Walter won't let us down on Sunday - he knows what's required
Gribz replied to maineflyer's topic in Rangers Chat
As its match day I have to get a bit excited for it. I am confident if WS somehow fields an attacking line up then we will win the cup. If he sticks with the same gash and relies on Edu and Whittaker in midfield then we will get out played in midfield and get beat. -
Lehmann should be starting from now on. Almunia at it again and at fault for 2nd West brom goal...ridiculously coming out of his area. He is capable of costing Arsenal the title, his last league game was the 3-2 West Brom game at Emirates.

I actually thought Gisabeer was continuing the joke saying Mainflyers 6 at the back was adventureous because it will be 7...but he didnt read the post -
Yip thats what Ive said. He played well with Ness and McCulloch in his first games but since it has been Edu and Whittaker he hasnt managed to do anything when in possession.

Broadfoot, Shinnie, Ness and Kind Bendiksen all back in training
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Looking forward to Captain Kirk being back! Never thought Id say that but he is an option at RB and centre half. Ness is another welcome boost to get right back in the centre mid. Dont know much about Shinnie or Bendkisen. -
Im not sure if he is sending a message to all the players but if I was Ness or Hutton Id be wondering why Edu and Whittaker were ahead in the pecking order when the former 2 have done better. Some are making the excuse for WS to set up defensively as PSV are tactially better than us...but to set up 5-4-1 against Celtic plus sit back when leading them with an extra man says more about WS tactics than his thoughts on the players. We should never fear Celtic.

Chelsea or Man U will get to the final so an english team at Wembley IMO. I fancy Spurs to beat Madrid, dream tie for them!! But Barca will beat them in the Semi's. Real Madrid v Spurs....Spurs for me Chelsea v Man Utd....Chelsea Barca v Shaktar.....Barca Inter v Schalke.....Schalke (just sacked their manager though) Semis: Chelsea v Schalke.....Chelsea Barca v Spurs....Barca Final: Barca to beat Chelsea.

Dont mean to be picky but Id say Healy was brought in for Miller yet hasnt kicked a ball and Diouf was more of a signing thought to boost confidence. As you say he seems to wonder all over the place but the buck stops with WS there and Diouf should be playing where he is told. Seems he has came in and tried to impress with the first few games but now does what he wants. Temperment can be controlled even if provoked and the best way to shut people up is by talking your talking with the ball rather than back chatting which gets you nowhere. Naismith falls into the same boat here, he needs to zip it as he is constantly mouthing at refs and is risking silly bookings.
-
To be fair he has been better than Beattie and he did come in an replace the latter. He still has a bit of quality but Im going ot give him the benefit of the doubt that he is went off form due to being in the same team as players like Edu and Whittaker. His temperment is still a concern though.

Yup easily Wylde.

Its a difficult question but overseas you certainly see more Celtic fans (or shirts - because you can buy them and cant buy Rangers) in the street however when you get talking to people / expats there isnt much in it at all, but from the amount of people Ive spoken to / know Rangers probably edge it, but then Im more likely to talk to fellow Bears.

The fact its an OF final swings Sunday to be a bigger game yet if we were playing Inverness in the final the PSV match would probably have been the bigger.

Lifted from ££ , but agree with just about all of it
Gribz replied to rbr's topic in Rangers Chat
I'll get round to the rest of your post bit later, I agree with bits of it. But the problem wasnt the 5-3-2 as such, it was having the likes of Craig Moore in midfield....a player proven to be played out of position. When Advocaat signed Moore back I couldnt believe it but he went onto be a cracking centre half, a position where WS never played him. So having players out of position back then was part of the problem back then. IIRC Laudrup was always used as a striker in Europe, he was more than capable of playing there, but he was damaging teams in a free role / wing position week in week out so should have played there in Europe also. -
Frankie, the 2 occassions Ive seen Foster I actually thought he looks assured going forward. His solo against PSV last week was impressive and his final ball was a good one which is the difference between him and Whittaker. Whittaker would have kept going and tried to skin the corner flag and a steward before thinking about a pass. The lad deserves a run at RB in the next few games and considering he replaced Velicka its 1 man up in the squad numbers.

Frankie and Gisabeer probably have the right opinion in this debate, its more to do with the selection and formations which have caused some poor results in matches where we should have done better. When we play the bigger sides ive no problem with a 4-5-1 approach but would prefer to see more attack minded line up in such games as tonights. I cant agree that the good results like draws with Barca and Man U balances the Kaunas, IFK, AEK Athens games. I think WS has learned big lessons from the 90s due to some bad defeats where we were poorly beating by the like of Athens but all expected an easy victory with the class of Laudrup and Co in the team. This was only 1-2 years after our run to the semi's in 1993 so to expect such run wasnt a bad unimaginable. WS just doesnt want to see anymore thumpings which were regular in the 90s, I can see his thinking, but at the same time we arent playing a top Juventus or Ajax side anymore.....PSV tonight arent a league above us so we should be going for it a bit more in these games. -
I wouldnt say Bear at heart (perhaps yet). Its more of a statement to wind people up and be noticed. If he had signed for Celtic you can bet the stripes on the car would be green. But fair play as others have said, he doesnt feel imtimidated and thats a good thing. Going by the picture its a new garden fence he needs before a car!

Rangers 1-0 PSV - Diouf

I meant he was out on loan recently.

his fuck ups are more to do with him being a bit mental rather than his keeping ability unlike almunia.

Jens Lehmann returns until the end of the season!!! Didnt think Wenger would go for a veteran but it isnt a bad one if he is fit. He was the keeper during the invincibles and may be the bit of leadership they need for the title. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/12735013.stm

Certainly a chunk of the section behind the goal of the traditional Rangers end should be bouncing for 90 mins. Its just a shame Hampden doesnt hold another 20000 these days to give it a real atmosphere.
-
I think Wenger would still put Bartley out on loan even if he is in his plans. He wont walk straight into the first team as there is 4 centre halfs ahead of him and wenger likes his promising players to be playing. Even Wiltshire was on loan as recent as last year and Ramsay and Vela are out on loan. Wenger will probably also see Rangers as a better place for Bartley to develop and not have to worry about puting him on loan to another EPL club to gain high experience. But as much as the CL would be good for Bartley if Wenger got desperate and needed to recall him in an injury crisis then he would be cup tied...but thats unlucky.

Accomodating players is something that has stretched back to McLeish's days but its getting beyond a joke now. The worst thing to come of it is the players who are ready to step in must be wondering if they are good enough. Likes of Hutton and Ness must be wondering what is going on when they come in and play well only to be dropped after 2 games. Then there is Kerkar who was signed and hasnt kicked a ball yet Lafferty (who cant play left ever) and Whittaker are preferred to be a winger. Id have no problem moving Bartley or Bougherra into midfield but would prefer them to be the centre back pairing. Bougherra has been an option for midfield for a while with his strong runs.
-
Id have Broadfoot in there ahead of Whittaker also but the sad thing is once Broadfoot comes back Whittaker becomes a permanent midfielder which is worse!

We have a winner. Well done that man.
