What happened with Edu and Valencia? I thought he went there? But good luck to him if he moves to Stoke, not really a club I like to watch but like the others who transferred their contract over he goes with fans best wishes and thanks....hope he goes and gives Whittaker and Naismith a solid few tackles when Stoke play Norwich and Everton. Time running out for more bodies to come in though. Really need 1 or 2 more ASAP as if we get caught up with injuries then we could be in an ugly situation. I still think we should be knocking on Wengers door to get a few more Bartley type deals. Or are Newcastle sending the reserves up with the Ashley deal? This seems to have gone quiet.

I thought that also, plus thought he only had 1 leg for a few seconds!

2 lines down yesterday. Had 4 draws which would have been a small fortune: Reading 1-1 Stoke West Brom 3-0 Liverpool Birmingham 1-1 Charlton Derby 2-2 Sheff Wed 5 Homes: Arsenal 0-0 Fulham 5-0 Leicester 2-0 Sheff Utd 1-0 Hearts 2-2 First line is a bit of a sickener

I think they will give Rodgers time unless they dont win in 10 games or something like that. They have Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd in 3 of their next 4 games But agree their team is awful compared to Everton and Newcastle. Spurs also are better on paper but Im not sure if AVB is a wind up to football or was unfairly treated at Chelsea. -

Arsenal had 23 attempts. They havent had that many without scoring since a 1-0 defeat by West Ham (first team to win at emirates) in 2007. I remember that game well and Rob Green pulled of the single best goal keeping performance Ive ever seen. Just thinking Dalglish has ruined Liverpool. Carroll, Adam and Henderson for best part of 60 million....Rodgers has his work cut out. At least he has got Aquellini off the books. But considering a few years ago Benitez had Alonso, Mascherano and Garcia, they have went extremely downhill. -

Make it a treble with Mark Hughes...Make it a four fold with Chris Hughton Im baffled by Rodgers appointment, Liverpool needed a top manager like Hiddink, Van Gaal, Deschamps or even Rodgers replacement Laudrup!!! Not surprised by Swansea winning, I fancied them to get at least a point, QPR are a mess. But 5-0 is brilliant. Liverpool cost me, had that been a draw then Id have been up huge with a 4 fold of draws....3 of which came up. As for Arsenal...same old! But most importantly a winning return for West Ham. -
Jammy feckers as usual.

1-0 County with 15 mins to go.

Man Utd are a quality midfielder away from winning the league, I can see Man City retaining it as they have a stronger XI. Yaya Toure is the difference. City also have the better keeper which is huge. Arsenal will go closer this season, losing Van Persie will have a good effect that they dont just rely on 1 player and will now play as a unit. Their defence will be better with Steve Bould as assistant. Wigan, Norwich and Southampton to go down but there will be 6 or 7 involved in the battle. I can see Stoke and West Brom struggling this season. -
That game is next year, it could be a cricket score!!

A lot of Gooners are saying he only gave them 1 season out of 7 which isnt quite correct, he gave a few half seasons. But he is injury prone and 24m is a big risk. Im glad he's gone to Man U rather than Man City though, was getting fed up seeing Man City buy everyone. As with Vieira and Henry Arsenal saw the best of him and I dont think he'll get any better with age. He was awful at the Euro's. He had Alex Song to be thankful for half his goals last season. But if he is fit this season then its a terrific signing for Man Utd considering Rooney is getting fat.

Levein will be acting like he's won the World Cup. And winning this game means he will certainly start the qualifiers are manager, that means any Tartan Army member can book their 2014 holiday to anywhere but Brazil.

Will happily step in when there are 'no shows'. I'll also do in the next schedule, hope to see a few games online first so I can get more understanding on the team

It is worse, at least Burley had the excuse of a bottle of Famous Grouse inside him when he made his comment. Levein makes me cringe, what is with his permanent arrogance? Like the rest of Scottish football there is no ambition and long term plan going forward with the national team. 5-1 defeat from the USA last time, I fancy Australia to bash us 3-1 in this game. This upcoming qualifying group is the easiest on paper in a long long time, top seeds are Croatia and Serbia rather than the past decade with Italy, Germany, France, Holland, Spain....yet I fancied us more up against all those countries more so than this group with Levein.

I meant to mention Derek McInnes. Although will be interesting to see Bristol City this season, started off good there but scrape safe in the end. -

To the original OP question, IF and big IF things go badly and we are looking to replace AM it would have to be Billy Davies for me. I heard his name punted about while we in the SPL and didnt fully fancy him, thought we could go bit better but I think he'd still have won us the SPL. He'd stroll this situation IMO. A guy who is underrated and does very well in lower leagues down south is Paul Sturrock. Dont know how many teams he has saved with no players then got them promoted. Wouldnt want him in the SPL but for the situation we are in now he has proven track record. Anyway, rather than removing Ally, id rather see McDowall and / or Durrant move aside and a better no.2 coming in. -

I honestly think this thread will have more substance in the next 3-4 weeks. By then we will be able to judge after the team is settled and players have shaken off the summer rustyness. We'll see if the trip to Peterhead was a one off or not. I do see the Anti-Ally side in that at times last season is was like pulling teeth to seek a change on the park and some things were baffling but at times the hands were tied and once Admin kicked in it was a different playing field. Ally has to start by winning games, simple as! The style of football will come eventually. Everyone thought this season would be a stroll, but even in the Mens 100m Usain Bolt is a slow starter but then runs away with it....Im happy if we finish as strong as him. -
Still think if we draw an 2011-12 SPL team in the cup away then it should be boycotted....no way do we want to sell out their grounds. Of course it would be nice to go there and start our return but let them rot for a while and our time will come

Ive always still remained strong when it comes to the National team but Levein is now making this very tricky for me to get behind them. I have always respected good quality players in the past regardless even if they played for Celtic but these days I am struggling to name or recognise more than half the squad. Plus if Whittaker and Naismith are now in the team I cant say I want success for them either. SFA and Scottish Football - Going backwards very fast.

Ive been saying that since day 1 but its unlikely now. I think someone like Gough or Ian Ferguson would be better if we go along the Ex players route. Gough hasnt good manager experience but he is a leader and a winner. Ian Ferguson would be much more vocal than Durrant but cant see him giving up his life in Oz. -
Barton absolutely! We had Diouf previously so why not Barton, in fact Barton is a better player. As long as they behave then I dont care how they are, Id just want a bit of quality to come in. Savage was a bit tongue in cheek, but he was playing at a higher level than ANY scottish league just 12 months ago. Not sure what other options are, but moving McCulloch back into centre midfield is a no no for me. Im all for the youngster playing and McKay had a good game but there is still 35 league games plus cup matches to get through.

Yeah I heard about this sell out Saturday, not one of the 4 games were near to full houses. Some aberdeen fan was talking about it on sky sports news saying they already have 13,800 season tickets yet their crowd yesterday was 14000. Yet 0-0 with Ross County wont encourage them to go back. Even with a Edinburgh derby today, I doubt there will be 20000 there that Easter Road holds. Maybe 16 or 17 thousand yet in Hibs next home game it will be back down to less than half full.
