The Gundogan penalty was one of the strangest techniques Ive ever seen. City have missed 8 pens in around a season and a half, that has to be addressed as it cost them at Anfield before when Mahrez ballooned one over the bar when going for a win. However they have shown there is a gap with them and the rest again, Liverpool without Van Dijk are nothing to fear yet the decision to stick with two central midfielders in defence is terrible. City will go for Haaland or Kane.

Rangers FC 'The Journey' - Division 3 To Premier League
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
The goosebumps kicked in as early as Lee Wallace. I think its fitting our first trophy back is the 55th league title and I always had a feeling it would be. The League Cup this season looked easy in the Quarters but the reaction since the St Mirren game has shown the difference in the animal this season. The criminal shame is the likelihood of an empty Ibrox. But Im sure the club will still have something special planned to view and roll out everyone who has contributed back through the last 10 years or so. Whilst credit will rightly go to Gerrard and his team for this rampant season there has been lots of unsung hero's on this journey. -
VAR - I really need to understand the rules on the Soucek one. Nobody in football is saying it was a red but I have to wonder even if there was no intent are the rules still there that he made contact with elbow and had to go? However its a shocker from Mike Dean and VAR, no wonder Southampton dont want to see them again - if its a red then why do they need 4 minutes to review it. 0-0 was fair in the game, both sides created a lot of half chances but nothing really looked like going in. Good result for Newcastle to hold on with 9 men. Man Utd out of the title race should Man City win today.

Off to a good start again this weekend with predictions with the Villa winning. Im still not convinced with Arsenal and Arteta. They were poor first half and continuously played it backwards. They came out in the second half with more drive and were pressing but Arteta got his subs wrong and they never looked like scoring. They have zero final product in the final third and Aubameyang is a fraction of the player from last season. Saka is their bright spark going forward, Pepe is never a 72m player. Gabriel was very good at the back but the rest were average. Fair play to Villa.

Its getting sensational. This season alone is a stunning record and almost going under the radar on a few levels. But its been coming, from day 1 you could see what he was building, its all about holding it together for a few years now. In Europe to go from losing in Luxembourg to now being disappointed with drawing with Benfica is a statement. This is a Benfica team who are Champions League Material and Arsenal werent pleased with drawing them next. Only Leverkusen have been a level above and they are a very good team.

Jose under the pressure now, 3 defeats in a row and he is getting it wrong. Im not surprised - he brought in a feel good factor to start with but its went very stale. But they couldnt have a picked a better pick me up fixture this weekend. Tough set of fixtures this weekend to predict. Aston Villa 2-1 Arsenal Burnley 0-0 Brighton Newcastle 1-1 Southampton Fulham 1-2 West Ham Man Utd 2-2 Everton Tottenham 2-0 West Brom Wolves 2-3 Leicester Liverpool 1-2 Man City Sheff Utd 0-2 Chelsea Leeds 2-1 Crystal Palace

Jury is out for Arsenal for me, Im not convinced by them. Their transfer policy has been awful for years and now they are resorting to giving players away. Mustafi 32 Million and getting rid early is just one example. Arteta is decent but like Lampard its a job too early for him. They cant be losing 9 games in the league so far, they have actually went backwards. Although perhaps he is just clearing out the deadwood first and they may improve, but a club like Arsenal should have higher ambitions - Allegri would have been perfect for them. A lot comes down to the owner though, he seems to busy funding his NFL side.

Rangers 3-0 St Johnstone Kamara FGS (He's due one) -
9-0 to Man Utd. Surely a guy who has lost 9-0 twice cant remain in a job. I didnt do tonights games yet. Burnley 0-2 Man City Fulham 1-3 Leicester Leeds 2-1 Everton (Bit of a classic game with two former big sides.) Aston Villa 1-2 West Ham Liverpool 4-0 Brighton Tottenham 1-2 Chelsea
-
Thanks for that - made my day
-
Just in time for tonights games. Sheff Utd 2-0 West Brom Wolves 1-0 Arsenal Man Utd 0-1 Southampton Newcastle 2-2 Crystal Palace
-
? Like I said commissions please.
-
And so far Im on the ball. Draw at the Hawthorns and still 0-0 at the Emirates. I should be claiming commissions from you guys ?
-
A few interesting score comparisons with 3 differing views (obviously my prediction against the oldies is more reliable ? ? ) West Brom v Fulham: Scott - Away win. Me - Draw. Compo - Home win. Arsenal v Man Utd: Scott - Home win. Me - Draw. Compo - Utd away win. And the most difficult which I did switch. Southampton v Aston Villa: Scott - Draw Me - Home win for the Saints Compo - Away win.

Aurier apparently stormed out and went home at half time. Is this the collapse of Mourinho again? They were flying 6 weeks ago after beating Man City. The Bale signing has been poor, he may have sat out at Madrid too long and played too much golf. You have to wonder if he is one of these players who was so physical his body may not stand playing into mid 30s. To not play much for a year then come to the pace of the Premier is a big ask.

I didnt realise Balogun was that age. Considering Simpson is 24 it seems like its one for the long term. I am a Katic fan, the lengthy spell out will mean he is maybe off the pace for a while - which you have mentioned - but I do hope he gets back to the level of performance he is capable of. The defence has almost been flawless this season so to be strengthening it is interesting to see what develops but its good to see the club thinking ahead with the aim no doubt being Champions League Group Stages. Tavernier top goalscorer / Goldson immense and a leader and contributing with goals / Barasic best crosser in the league / McGregor as awesome as ever / 7 league goals conceded is ridiculous. -
Jose got things wrong and is always playing 'not to lose' these big games. Spurs should be pressing. Weekend. Everton 2-0 Newcastle Crystal Palace 1-2 Wolves Man City 4-0 Sheff Utd West Brom 0-0 Fulham Arsenal 1-1 Man Utd Southampton 2-1 Aston Villa Chelsea 1-0 Burnley Leicester 3-1 Leeds West Ham 0-2 Liverpool Brighton 1-0 Tottenham

Im taking that 1-0 tight win all day long. 7 points out of 9 from three away games in January will do. RE Tanner / Welsh - appalling. Imagine that on the other foot! They are trying to be funny and appease their fans which hopefully will backfire with the club reporting it. Hibs have a horrible support and are right up there with my most disliked team and set of fans at the moment. It makes that win last night more sweet but pity there wasnt a full house in the ground. PS - Anyone know why we dont have a game this weekend? -
Battle of the clarets was game of the night. Great win for Burnley who are on the way up. Man Utd brought back down to earth but nobody would have seen that defeat coming. City could pull away from the pack now. Over to Spurs v Liverpool Thurs night - winners go 4th.

Chelsea sack Lampard and appoint Tuchel

Couldnt agree more. I was thinking this morning while out jogging about how Gerrard is succeeding - Because he is bringing what he had as a player to the team: Passion, Drive, Determination, enthusiasm, winning mentality, high standards - whilst he is also maturing very well. And he is learning mistakes i.e. when winning at Parkhead Dec 2019 he let off steam to the cameras (nothing wrong with that) but then from January onwards something went wrong - yet this season its been head down and onto the next game. -

The third of 3 tricky away ties in January. Win this one and I think the light at the end of the tunnel begins to brighten. Hibs always raise their game at home against us so this could be tough so even a scrappy win would do. -
Moyes has West Ham flying at the moment. Soucek has been an absolute steal and young Bowen and Benrahma from Norwich and Brentford respectively have taken the league like ducks to water. Im not sure why Moyes is in for Lingard, he would need to get his form back from 3-4 years ago before getting in the XI. 1 key reason why West Ham are playing better is dropping Noble to the bench - he has been massive for the club but his style on the ball was slowing things down and keeping a No.10 out the team. I had 1-2 win on predictions but 2-3 will do yet it should have been about 1-6. Antonio could have had 4. More problems for Newcastle and Steve Bruce, that is a club on the ice slide and depending on Fulhams results will see Newcastle right in the relegation fight. Good win for Arsenal. Southampton started better and barring a few misplaced passes in the final third early on could have been well in front. But Saka is some talent and then ran the show.

No wonder the previous president said it would have been good business to sanction the 500-600m sale of Messi!

Thats exactly what I said - Wouldnt scare me at all. Yet the reaction seems to be its a non-starter. The bookies have him in as third favourite after Rafa and Howe. TBH It might be unlikely but I dont think its unrealistic as Frank will have to drop down a level to gain more experience plus he will have looked at what Gerrard is doing. And the possibility of Champions League if second place in the league qualifies (Im not sure if thats confirmed with the co-efficient) I never mentioned Gilmour going to Celtic - that was ASIL.
