  1. Not quite IMO. Jelavic proved it over a season last year that he is a class act. Naismith started last season very well but faded a bit. He has got off to a flyer this season but its only been about 8 weeks. He needs to give a full season of this form before he is double figures. He is probably the 4th highest valued player in the team. McGregor, Jelavic and Davis range between 8m - 14m (Mcgregor is worth 14m). If Naismith plays a full season on current form (he will have the odd bad / quiet game) then he can be put in that bracket. Its no coincidence that his form has taken off since he has played in a right mid or attacking mid role. Ive never seen him as a striker.
  2. Cant say I hate the guy but I just never thought he was a footballer good enough for Rangers and I did dislike his attitude. The goal count is a freak but majority against terrible teams (the SPL in general are terrible and that shows when no clubs are even in the Europa Cup). I always said he would get found out as soon as he left Rangers. The good players at the club made him look better than he was and set up his tap ins. Since leaving he has proved me and others right who said he would get found out. All i can say to him is thanks for being greedy and leaving the club.
  3. Agree with Dutchy, people will be able to drink longer for weekday matches. Cant see what difference it would make. Im quite partial to a midweek OF game anyway but if its being dicated by other reasons then it just shows the control levels in UK are hitting new heights all the time. There has been an average of 4-6 OF games every season since the league started and trouble has probably dramatically reduced since the 60s, 70s and 80s yet during those times moving games wasnt mentioned, its just the establishment pushing for changes all the time now and football fans are being used. I dont think the average PC would even think to care about when the OF game is played.
  4. Id at least like to see discussions and plans for what an Atlantic league would look like. We've just came out our worst financial situation (or might still be in it) and struggle to compete with English Championship clubs for players yet after only 9 games we have more than double the point tally than teams like Hearts who in the past could at least be in sight after 9 games. The gap is unrealistic. The SPL has no future IMO as things stand, they cant even get their own plans and ideas together never mind make changes that will improve the game. I still think there has to be a case for joining the English leagues if Welsh sides are included. If that means starting in League 2 id be for that, within one season we'd be playing big clubs like Charlton, Sheff Wed and Sheff Utd which is more appealing than St Mirren, Dunfermline and Inverness.
  5. Said on the preview thread why is McCulloch being kept on and playing rather than giving a promising replacment a try. Hutton would have been perfect last night.
  6. Id be sending them the bill anyway. Surely we should have CCTV to prove they were wrecked on purpose and not substandard.
  7. Delighted I never put a coupon on. Won 300 quid on Saturday and just picked it up yesterday afternoon (feels good to actually go to bookies after years again). I was going to put the winnings on Arsenal, Blackburn, Wolves, Aberdeen and Kilmarnock. The sheep would have cost me. What a mess they are, the board are rotten. Stewart Milne is minted too but he will do an offski as soon as work starts on the new stadium and he has bought the pittodrie for a snip.
  8. I agree, came on earlier expecting a lot more posts. If we lost you can bet there would be double the pages about complaints.
  9. Not sure about the German fee but its was 6.6m for that full back Santos who didnt get a touch! I think those 2 might come good but at the moment cant adapt to the rest, Koscielny was absolutely terrible, and Song set up the first goal then was awful and cost them 2 goals.
  10. Blackburn would be lucky to get a shot on target against Man Utd, Man City and Chelsea but score 4 and counting against Arsenal...thats how far Arsenal have fallen behind. Wengers failure to sign quality is going to bite massive this season. Vermaelan and Wilshire are the only 2 to come back but Vermaelan will get injured again and I cant see Wilshire making much difference.
  11. Tempted to stick a tenner on Wenger not being in charge of Arsenals next game.
  12. Arsenal's signings were papering over the cracks. Arteta is now their best midfielder. With this team they will struggle to be top half. Teams like Stoke, Bolton, Villa, Everton, Fulham will well fancy finishing above Arsenal right now. The defence is just scary, gifting a team like Blackburn goals.
  13. One of the first commentators I can remember on the radio....always remember his voice for "oh theres a drrrrrrrrive and a goal". Yeah good commentator.
  14. Mainly explains my questions. Really havent taken much notice of this side of it as I lost interest during the takeover "will it or wont it happen" stage that dragged on for months. Its a strange one if they didnt know about it though considering the time they took to get the deal through.
  15. Probably the reason we had the bounce game in the first place...to get him more match practice for Sunday.
  16. There might be a thread or 2 kicking around explaining this but I havent really keep up to speed on the situation since the take over. What Im confused about is this tax bill which some reports say could be up to 49m. The 3 things Im confused about are: What is this bill all about? (has it built up over the years of debt??) Is the amount of 49m realistic or exaggerated? Why didnt Whytes financial team know this would still be coming AFTER a takeover? With the amount of time they took I thought they would have done their homework. Why after the takeover was the reports all saying our debts are cleared when clearly there is the chance of this mass lump sum amount which was obviously created before Whyte took over?
  17. Get a carry out Ian and start that at 7am. These early kick offs are great for us in Asia, means we can spent the day in the bars with our shorts on then get ready for the game. But I'll be watching it in UK this weekend which is nice as I'll arrive at 10am and get in just in time for K/O, the folks better have a stack of tennents in for me.
  18. It was worth a fiver at those odds. My treble came up though, had 50 quid on arsenal, Cardiff and West Ham.
  19. Wigan and Motherwell double, worth a fiver! 204/1
  20. Bedoya has played 20 mins for us and Mckay hasnt kicked a ball so until I have seen them in a blue jersey I will hold putting my team up, but it does look promising and that looks near enough the team I'd be hoping to write down. Although Wylde and Ness might sneak into my XI so Id be looking at a 4-5-1 / 4-3-3. If Bedoya and McKay live up to the promise it would be Lafferty making way as he isnt near consistant enough and only comes good in the last 7 games of a season. Id have Broadfoot in at RB ahead of Whittaker.
  21. I agree seeing Naismith, Bedoya, Davis and McKay looks promising, plus with Wylde in there also it gives a good option. But we're forgetting Ness, I feel he has a big part to play if he progresses from last season.
  22. Been dry for about 2 weeks.....perhaps I actually need a drink
  23. Its so quick the page I want comes up before i even click it Nice Job (with a US accent).
  24. Bizarre, i posted 2nd on this thread and its disappeared. Similar thoughts though, was a cracking player at Fulham but edging towards the end of his career and wouldnt want it to end up like Ljungberg at Celtic. Need to see what Bedoya and the others are like first.
  25. Good news for me especially with Hutton, I think he should be playing much more. Its ok saying sitting on the isnt doing him good but for me he would be playing well ahead of McCulloch and Edu. And with Ness injury prone, Mckay not in the team yet, Hutton will come in handy during the busy winter periods. For Fleck going out in loan would have done him good as he has went backwards in the last 2-3 seasons, so regular football to get his confidence back would have been good.
