Are we at St Johnstone next week or is it the Chelsea friendly.
-
Im worried about the defence. Even if we do sign 2 centre halfs there is no guarantee they are going to work out. Id have confidence in Cuellar as he is proven. But its not just as centre half, Whittaker was awful on Saturday yet AM saw him as a key player. Id much have rather kept Richard Foster for RB. Every good performance by Broadfoot has always been at RB so he'd be my first pick there. Papac did well on saturday and Wallace should be good cover for him. In midfield I think we are ok in numbers if Ness and Hutton improve. Davis is the main man there and as I mentioned I would play Bougherra next to him as the holding player. Edu and McCulloch are concerning. Id say McCulloch would be more effective as a sub, he'd be reliable to come on and tightnen things up. So to answer the question its more about WHO we really need rather than WHERE we need. In a nutshell Cuellar, Bartley, Weiss and Miller are what is REALLY needed. If they signed today Id be extremely happy. But as it stands I cant see us getting any of those 4 now and we are probably going for the unknowns. I dont want us to end up with a huge squad of players who cant be effective. Ortiz, Kerker and Bedoya have all been signed up yet id have Naismith and Wylde as my wide men.

Haha my gosh the SPL are away with it!. Doncaster probably knocked this up himself.
-
Ortiz got on the ball a bit especially first half but as mentioned McGowan had him. Bit too early to judge him, he might need a few games to get used to SPL. He looks technically decent, id consider playing him a more free role rather than stuck out on the wing. Wylde should be first pick LM anyway.

As good as the rest of your post is the bit in bold deserves "post of the week" allocade. I said the same in the match thread: Davis, Edu and McCulloch are 3 central midfielders so how does that fit into a 4-4-2? Davis is by far our best player so he is a cert, then its 1 more in with him. Ally seemed to be copying WS yesterday rather than trying his own game. Agree with the high ball...I was well pissed off with this. Get the ball on the deck and play to pace - thats our advantage!

Ally hasnt freshened anything up and is playing these 'auto starters' for to accommodate them as what has happened in the past. Edu, McCulloch and Davis are 3 central midfielders so in a 4-4-2 that doesnt work. Davis is our best player (by far MOTM today) so should be centre, that means 1 from the other 2 miss out. Then put Wylde and Ortiz wide. Ortiz will be ruined before he starts if he is a right sided player. but Naismith in the 2nd half proved he should be first pick at RM. Next to Davis in the centre should be Hutton or Ness or bougherra if we get 2 new defenders. McCulloch was off the pace today and wont get much better this season. Edu is going to be 6 shite games 1 good game. Quite a bit of home work to be done for Ally tonight. I felt we missed Lafferty today. -

Wylde is quicker than McGowan, if have had him on from the start anyway. He is looking same as where he left of last season. -

20k a week Whittaker! Cant even hit a ball! Davis did great work on the right and lays it to him for the cross and he fluffs it. He is fast becoming our worst full back and that includes Gary Bollan. -

Gone flat since the equaliser. Naismith proving he is a RM though. Much better there because he can run with it. Started the first 10 mins of 2nd half well and had a real go, it was chance after chance. We should be having a go more. -

1-1 Naismith..... Well done Papac on left, got a 2nd chance at cross and knocked it on the head of Naismith who glided it in. Come on..... -

Much better start. Broadfoot had a weak header. Davis shot brilliantly saved from keeper. Great move, Ortiz on left with thru ball, great dummy by Jelavic and Naismith ballooned the shot. ortiz good cross, Naismith heads over. -

He's addressed the lack of RM in the first half and moved Naismith to the right. Think that means 4-5-1 / 4-3-3 -

No probs Pete. We started with majority of possession. Jelavic looked sharp with few half chances. Ortiz got on the ball a bit early on in the left wing but McGowan has marked him well to be fair. Bougherra has had couple of good runs from the back, if we get 2 centre halfs id be playing him midfield with Davis. Davis has been our best player, he has been everywhere. Edu and McCulloch are letting him down. Broadfoot and Whittaker shouldnt be on the pitch. Both awful. Yet if they swap positions I bet it woudl improve. -

Horror show going on in defence. Davis is covering the middle and RB. Seems we signed the wrong player from Hearts. McGowan at RB looks good and much better than Whittaker. Templeton impressive again. -

Poor defending Whittaker. Still gobsmacked as to why McCoist thought he was an important player. -

Sound system sounds better on the TV. Jelavic looking trimmer and fitter than last season, can only be good. That clown Webster playing for them, 4 years at Rangers and 3 games. Ian Cocker...fux sake -

Beers in fridge, will give them an hour to cool then have an early start. Live on Goal TV at 7:30pm for overseas viewers who have this channel. Will have a flutter on 2-1 Gers. -
Nothing on Cuellar yet? Thats 2-3 days he has been mulling over it. Perhaps he has agreed and wants to wait until match day tomorrow to give the fans an extra lift before the game....and is one of the Signings Gav got told about?? (optimistic loyal)
