Kenny Miller - Another mercenary or underpaid and undervalued?
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
There seems to be a bit of a trend starting with players and contracts (Novo, Boyd, perhaps Thomson?...now Miller) - thats obviously down to our financial situation and it wouldnt be nice to finally see a player take what is offered (affordable to the club) rather than attempt to better themselves but fail. Obviously each players situation has been different, like Novo wanted to stay but couldnt agree the right deal. However I can see the players point of few in Miller's case. He is looking for a last decent contract before his playing days are up yet he has been asked to take a pay CUT and not earning what "Beattie who hasnt kicked a ball" is on. Surely if there was a bit of honesty in this then the extra money could come in the effect of performance, appearance and goals bonuses that way he will be giving all during his contract. There is also a trend with players playing well when a contract is due - Ricksen, Lovenkrands, Boyd last Dec...but Miller has been playing well all season and last, so I dont think he is purely playing for a deal. We have to take into consideration that players these days done see it through the eyes of the average man on the street. They are living in a different league when it comes to pound signs and their lifestyles are based around this. On the same note everyone who posts on here is looked upon as super rich to people in 3rd world countries yet we dont bat an eyelid and just complain we could all be done with an extra 50, 100, 500 quid a month - which would feed a family of 10 in some countries yet maybe only pay a phone bill for some of us - this is just the world we live in. Im a fan of Miller. He risked a lot rejoining us and no matter what some fans think of him for once playing for Celtic (albeit thats the fans problem) he has gave it all and has been a very important member of the team in the last 2 season. I hope he signs up for the last 3 years of his playing career.- 27 replies

Seemed to be a regular to start with under MON and was playing very well at centre half and RB. Now he doesnt play, its a bizarre one.

That main stand has had its last days anyway.

A lot will depend on the line up for me. If its a more attacking look then we can win it by a goal. If its defensive then a 1-1 draw.

Is Ally McCoist the answer? Should new owner's bring in their own man?
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
Im not a fan of managers making it public knowledge they are leaving at the end of the season nor knowing who is coming into replace them. That was 1 of the reasons we didnt get 10IAR. We've only seen McCoist briefly in cup matches but he has always had WS over his shoulder or up in the stands to get advice if needed. Hopefully thats the learning period over. But over a season the dury is out whether it will be a good appointment. As much as I love Ally as a legend, If a more experienced and more attractive name was linked then I wouldnt say no to someone else coming in next.- 21 replies

Poor decision but its been on the cards all season. At least Hughton can leave with his head held high and done a great job there. He is probably 1 or 2 players away from having a decent squad again and would have finished mid table. Cant believe Pardew is favourite. Other names being pundited about are Jol, Martin O Neill, Curbishley and Shearer's return.

Mention that beattie will start upfront in place of Miller. Personally Id rather see us go with 2 strikers. Its a match that we dont have to play so defensive so should have a go at them. Would be good to see something different like Beattie and Fleck upfront.

He's only realising it because Boro have been rank. Had they been in a play off position and challenging for promotion you can bet your bottom dollar he wouldnt be thinking about a move back.
-
Hitman?? Slight exaggeration there. Absolutely no thanks.
-
You could throw Lou Macari into that list. He had a stinking time at Celtic also. Tony Mowbray cant be on the list, he is a legend

I think FIFA are corrupt at the top. My guess is Qatar have bought the 2022 WC. It will be 50oC in the summer there, crazy heat and crazy to have a WC in a tiny place. I thought the other 4 were all much better shouts. I was hoping England got the 2018 one as Euro 96 was a cracking tournament and felt they could better it. But Russia was a banker and fair decision as they havent held a tournament before.

not only is it good to have a 2 week break to let those injured get fitness back but those who have played every game will be recharging their batteries. That is huge for the likes of Weir, Davis, McCulloch and Miller.
-
I thought they would keep him as they couldnt afford to sack him but I suppose relegation would have cost them more. Pity. Beeb says Calderwood may return which is surprising. Others linked are Butcher, John Hughes, Strachan and Gus McPherson.
-
And Im looking forward to a wee trip to Wembley in February
-
Id take him, would be good to get more attacking midfielders. Although cant see any lightin the story at all unless he has had a fall out. West Ham were sniffing about him in the summer and West brom knocked back 4 million and 7 million bids for him.

What a win for the Hammers. Had a feeling before the Stoke match West Ham could get to Wembley this season but when we drew Man U I thought that might be it given how bad Avram Grant has been but 4-0 which is Man Utd's first defeat in about 30 games is awesome, plus they had a have decent team out. Arsenal are favourites by a mile. I think Birmingham will beat Villa tonight and West brom to beat Ipswich in the other match. So then it will be the luck of the draw who avoids Arsenal.

Holy shit, first glance of that and I thought it was a Gersnetter father and son. Weiss looks not a day older than 14. Yet Captin Kirk looks about 45

,Easily a 12 million pound player. Alan Hutton was raved about as being the most improved Ranger but McGregor is in with a shout about that. When he returned from Dunfermline loan I wasnt happy about him being out No.1, now he is up there with the best in the UK. Goram was a stand out in his time - probably the best in Europe at times, so for McGregor to be top 5 in UK is following Gorams way. Id be disappointed if McGregor went to a smaller club than Arsenal or Man Utd.

Rangers 0 - 1 Manchester Utd - Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Ive probably never read so much nonsense in my life. Boyd makes Miller look like Messi??? Dont want him near Ibrox?? - This after his 18 goals this season?? How much have you been smoking? I used to get shot down for a "dislike" against Boyd which was thought to be personal. It couldnt be further from the truth as it was pure a footballing reason. To me it sounds like your stuck in the 80s and bitter Miller played for Celtic for your dislike to him. Miller is easily proven a better all round player than Boyd at all levels. WS tactics are to blame for him being isolated. Do you expect Naismith's header to be pinpointed to Millers exact location???? -
Why isnt promoting youngers or lower league Refs an option? Surely there is Refs who Ref Highland league and Junior games. The rules cant be that different
-
Portugese and israeli officials still due to come though. Chance of some matches to go ahead but no games confirmed.
-
It doesnt bother me too much at all as long as they Ref the game properly. The only problem I foresee is if there was different rules from our game to the leagues they ref which is unlikely in top flight football. It does make a mockery of the SFA running the game but they have been doing a good job that themselves for years and years. But I suppose the games going ahead are the main thing as fans have been counted as No.1 here (or so they say). If I had a ticket for Tannadice this Sunday at it was my first game coming from overseas in years id be pissed off if it was cancelled with no effort. I dont think it takes Scottish independance out of the game, the day the 3 foreigner rule was scrapped ended that. It used to be a foreigner playing in the league was an interesting thing and original. As long as its a one off thing and doesnt go Global then there is no harm, the last thing we want is globalisation in football with games being played abroad etc like the EPL are trying. Although the Atlantic League was something I was always open to due to the gap between the OF and the rest of the SPL.

Probably why the Swedish and Norweigan Ref's said no thanks....they werent coming over to stay in a caravan and make peanuts.

Davie Weir for me -
Yip. He'd have been in my team ahead of Whittaker for the last 6 weeks.
