

What happened to Stevie Lennon BTW???
-
Thats practically a starting line up!

I can see why players come back late sometimes and think its gets blown out of proportion. Ive had many a international flight and cant be bothered or been too tired to go to whatever the next day but doesnt mean Im not committed.
-
Consider it done. A wee sticky required next week though. Put your names if you wish to do previews here..... August SPL: Kilmarnock (H) Hibs (A) St Johnstone (H)

Any objection to me running this again like 05-08?? 6 quid an hour will do for my services! I will keep the schedule going and nip in with any last minute bail outs.

Cant see a problem him playing for his country. We have 7 in the Scotland squad. Hopefully he gets a decent run out and returns injury free to get a bit of fitness under his belt. He was Algerias best player at the WC so its normal he is called up.

If we really want this guy it should have been tied up asap and even paid a bit more for him. If he signs a 4 or 5 year deal and leaves in 2 years for 5 million Id take that. We should be looking at short term success at the moment and earning on transfer fees along with having good enough players to get us into the CL every year by winning the SPL. Everton have always been careful with fees and wages but we cant compete with them.

I get a good feeling about Jelavic. With Welcome he may be looking to use the SPL as a stepping stone but if he can come and blast 25 goals along with assists then so be it. It seems we are going to be in the same position as a few years ago when we had about 9 strikers. I cant see Velicka moving on unless its another loan back to the likes of Bristol City. Even if lafferty and Naismith are used wide we are still low in the centre of midfield. Where is Bert Konterman when you need him!!!
