Is Ally the Man for the job? - The McCoist Thread
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
I think in the long term we'll look back at the tough away matches and think crikey it wasnt so easy after all and this is part of the journey. Im sure everyone expected a few draws and defeats on the road but to have 2 lucky draws out of 2 away from home wasnt expected. If we were winning 6-0 every week the enjoyment might wear off because we are going to have 2-3 years of this climbing the leagues. Its still early days but by the end of September there is no excuses, the team will / should have gelled and all the off field stuff should be put to bed. By October / Nov I expect to be at least 6 points clear. -
Transfer thread - OFFICIAL!! David Templeton signs 4 year deal

Templeton would have been a good buy in the SPL, cant see him joining us in Div 3. On his day he is a wing wizard! -

Derek McInnes could be the man in 3 years time. He wouldnt leave the Championship where he has started the season off well. Davies is an obvious choice but Id be looking at asking Kevin Keegan to maybe come in and help out. He knows how to get the ball down and play attacking quick football. -

Because I cant see Ally getting the boot unless these results continue for at least another 4 away games. Bringing in someone with tactical knowledge to advise him seems the most likely scenario. -

Im getting worried that McCoist is taking this league for granted and that because we have better players on paper it will get us through games. 2nd away league match and 2nd time he is standing on the touchline looking a bit lost. Bring in an experienced assistant ASAP. And if thats Davies then so be it -
This is something I mentioned in the summer that because we are the only show in town the SFL could move away from the SPL and become the main player again. The teams in Div 1 like Dunfermline, Morton, Raith, Partick, Falkirk are all on par with the SPL teams like St Mirren, St Johnstone, Ross C, Caley etc for size and fan base. I previously mentioned it could be like the BDO / PDC situation in darts where the PDC is now the biggest and best. If the SFL managed to get the right applications with UEFA so the SFL champs were put in Europe then the SPL would dissolve. I think the SPL maggots may realise this hence the merge that will take place. Winning the SFL would make us champions of that body therefore Scottish Champions. Celtic would eventually pass our 54 but when you look at it as a race to 54 we won because the history books will show we didnt compete from 2012 onwards. These are the strength tools RFC and the SFL should be using unless we are part of the restructure debate.

That one wont be too tricky. Notice Rothen isnt mentioned

Do you get the Premier Leagues official channel out there? Is it presented by John Dykes with Andy Townsend and another on pre show? Thats what we have on the main channel which showed the 3 games you mentioned then the other games are all on individual channels. Its impossible to watch the 3pm kick offs as im channel hoping every 5 seconds. -

Most countries get every EPL game on live, we've 10 channels dedicated so if all 10 matches are on at same time we can switch between them....the goal was a cracker. -

3-0 Everton....Jelavic. Its too easy for them...switched over to watching this game now as Man Utd have wrapped their game up. Now we know why Martinez didnt want the Villa job. -

Fancied Everton strongly today. Lambert will need a bit of time to sort that mess out. Coupons doing not bad at the moment -

Swansea just outplayed West Ham in a 3-0 win. The first 2 goals were howlers from West Ham and well avoidable but Swansea were by far the better footballing team and Laudrup is strolling along there nicely. I thought it was disrespect to the Swansea players that all the credit for their good play went to Rodgers. -
Were getting there slowly but surely. Id say a keeper is needed. If Kyle Hutton and Hemmings get fitness and form then it makes a big difference. LIke Kuz says maybe a winger and a pacey striker. Pity we couldnt get Lovenkrands back.

Our European record - conversation moved from other thread
Gribz replied to simplythebest's topic in Rangers Chat
Quite enjoyed that read and debate over the last 4 pages about our Euro performances. In some games I just wish Walter had the balls to have a go more at teams and play to our strengths. He was certainly naive in Europe in the 90s playing 3-5-2 in games with likes of Craig Moore in midfield. Thinking back to Barcelona at Ibrox when we held the best club in Europe to a draw, with Daniel Cousin being awesome that night, showed we had a lot more in the locker. Like Kuznetsov says, the enjoyment of reaching Manchester only for a no show in the game was extremely dissapointing. -

Promising signing and the balance on the right does need stregthened considering Broadfoots start to the campaign. -
One of the most hot and cold players to ever play for us. But once again good luck and all the best and thanks for showing class and loyality over the summer by switching to Newco. The more these players leave the more Naismith and Whittaker look foolish, especially considering the way Green is handling things now the actual football has started. Hope he does well down south but Stoke arent the best club on the eye!!

Just burst out laughing in the office reading that....first time I knew of it. Baggio was one of my fave players and is one of the greatest of all time.

Not only is it a bad comment, if Fletcher is good enough for Scotland then he should let bygones be bygones and in the interest of the national team he should pick the striker if he apologieses and makes himself available.

Rangers could be fast-tracked into second tier via league reconstruction
Gribz replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
Funnily enough I was going to say that the Belgian league was surely invented by Yanks! -
Maybe a bit early for the comparisons considering Fleck was the new Rooney at one stage, but McKays goal against Peterhead was so Durrant-esk it was like watching an old video. Goram makes a good point that when we are back in the SPL the likes of McKay will be 20 and 3 years experienced, that is only a good thing. Having McCulloch, Black and Shiels around them will bring them on a bit, those 3 have to pretty much look after the younger ones at this stage.

Rangers could be fast-tracked into second tier via league reconstruction
Gribz replied to Steve1872's topic in Rangers Chat
Just read about the Belgian structure. Top flight of 16 teams play each other twice, then points are halved. Then the top 6 play each other again twice and side that then finishes top wins the league. Teams 7-14 are divided into 2 groups (odds and evens) and play each other twice. Winners of each group have a play off and the winner then has a play off with team 4th or 5th for a Europe spot. - Holy Shit!!! Bottom 2 play each other 5 times! 15th place club starts with 3 pts and 16th team starts with zero. A lot to follow. I can see 1 or 2 pro's in it that it generates a bit of interest for a full season but thats it! The team finishing 3rd from bottom in the regular season can still qualify for Europe!!
