  1. Arsenal 5-2 Spurs for 2nd season in a row....wish i had a sly fish on that! Different game though. Spurs 1 up and fell. Arsenal needed that to lift them then got going. Weird how that made them lift. were they scared??? But after that it was sublime. The 4th goal was what Arsenal are all about. Now for a winning run.....watch this space, here come the Gooons
  2. Its currently the BPL B standing for Barclays of course.
  3. 3 games
  4. Got to give you that one! Well done. Another International - 27 Caps for N Ireland. Cant believe he plays for Olympiacos at the moment.
  5. Billy Thomson! Good shout. As is Brown who Laudrup11 just mentioned. Thompson - 3 Scotland caps. Quality keeper for Dundee utd in the 80s during their UEFA cup run.
  6. Yeah late late teens sound about right Seventeen + Sixteen. Nicky Walker is one I forgot.
  7. Many of them internationals as well. Chris Woods - 43 England Caps. Bonni Ginzburg - 68 Israel Caps. Andy Goram - 43 Scotland Caps. Theo Snelders - 1 Holland Cap. Andy Dibble - 3 Wales Caps. Antti Niemi - 67 Finland Caps. Lionel Charbonnier - 1 France Cap. Stefan Klos - 2 Germany Caps (Olympics) Thomas Myhre - 56 Norway Caps Jesper Christensen - 11 Denmark Caps Ronald Watterreus - 7 Holland Caps Allan McGregor - 26 Scotland Caps Lionel Letizi - 4 France Caps Neil Alexander - 3 Scotland Caps
  8. As there was a mention about keepers in the marathon McCoist thread, got me starting to think of all the keepers we've had that I can recall seeing play. Not necessarily in my lifetime, else Id have added McCloy but I cant recall seeing him play live so I exclude him. This will show some ages of folks. I've maybe missed out 1 or 2 but we've had some top notch keepers. Tried to get them in order. Chris Woods - Understudy to Shilton at England but still a top keeper. Colin Scott - Always remember the blonde hair. Lyndsay Hamilton - Battled it out with Scott as 2nd keeper to Woods. Bonni Ginzburg - Seem to remember him well but he only played a handful of games. Andy Goram - The Goalie! Up there with the best in the world at his peak for me. Ally Maxwell - Bit of a bombscare at times. Theo Snelders - Aberdeen got the best out of him when he replaced Leighton but still a handy 2nd keeper. Andy Dibble - Was an emergency signing for an old firm title decider which we won! Antti Niemi - Under rated! Absolute top keeper on his day. Did well with Rangers, Hearts and Fulham. Lionel Charbonnier - French world cup squad winner signed in 98 then got injured....and replaced by... Stefan Klos - Der Goalie. World Class keeper up there with Goram for me! Shame he got injured and never won his place back. Thomas Myhre - Norweigan international was another emergency signing who played a handful of games. Jesper Christensen - Danish international who didnt feature much. Ronald Watterreus - Came in for Klos and kept his place. Half decent keeper but Klos should have regained the No.1 after injury. Allan McGregor - Most improved player ever to wear a Rangers shirt. Went from being promising to top class. Still baffled Man Utd or another top English team didnt come in for him. Lionel Letizi - Bit of a butter fingers kind of keeper and was out quite promptly. Neil Alexander - Like Niemi was, a quality back up keeper to have who is now current No.1 and will probably go down in history as a legend in his own way if he remains there while we work our way back up the leagues.
  9. I think Letizi pulled up at Charles de Gaulle and was replaced by an impersonator.
  10. Sky wasnt around in the 60s, 70s and 80s and neither was big money in the game yet thats when Scottish teams were at their best and competed with the top of europe. Its the runners from the grass roots to the top that needs rid of poison....once we have a more attractive product then SKY will come knocking. They know Rangers and Celtic are a money maker for them.
  11. At first thought I wasnt keen with this but on second thoughts id have him ahead of the likes of Coyle who is linked. Strachan Smith and Jordan and way out leaders for the post first.
  12. 33% of our turnover is a higher figure of 66% of St Mirren / St Johnstones turnover. If turnover increases our wage cap could still be quite a high amount. Season ticket prices were dropped this season so when we get back to the top flight its natural ST would go up.
  13. A club not in debt...sounds rather sensible to me. A wage cap will probably come into play for all teams eventually. Ok so Man City will be able to cap it higher than most but with financial fair play kicking in they might have to tighten things up rapidly next season. These new rules is what I think is keeping Wenger in a job at Arsenal. Anyway it will probably be on basic wage only, players can still make nice add-ons in bonuses and signing on fees. If we are still plying our trade in Scotland then this cap is a must! If we eventually get an Atlantic league or move down south due to the SPL surviving as it stands then the cap increases.
  14. Sounds like its well worth a shot...how can it be any worse than the current set up. If it doesnt work out at least they tried to restructure. 30 games is a tad on the low side but that could allow for a winter break plus the league cup games being played on weekends rather than midweeks - giving better crowds.
  15. Take a bow son. You often read about spectacular over heads kicks and some are over rated but that was sublime. Makes Rooneys v Man City look like a tap in.
  16. Shows how far we went backwards. That would have been a 5-0 win in the past. I think if Levein was in charge we'd have drawn.
  17. Surely one for the cameras. Id imagine MK Dons will get a sell out. Although does the top tier of their stadium still not get used?
  18. Agree and how was he ever going to field a winning formula with a split dressing room and people undermining him. It played into the opposition hands straight away.
  19. Might be a bit tricky to find a team Kenny unless you pay your own wages! Aberdeen seem to be picking up a lot of ex Gers who are playing out their careers but they cant afford him.
  20. Pete will know the prices of some games, he goes to Dortmund. I have read German tickets are low priced which is amazing value for money considering its a cracking league. I like the BPL for interest and entertainment but the Bundesliga is certainly my 2nd choice of league to watch at the moment. Always liked Serie A but its not as good as it once was.
  21. Only if the relegated teams voted FOR the change. If not then they make their own bed.
  22. Im not a qualified lawyer but what did it state in his contract? If sacked he remains paid until the end of contract on monthly basis or gets paid all upfront. One doughball v a group of doughballs. We is Regan also still in a job? He isnt fit and proper and shouldnt be allowed to name the next Scotland boss.
  23. Dont often read his blogs but found myself familiar with most on it on what Ive been saying. SFL hold the top cards and have the numbers (clubs). I said on another post they should break away and hopefully the Div 1 clubs see there is no financial gain going to the SPL so should reject promotion. SFL can then in turn reject the relegated SPL club at the end of the season.
  24. Who was his uncle again...also played full back for Leeds at same time??? That was a cracking team they had.
  25. Yes kind of agree and OK we want to make friends but not fund clubs at the same time. However it would seem to be a bit of a one off or maybe for 2 years only (after promotion to Div 1 the relegated SPL clubs dont get an invite). But it would show good gesture from the club. I guess you could let the 2 clubs play off for the spot rather than draw them out of a hat, or even ask them to sent a combined XI for it. Having Milan and Hamburg would over shadow East Fife and Stranraer.
