Agreed to an extent except with good friendly relationships with the likes of AC Milan, Hamburg and Linfield. Thats shown by playing friendly MATCHES and with fans getting along. But when was the last time we invited Aston Villa to Ibrox or vice versa.
-
Not just that, we were in attacking possession and he did a classic Barry Ferguson maneuver turning 180 degrees and headed for his own goal and gave the ball away plus a foul. That cost us the match. What was the chopped off goal all about? The linesman fucks up because Adam was offside by half a yeard but not flag went up and play on, he then pins a perfectly good cross in which Fletcher scores and his flag goes up to cancel out his previous error. Levein didnt pick Commons in his original squad yet calls him up late as cover yet starts him. What was he planning on playing before he called him up! Cant be for Rhodes as they ar different players. Hutton hasnt played 1 minute for Villa this season yet has played in all 3 games. If he was playing regularly and near his Rangers form then he's a no brainer but he looks about2-3 stone over weight at the moment. Both Levein and Houston said its not a must win game. Get rid of them today!

See where your coming from. Id say almost all Scottish Rangers fans have let go of some support for the national team on some basis, whether its hoping they get gubbed or like me where they still want them to win but there is no passion for a win due to the reasons you have listed. And game by game with Levein in charge this is dropping.

SPL has coped with loss of Rangers, says Neil Doncaster

I was putting the perspective into the size of these games compared to any SPL match including Rangers. -

Agree. The total attendance of the highland derby would fit into the Broomloan Rd stand with seats left over. The total attendance of the Tayside derby would fit into the Govan stand with loads of seats left over. -
Thats right, Durrant and Hateley scored in a cup match, 1993/94. Mhanks were given Broomloan and Govan stands, hope they were wiped clean for ST holders afterwards!

Their classic 1994 League cup final against Raith was played at Ibrox as was the 1997 Scottish cup final between Falkirk and Kilmarnock. As we were pretty much in most finals in the 90s we had quite a few finals at Parkhead during the period Hampden closed twice. 1993 Scottish cup final v Aberdeen 2-1, 1993 League cup final v Hibs 2-1, 1996 league cup final against Hearts 4-3, 1998 Scottish cup final against Hearts (bad game 2-1 defeat), plus a cup match where we gubbed Dunfermline 6-1. But after this year I hope we tell them to jog on and that they cant use Ibrox. They will then look at Murrayfield but the Rugby toffs wont want the likes of Celtic coming in and throwing seats about. So they will be left with using Easter Road or Tynecastle or Rugby Park.

[/img] What a smug barsteward. -
Quite ironic in a week where Jock Stein would have been 90 these teams meet at the same ground in a same WC qualifier. The difference is these 2 sides arent a patch on what they used to be. Wales under Gary Speed were going somewhere but since Coleman came in they look back to there worst. 10-20 years ago this game would have thrown up almost as much interest as a England v Scotland game, now we might just ending up throwing up watching it (Pete theres one for your next Taxi). If Scotland dont get a win then it is an absolute must Levein is punted regardless if the Belgium games is a few days later. Wonder what genius formation Levein will attempt this match. I will still watch it and be supporting Scotland but anything other than a win will be my last until Levein is removed.
-
Thats right, he's scored 5 goals in the top league down south and he might not play. The worst thing about the international break is having to look and hear from these two turnips - Levein and Houston. I seriously am worried in case Levein is a contender as the next Rangers boss. You never know what can happen in football, if he doesnt pick up a win in these games then he will get the boot and that makes him available should Ally go.

Wasnt Templeton a 2 month injury?
-
But its the ladies this time.
-
I think Templeton will make a huge difference when he gets back. He's a player who will have foot to the ball and drive at opposition and create things. If Hemmings can eventually get fit and a run then again I see him as a player who will be at his best with ball to feet. As opening post says we should also be upping the tempo.

Not sure you'd see the words on the away kit without a border

Was out and about shopping yesterday and amazed to find all 3 (Home, away, 3rd) in a football store. Got last years home at this shop but they didnt have away or 3rd then. It was pretty hidden mind while the hooped horror shirt was high on display next to Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal shirts.

Is Ally the Man for the job? - The McCoist Thread
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
Is this statement from Green going to make Ally change his decision making and tactical awareness and make him a better manager over night? It might give us a reaction and we'll go out and win our next away game (Clyde) but would that be papering over cracks. I wish Ally would call Ray Wilkins in the morning and ask if he'd come up and join him for 6 months. -

Agreed. He is respected as a person and what he did as a player but people forget respect has to be earned and not handed out due to who they are. As a manager Ally hasnt came near to achieving it. You wonder if we had someone else in charge with these results (say Jim Jefferies) the disrespect would be 227 pages long on this thread. Craig, last week you said if Calderwood was in charge it would be a final straw for you, is that disrespecting someones abilites before they have even had a chance? -
How many would have the man in the opposition dugout for this game (Butcher) on their short list as next Rangers boss??

What expectations did you have in July before the season started?
Gribz replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Like previously said, it was dependant on transfers in. But after we got a few good players then I expected to win the league by February. Of course that could still happen. Winning the Ramsdens cup should have been a caker. I wasnt bothered about the League and Scottish cup, especially the latter and was keen to boycott this. But also the league is an absolute must so Id rather put all efforts into winning this. -
Cheers pete. I will share with link with the misses. Looks a great place.

Pete, need an english version Im looking at doing a 10 day trip to Europe next month and Germany is certainly on the cards, will take this into consideration now.

Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
If you look at last season then he had a strong squad and when everyone was fit we went on a run of firing on all cylinders and doing well, but any team with Jelavic in the side are going to score goals as Everton are seeing. When he got a few injuries it went a bit pair shaped. This season its hard to tell for a few reasons. Its a new team and I havent seen much games. Obviously some players will need to get adjusted to this level but if they are good enough for the SPL they should easily manage to adapt to this league despite coming up against opposition who are having their cup final every week against the big boy. I think players can be blamed for the odd lacklusture performance but if its on view every week then the management needs to step in and sort that out. -

The sand in the egg timer has ran out. Its not simply due to the first defeat of the season, its been a collective opinion of all results, performances, tactical decisions and so on. We seen slight evidence in some SPL matches last season but was given benefit of doubt due to having his hands tied. It is maybe just he isnt cut out for this level, he's always been playing and managing at the top level in the country and now going down the leagues needs someone with more experience of this divisions. Its also papering over cracks 1 good 3 bad, yet beating Motherwell showed there is something there but why cant we do that everyweek? He should have learned his trade by now being assistant at the National side then under Walter for 3 seasons in the UEFA and CL. Durrant and McDowall dont help one bit, they seem even more clueless to me. As good a player as Durrant was he doesnt come across as the management type, he could be good at coaching younger ones and giving tips but I get the impression he'd rather have a laugh and a joke with everyone. Coisty has been hugely dignified during our dark moments this year and was a superb ambassador for the club but on the park is where is counts and its time for a change. -
Im not against renaming if it is good investment but the problem lies with the situation similar to Newcastle renaming St James' Pk to Sports direct. How many people will still refer to Ibrox? Will Sponsors eventually pull out due to that reason? For me the great stadiums are more than just a name. We cant compare to Emirates because it was a new stadium altogether. Had Highbury been renamed it would still been Highbury. Can you imagine Anfield or Old trafford being renamed to the British Airways Arena? No it woudlnt work. Man Citys stadium has had 3 names but because its still a very new stadium people havent cemented any attachments with it. The City of Manchester Stadium, Eastlands and now Etihad havent had enough time. Then you look at West Ham. How many people refer to the real name of their stadium The Boleyn Ground! I used to go there every week and it was / is always Upton Park. Ibrox is also more than a name, its pretty much the place around the stadium. Therefore the new name will have to be something specatular and catchy for it to work or may have to include Ibrox in it. They cant just rename it, the internals or features would have to be changed. Say if we went for the Adidas arena (seen as they are going to be making our strips from next season AT LAST) then the ground would have to have an Adidas theme and feel to it. As said I am not against it but simply changing a name doesnt work especially with such a famous name.
