  1. Im not against renaming if it is good investment but the problem lies with the situation similar to Newcastle renaming St James' Pk to Sports direct. How many people will still refer to Ibrox? Will Sponsors eventually pull out due to that reason? For me the great stadiums are more than just a name. We cant compare to Emirates because it was a new stadium altogether. Had Highbury been renamed it would still been Highbury. Can you imagine Anfield or Old trafford being renamed to the British Airways Arena? No it woudlnt work. Man Citys stadium has had 3 names but because its still a very new stadium people havent cemented any attachments with it. The City of Manchester Stadium, Eastlands and now Etihad havent had enough time. Then you look at West Ham. How many people refer to the real name of their stadium The Boleyn Ground! I used to go there every week and it was / is always Upton Park. Ibrox is also more than a name, its pretty much the place around the stadium. Therefore the new name will have to be something specatular and catchy for it to work or may have to include Ibrox in it. They cant just rename it, the internals or features would have to be changed. Say if we went for the Adidas arena (seen as they are going to be making our strips from next season AT LAST) then the ground would have to have an Adidas theme and feel to it. As said I am not against it but simply changing a name doesnt work especially with such a famous name.
  2. ......if you dont have a beer gut

    Greg Wylde

As a player I liked him, he was showing promise. He was far from the finished article but he was a direct attacking wide player who could have been developed further. I thought he was unfairly dropped from the team. As to why and how he left, that is a different matter. He was the first to agree to cancel his contract. Whether it was a get out ASAP card or geniune only him and his close ones will know the truth. But what he didnt do was make a clown of himself like Naismith and Whittaker who embarrassed themselves claiming the new owners hadnt have the nerve to knock on their door explaining their situation - like they were the be all and end all of Rangers. Charles Greens dignity and so far success has made them look ridiculous. Whittaker is another who will be in the Championship next season and Naismith has landed lucky in at a very good Everton side with a top manager. So at least Wylde left professionally. If he had prior knowledge that Bolton wanted him at least it wasnt all over the papers. Bolton obviously isnt the right club to develop him and a step back to Carlisle might be what he needs to put his game on track again.
  4. Agreed. Hate it when fame and money seems to give these twats the impression that they are above everyone else. Was having a chat about Arsenals best ever XI and I said Winterburn would walk in ahead of Cole for professionalism alone.
  5. What smackhead came out with that theory in the first place. County havent recovered since Celtic sneaked a point off them a few weeks ago. A good manager would pick them up from that. I used to work with Derek Adams sister Leanne, she was a fine lass so I do hope DA does well with County this season.
  6. Draw in Full: Rangers v Inverness Aberdeen v St Mirren Celtic v St Johnstone Dundee Utd v Hearts Semi's SHOULD look pretty tasty: Rangers, Aberdeen, Celtic, then toss of the coin between Dundee U and Hearts
  7. Got to be happy with that.
  8. Still cant believe its taken them 8 days to fix the draw. We will be a snooker ball and Celtic will be a table tennis ball .
  9. By this I meant Dundee Utd
  10. The only way new seats would be good is if it created a bit more knee room but in turn that reduces capacity. What surprised me about St James Park was how it only held 52000 when the stands are practically touching the clouds but the leg room in the top tier is a lot you can comfortably have your feet a good bit in front of you compared to sitting in the brace position at some parts of Ibrox.
  11. Or Dundee 'Celtic' Utd
  12. Why spend so much on seats in the first place when that money could be put to other use.
  13. Meanwhile in the other cup: Somebody care to explain to me why we have to wait over 1 week for a draw and the purposes of having it in Dumbarton in the first place!!! Id gladly have given up a home tie in the Scottish cup for a home tie in this cup. The law of averages says we might end up with an away tie here though. So far in this cup we've had all home games against East Fife, Falkirk and Motherwell.
  14. QPR dont look like a team at all, seems there is either bit of back ground interferring going on or the players get to do what they want. Leeds, Forest and Sheff Wed all big sides in the championship id rather see in the Premier League than the likes of Wigan. Sheff Wed will come good, Dave Jones is a good manager, he got them up last season and will probably need 1 season to stabilise. But they are a big side.
  15. Im not so sure he is. I cant really recall him being in the same class as Gough who is a real legend.
  16. Broons a Jakey...... Green coming through with flying colours backing the club and to think John Brown tried to take it off him. What the hell would have happened had this crackpot got his wish.
  17. Arsenal fuck up at the back again. This zonal marking might be fooling some people but its a blatent bombscare. 2 goals gifted to Chelsea today. They would never have scored in open play if they didnt do this. Dropping Mertesacker for Koscielny was a boob and cost them the game. After Diaby went off there was problems in midfield and Ramsay is out of his depth there. There lies the obvious problems for Wenger.
  18. Only read page 1 but what sprung to mind is get Orange Network as our sponsor. Then there is reason for an orange strip. We've always had a bit of dutch connections so thats the way I see our link to Orange also. Nothing else.
  19. I think the first one is just shaped like that in the photo, but the 2nd is a chicks top.
  20. I thought some of the Spurs tops by Puma? are more cycling tops and the adidas ones have been fine. If Lampard can wear one then anyone can. Resign Boyd and have Kyle and Boyd upfront with tight tops on
  21. Not bad Zappa, prefer a round neck though. I think most Chelsea shirts in the last 5 or 6 years have been brilliant and I hope we get something similiar to theirs. Shame about the team though.
  22. They did very well last season but there was a place up for grabs around the top 6 due to Liverpool being poor. I dont think they will do as well this season though. He must know some dark secrets about the Newcastle owners to get that length of contract.
  23. Dont need to strip titles to reject the SPL for me. I wouldnt want to go back in there with the current set up and vile that comes with it. Notice how a few of my aberdeen supporting 'friends' on FB were laughing when we dropped out but are now begging for us to be drawn with them at Pittodrie in the League cup. They cant live without us. Id like nothing more than getting them at Ibrox and stuffing them.
  24. Arsenal v Chelsea in the early kick off, could be a belter. If Arsenal drew at Man Citeh then they can beat Chelsea especially the way they are playing. Chelsea have some cracking individuals but dont quite seem a unit yet. They have also a kind fixture list in the first few games. Plus with no Drogba that could be the difference, Chelsea only seemed to beat Arsenal with him in the team. But the big emirates pitch and the new style could be good for Chelsea with Oscar, Hazard and Mata in the team. Arsenal 2-1 Chelsea.
