  1. I think your underestinating the SK league. Ive watched a bit of this and the J- League and both are a very decent standard. The national team are better than Scotland for a start. The Asian version of the Champions League includes these 2 countries along with Australia so McKay obviously knows a bit about the league and will know what he is going in to. Good luck to McKay, he will probably look back at the last 6 months as going backwards in his career and lifestyle.
  2. I think he had Naismith and Jelavic to thank for that. They were the difference between winning games, playing well and a poor team. Says it all when these 2 are going to be the top 2 contenders for player of the season come May and they wont have kicked a ball in 2012.
  3. The team is crying out for freshening up and McKay would fit the bill fine. After our last 2 games against Utd and Killie Id be making changes all over the park where possible, the same set dont deserve to be picked. Id play McKay in midfield, I wouldnt have let Hutton go out on loan and had a trio of McKay, Davis and Hutton as my midfield.
  4. Not sure whats going on at Chelsea, the divide between manager and players seems to be the first issue . They are still in the Champions League hence Boas still being in a job. As for Arsenal Wenger, he needs to change his philosophy or risk Arsenal sliding away from competiting for CL spots. They are getting further away every season while Man City and Spurs are getting stronger. Man Utd are in transistion but can still compete for the title. And you'd imagine Chelsea will throw cash at it next season. He is persisting with 4-5-1 which I think is a cause for them being so slack, he should go back to 4-4-2 but needs to sign a new keeper, top centre half and unearth another Nasri. FA cup could be quite interesting this year though, if Chelsea, Liverpool, Everton and Spurs get through the quarters which they should then its wide open. 4 clubs I dont particularly like but I wouldnt deny Spurs the FA cup after the season they have had. A Liverpool v Spurs final would probably be the most entertaining.
  5. I really dont see liquidation happening and the need to start again. I wasnt surprised by administration but id be gobsmacked by liquidation. Even if it did happen id give it 3-4 years tops before we saw us back in top flight whether it be the SPL or down south if that was possible. You just have to look at Wimbledon, they were a small club who disapeared to Milton Keynes yet the 'original' Wimbledon are now in League 2 after starting up with a handful of people. Now compare Rangers and Wimbledon! With our fan base, history, ex players, ex managers, Stadium, potential and the institution that is Rangers we would be up and running again in no time. There is already plenty of interest in ownership from all over. We'd come back as big and as strong.
  6. I'll also support him. Nothing will ever take away his legendary status, he is probably a Rangers legend of legends if there is such thing. He has shown immense dignity recently. However he needs to draw up new tactic book!! In interviews this week before the game I felt he actually looked as if a massive weight had came off his shoulders, the bags under the eyes had gone a bit. I recently compared an interview with him in the summer and one last month and the difference was huge! But the other day he looked better again.
  7. Apart from not having funds to release him and pay for a replacement, Jelavic and Naismith probably kept McCoist in a job until now, their ability seemed to be the difference in winning games and since they have both been out of the team we look awful and lack any new ideas. McCoist just doesnt seem willing to change things week after week. I thought McCoist would be his own man, be a more adventuroues manager and play more attacking football but he seems to have taken the words 'set out not to lose' from Walter onboard. Yet WS could win matches. I dont have confidence in the trio, Ally, Kenny and Durrant. From day 1 i felt a experience No.2 should be helping Ally out and would have made the difference. Ray Wilkins is always the first name that comes to mind. Players need to take responsibility but they arent picking the team and tactics. They also cant drop themselves when in a bad run of form.
  8. It would have to be a red apple mind! No green ones allowed.
  9. Whilst I dont trust Whyte Im not sure why Ferguson can quickly point the finger so fast at Whyte and ignore the mess was caused by those before him.
  10. Looks like McCulloch could be filling in that role. Id probably have Jig upfront ahead of Healy anyway.
  11. I can see why Aluko, Bartely and Healy would be released giving the deals they are on but why would Papac be released if he is 'our' player. Aluko and Papac would be good to keep but we could do without Bartley and Healy.
  12. Where is the option for a Patsy / frontman. Id also agree he is a conman though.
  13. Few threads about where some money has disappeared to, but Iâ??d like to see what sort of numbers has been wasted on players down the years due to poor management and poor scouting system by bringing these players who: 1) Werenâ??t good enough 2) Players we will never know if they were good enough for not settling or not played in correct positions or not getting chance 3) Players who did sign but whoâ??s feeâ??s were excessive Iâ??ve drawn up this list of players, some current but mainly all former players. This list does back to the late 90s when spending started to peak. I ran most of them off the top of my head but then did a search on others. Iâ??d really like to see what it cost RFC on signing fee's, agent feeâ??s and wages on this list of players that was simply like throwing money away, it would probably be a scary amount and worrying because it shows that something was wrong top to bottom under 6 managers. A lot of them wonâ??t have cost much in football terms but when they all add it certainly would be a high amount. Its not 100% always the football managers fault, ok they pick the players but some has to come down to the owners who sanctioned the signings and of course some of these players will have to take some blame for not turning up. I know some on here wont agree about everyone on this list but is shows how many players we have had that just had short stays at Ibrox and the tally up of signing on feeâ??s, transfer fees, wages, agent bonuses would be scary. I cant comment on all players but have commented on some. Michael Ball â?? Decent player but over priced and probably over paid. James Beattie â?? Horror signing from a past it. The decision to sign him for over 1 million rather than take Novo back was terrible. Ale Bedoya â?? Hasnt featured and cost us a signing on fee and wage when times were at its worst. Olivier Bernard â?? Waste of wage and fees Jerome Bonnissel Nuno Capucho â?? Mass failure. Jeremy Clement Dan Eggen Pierre-FanFan Amdy Faye â?? Failure Tore Andre Flo â?? The most infamous and often talked about signing, the 12m price tag wasnt his fault and I dont think he was necessary a bad player but the price tag sticks. Marcus Gayle â?? Why did we sign him. Alan Gow Fanny Jeffers â?? Mass Failure Jani Kauppila Lionel Letizi Filippo Maniero â?? never kicked a ball. Matt McKay â?? Latest signing who cant seem to get a game. Dragan Mladenovic â?? 1 million signing who didnâ??t even look like a player. Makhtar Nâ??Diaye Dany Nâ??Guessan Fed Nieto â?? Liked this guy, scored about 5 goals in a few games then disappeared, why didnt he stay!! Juan Manual Ortiz â?? Poor signing this summer but played out of position. Egil Ostenstad â?? Captain of our worst signings XI Jerome Rothen â?? Bizarre one, came promising, played on wrong wing and was kicked back to France. Tero Penttila Daniel Prodan â?? Was a quality defender pre injury but why were we ever allowed to sign a guy who clearly wasnt going to kick a ball again. Julien Rodriguez Filip Sebo â?? Felt he should have featured a bit more. Lionel Sionko Paolo Vanoil Gregory Vignal Andy Webster â?? Imposter and this has been shown after he played so many games while out on loan and since moving on. Davie Weir missed less games than Webster played in 5 years.
  14. If Murray park had been a bit more successful over the years then we could sell the first team and go with home grown players for a few seasons but with only a handful ever coming through then if we went with them we'd struggle for top 6. I think Craigs original list on first post would be worst case scenario for selling players and Zappa's list of left over players could be what we will aim for. However if the likes of McCulloch want to stay on and play for free then its a gesture we'd grab with both hands and his experience would help the younger ones. This was Zappa's release list which ive edited with my choices: McGregor - Accept no less than £6.5m. / 20k a week off the books Whittaker - I think he'd go for 1.5m tops / 20k a week off the books Broadfoot - 500k to a team down south but I think we'll see him back in the SPL in 5 years with Dunfermline or the likes. Papac - A must stay for me if possible. If Wallace can get 2.5m then if we could keep Papac it would be a huge boost to the defence. Ortiz - With us offloading whittaker and Broadfoot perhaps Ortiz could return from loan and fit in at RB. Davis - Accept £2.5m / 20k+ off the books Edu - Try to get £2m. Accept no less than £1m. McCulloch - Play for free big man?? McKay - Try to get £500k. Accept £300k. / His flight expenses and phone bill to and fro Australia are too much!!! Lafferty - Try to get £2.5m. Accept no less than £1.5m. If we can keep one other luxury player (Lafferty a luxury, thats how bad times are) then id probably opt for Lafferty. Alexander is a good replacement for Mcgregor but we dont have anyone to come in upfront. Healy - Release.
  15. This thread is now worth becoming a sticky in the off chance that we do win the league. I cant see us winning it now but I still think we should be targeting narrowing the gap as much as possible below 10 pts. With all thats gone on it would restore a bit of pride on the playing side. Also might install bit of confidence for next season and knock Celtics at the same time.
  16. It makes a couple of poor results like drawing with Aberdeen and St Johnstone at home then losing at St Mirren all the more frustrating by throwing away such a big lead. If the 10 point deduction had kept us within 6-8 points we'd still have a chance of winning it if we won the last 2 OF games, plus they will drop points somewhere. The players could now be in the shop window with every game they play so they should be trying to impress anyone who turns up to watch them. Roll on Saturday and lets get 3 points against Kilmarnock. Celtic have a potential banana skin at Hibs on Sunday.
  17. Id be happy with this now also, shows we are better over the season. To win the last 2 OF games would be excellent, id even take 4 points in those 2 games.
  18. Even if some players offered 50% cuts is would be a good gesture especially if they are injured and not playing plus earning a whacking 20k / week i.e. Whittaker.
  19. What happens to your bet when you have a treble on but 1 match gets postponed and another abandoned 0-0 yet 3rd team wins?? I assume my stake is just a single on the one that wins??????? Had Birmingham (postponed), Boro (abandoned) and Arsenal (won). Other line, fuckin Bolton cost me! Blackburn, Bolton, Southampton, Reading.
  20. Always prefer this game at Anfield as its more of a battle then, usually at OT it can be boring and Utd will win. I am hoping Utd win this today and Villa get something off City tomorrow.
  21. If we get the Cousin who played in Lyon, Barca at home and that goal v Celtic in the last game then Id drive him to Ibrox myself....the Cousin in Florence no thanks, id drive in the opposite direction. Therefore it would have to come down to the deal he was on to get him in the mood to play. He is a monster and would rip that Celtic defence apart. Would really depend on his attitiude but if McCoist could get him to play well then id have him over Healy all day long. Remember when he scored that goal v Celtic he ran to McCoist as apprently it was Coistys plea to WS to play him that day so it may be that those 2 get on.
  22. While its in our own hands I always have to say yes but only if there is no repeat performances of last Sunday. If we were relying on Celtic to drop points elsewhere Id be a bit pessimistic at the moment although I do think their winning run will come to an end somewhere (Butcher may do a favour this weekend)....but as long as we win our games then we can still win it.
  23. Agree with that, a stronger assistant manager / coach with more experience could make a big difference.
  24. Who'd have thought it? An Italian leaving a sinking ship! This stinks of an agenda to get Redknapp the job after he was cleared of the tax issues. If the FA didnt want Capello to lead them to the Euro's they had to wait until Redknapps tax case was over but still act ASAP to give him the time he needs to prepare. Why was Suarez / Evra case held straight away but Ferdinand / Terry case deferred until July? Capello should have been involved in the FA meeting when they made the decision to drop Terry as captain. Those issues are a bit fishy for me. Footballing wise its still the best decision for England, Harry will bring the 'club team' atmosphere to the England set up and players will want to play for him more. He has always been a bit spoilt and wanted his own way and needed silly amounts of cash at the clubs he has been, now he doesnt need the cheque book because he can pick anyone he wants for the squad, its a dream job for Redknapp. I can see Jamie Redknapp being involved also. I never thought Capello was the right man for England, it was a bad appointment like Sven and McClaren all round, but I do think he has been bit unfairly treated here. Worst thing is under Harry I think England have a genuine chance at the Euro's now and its the first time since Venebles that they will be in with a real shout. Its also the first time since Venebles that they will have the right man in charge....thats if he gets it. Hope Stuart Pearce isnt involved, whilst I dont mind Harry I cant stand Pearce, absolute wank of a guy.
  25. 1 and 3 for sure, they are key. 1 relates to players and 3 relates to management. You dont need financial backing to have a good attitude, you need the backing of your manager and if he has belief in you then there is no excuse for a performance like last Sunday. As for tactics when McCoist looked after the Scottish Cup games under WS I thought when he eventually took over we'd see more of the same form the cup games i.e. a straight attacking 4-4-2 with players in correct positions, but McCoist has went backwards from WS's often baffling decisions. Difference is WS still got results and coudl make a change in a game but Ally just doesnt seem capable of doing this. Players make tactics rather than tactics make players, you cant expect a natural centre half to shine on the left wing of a 4-4-2, it just wont work. Look at how much stick Craig Moore used to get during 9IAR when WS played him midfield, then eyebrows were raised when Advocaat signed him back from Palace, yet he went onto become one of the best centre halfs we've had during the times Ive watched Rangers. So id say tactical changes are the top of that list at the moment because despite off field issues this is the one that is still well within control of the management and is the obvious one for poor performances. 2 is probably a cert but we dont watch training sessions so it would be guess work but it does seem soemthing has to change in training.
