Some clubs will not benefit from Rangers in the lower divisions
Gribz replied to calscot's topic in Rangers Chat
Yes kind of agree and OK we want to make friends but not fund clubs at the same time. However it would seem to be a bit of a one off or maybe for 2 years only (after promotion to Div 1 the relegated SPL clubs dont get an invite). But it would show good gesture from the club. I guess you could let the 2 clubs play off for the spot rather than draw them out of a hat, or even ask them to sent a combined XI for it. Having Milan and Hamburg would over shadow East Fife and Stranraer. -
The first thing is at least the SFL are showing a bit of movement with the need to restructure. Also their idea will mean the majority of the SPL will still play top flight football when it starts as the top league gets an expansion....as that is a positive move I only expect it to be knocked back. The down side is the start date of 2015, that means the current disaster set up will spiral down wards even more in 2-3 years. Therefore whats wrong with getting it going from next season or the season after. SFL hold a lot of cards now. All members must know the bad shape of the SPL so should the SFA and SPL knock this back without even review then the SFL should break away. Div 1 clubs should reject promotion. It might mean a slight loss of TV money for 1 season (or not at all if SKY dont renew) and a 2 big gates from when Celtic visit but long term they would get that back from when Rangers are in town. Also, who knows what dangers there are of entering the SPL, that league looks like its in meltdown already. Im not so sure about propelling a B side into the lower league, I would have it restuctured so regional leagues are below the new Div 2 with promotion and relegation active then start our B team off in the regional league. That dangles a carrott for them to get promotion and gives them something to play for....would be benefical to have them more competitive.

How about cups, can they still be drawn in the cup?

Pre season tournament would be better option with Rangers, AC Milan, Hamburg and 1 of the SFL clubs. Play 2 games on the same day and there will likely be a bumper crowd. Shame one club has to miss out but some arrangement could be made with the 2 clubs that they split their share of the money then draw them from a hat to see who gets to play. -

Jammy City again. Dzeko is making a habit of late winners. Great win for West Ham. -

Agree. I can now see why some Arsenal fans would want Wenger to go, his stubborness has had a too big effect. With Guardiola available I wonder how many Gooners would take a swap! -
Nowhere near it today....50 quid treble on Arsenal Everton and Leeds. Leeds got a royal dooing, that should be that twat Warnock out of a job.

Come on Arsenal, give Fulham a good tonking today and get back in the title race. Man U should cruise it at Villa. City will beat Spurs but it will be a boring game. Chelsea will beat Liverpool. -

Hearts fail to pay six players their September wages
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Kennedy? Was never convinced by him anyway for Rangers. But if Hearts do go and need to start again in Div 3 surely they would have to wait until next season to play? They couldnt just walk back into a league half way through. It would be a Gretna situation and teams would get 3 points for fixtures. They cant go anywhere else except Div 3. -

Having people actually 'like' this plus the comments show how we have animals walking around pretending to be humans. -
We could go for the bizarre Belgian option which would be so confusing we may give up altogether! But its worked for them all the way down to the grass roots.

Who would qualify for Europe?

Its been much more obvious that there are too many clubs since 4 divisions were set up rather than 3 in the 90s. I even did a report for an english class assignment back in the 90s. But its not just the 2 Dundee clubs across the road from each other its having 4 teams up the road from them - Brechin, Forfar, Arbroath and Montrose all in the space of 20 miles from each other....they should have all merged and become Angus Utd. Im sure the central belt and Fife have similar scenarios. The Scottish game is now beginning to melt away infront of our eyes despite all the warning signs for years....the SPL and SFA should be struck off as incompetant. I cant believe the government simply allow this yet they would get involved and help Hearts?! Restructure shouldnt just be discussed right now, it should take effect from the start of next season with a 2 or 3 division set up and get the regional game back involved so it entices all the junior clubs that they have a chance of making it professional. As for the OP about Hearts, I see where Super Ally comes from. I wouldnt go as far as saying a brotherly relationship but Hearts have always been the 3rd force in Scottish football for the last 20 years. It was a refreshing challenge when Burley took over and looked like they would seriously be title contenders. They also did well in 1988, 1998 and 2006. Again you would feel for the genuine fan if Hearts went through what we did. They dont have a Charles Green coming along to buy them from Mad Vlad and 50000 at every home game so they would be in a far worse state, yet the other 10 SPL clubs (not Celtic) would be even worse if it happened to them. The SPL needed to watch what they wished for with their treatment to Rangers and the domino effect will now take place and start to pick off some of these clubs. Rangers and Celtic practically funded the game with away support and TV rights. I would be sorry to see Hearts go bust altogether and if they do go into Admin then if the twats at SPL / SFA dont restructure then I hope they go to Div 3.

Craig Levein exits as Scotland coach following talks
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
Paid until 2014? Nuts! SFA are not fit and proper. Levein should do the decent thing and admit he was a donkey and accept a smaller pay off. -
Barca arent firing on all cylinders, they have had some wierd scores but a team cant win every game and the amount of football Xavi and Iniesta plus others have played over the last 2 years is enough to slow anyone down, they have played right up to end of may for 2 seasons plus international all the way to the end. But as mentioned, fair play to the hooped horrors they won the game. Had that been us id be having a 2 day bender.
-
Yeah Spurs have spent but probably inline with what they can afford so I dont mind that even though I dont like them. It makes them challenge but not walk away with anything like City 'Expect'.

Its the day I launch the sale of my T-shirts: I SURVIVED 2012
-
SFA have a lot to answer for, they and the SPL have ruined the game. The SFA employed Levein and its went so far backwards.
-
This is blatent! Not only that Celtic were drawn at home on the Sat also, yet who gets moved for TV? We are the only show in town.
-
Just cant want Man City to win anything. When its a team like Spurs or Everton who have worked there way up then Id want to see them do well but just dont like City at all. Glad they are practically out. Arsenal still have it all to do to qualify after throwing away a 2 goal lead.
