Is Ally the Man for the job? - The McCoist Thread
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
I was checking the scores late last night while watching the BPL games and saw 0-0 at half time before nodding off.....my thoughts were I wonder if the occasion of 140 years got in the way of McCoists preparations etc. It might be unlikely but my thoughts were he would have a lot of people to meet and greet so possibly took the eye off the ball. Anyway saw the result in the morning but havent read about the performance. -
Here's my idea for League construction which could be the solution to both SFL, SPL and all 42 clubs. SFL want a 16 team top league and the SPL want a 12 team top division. (16 Teams would been my original preference but it is less games which could have been made up with a winter break plus League cup matches on weekends). However what the game needs is a boost and something to inspire all clubs. The first season could be a 16-10-16. The 16 team SPL 1 would have the bottom 6 teams relegated with 2 promoted from the 10 division SPL 2. This would give every team something to play for likely right up until the final day. I think even the TV companies would fancy this. Similar promotions and relegations in the 10 team SPL 2 and 16 team championship happen to allow a restructure to 12-12-18. After one season of the 12-12-18 the regional leagues open up and there is relegation from the Championship (3rd tier). The first season Rangers would be in the Championship (current 10 teams in Div 3 plus 6 from Div 2). We'd likely be promoted so when the new structure of 12-12-18 starts the 6 teams relegated in the first season would likely have fixtures v Rangers in SPL 2, so all is not lost for them. Its a fresh start and chance for every club in every league. The 16 SPL teams for next season would be the top 11 SPL clubs plus 5 promoted from Div 1. The 10 SPL2 teams would be 1 relegated SPL club plus 4 current div 1 clubs plus 5 from Div 2. The 16 team championship would 1 relegated from Div 1 plus remaining Div 2 teams plus all 10 from current div 3. This doesnt fast track Rangers any quicker to the top division so nobody can be blamed for that excuse. All rights reserved by me.

The SPL this year is like a Grand National with one short fence for one team and 20ft high fences for the rest....they will all fall off eventually.

Kwality! Cheers Ian. Andy Gray, cracking host. Felt Davie Cooper could have had a mention plus I thought Laudrup would have been there as the younger generation (under 40?) greatest Ranger.

Good stuff Ian. Those photos were taken pretty much bang on where my old Season ticket was. Right on the goal line. Gough still looks fitter than most players.

Iâ??m not welcome at Ibrox and that breaks my heart

Edu? I thought he transferred his deal over then was let to move to Stoke?? Looking at that list Ive not seen ONE of them make an impact at their new clubs. -
We still need another Trainer though! To help out on the coaching. I always thought his full name should be Jim 'The Puma' Traynor.

Zappa's Rant: SPL Plots Strengthening Itself Whilst Weakening The SFL
Gribz replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
The title of the thread is nail on head straight away!! And its something I hope the SFL can see. If they do then they will realise they are in a stronger position than they may think. However the chairmen of some Div 1 clubs is where I think the SPL will sneak they're way into. Great read Zappa. -
9 times out of 10 Ive agreed with Traynor's views whenever Ive heard it that is. Used to listen his call show on a Sunday morning here and felt he always took a common sense approach, unlike bitter journo's who had an agenda. By doing this he could easily upset diehard fans of every club. But he's a sensible, upfront and honest guy, I think its a good appointment. With Green being outspoken in a great way and taking no punches and now Traynor, we have a good platform for the future. Just thankful John Brown didnt get his hands on the club....he'd never be wise or bold enough to consider an appointment like this.

The grass isnt greener on the other side. Perhaps he is finally maturing plus realises what a let down he was in his days as a Rangers player both on and off the park. He never helped himself with his antics. The personal stuff is understandable, for bricks to go threw his car window inst acceptable and I could see why he's want out then. But he still left the club in the lurch in the summer. He wasnt a vocal one like Whittaker and Naismith who's interview still makes me cringe thinking about it. -
It important SFL dont get sucked in, but change has to be done and Longmuir is right about the numbers (in terms of teams in leagues) isnt a key issue at the moment but a way forward for the 42 clubs is. SFL still must stand their ground and make sure that are involved, if not, running the leagues.

Rangers donate Dundee Utd Gate Receipt Share to Charity
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I think we've been lucky in the cups so far this season that most of the games have been at Ibrox including 2 SPL sides. Now an away game can benefit us by making our statement clear and it couldnt have been a kinder draw IMO. I dont want to see the likes of Dundee Utd, Aberdeen Hibs back at Ibrox yet and getting a huge pay day. -
The beginning of the end to domestic football. UEFA are killing the game by globalising it with the likes of this plus what they have done with the CL and Uefa cup. This idea is just silly. Although I think something deeper is behind this but we wont get into that.

Where do We Draw the Line & When Does it Come to an End?
Gribz replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
I dont want a sorry. Id rather an admission of the wrong decisions against us and overturning them i.e. the transfer embargo / give up on the attempting of title stripping -
Yeah. was about to add I'll be gutted if the SFL dont come out as the lead party in Scottish football over the next 12 months. No way can that Doncaster and the SPL be left in charge for another decade of mess.

For me it would have been a one season boycott in the Scottish cup and a full season / round of matches against the SPL clubs who voted us out when we eventually have to play them. Make no mistake our boycott to Tannadice should be about as much a boycott of the SFA as it is to Dundee Utd. But not showing up full stop would have hit the SFA in the pocket with sponsors. The message has to be clear, we wont be kicked by anyone. What happens to the rest of the SPL is non of our concern and just let them be until we are back there. By then who knows what mess they are in but they dug their own mess. -
That s my thoughts they have ran up a 12m debt! They are playing a desperate game and if the SFL clubs fall for it then shame on them. But surely they see that having Rangers in the SFL is as much a money maker as any. Elgin hit the jacketpot due to be playing twice in 1 week, but sillyness cost them a part of it. Queens Park stand to make a fortune if they open most of Hampden up for our fixture. There will be no half decent TV deal without OF derbies. Cant see Sky thinking Livingston v St Johnstone will be attractive.
-
If its on Sky or RTV then open Ibrox up and put it on the big screens, only need to charge a few quid entry and make ourselves some extra money. Very happy once again with Charles Green for not bowing down to this. If we are injury free for this game our strongest XI should be capable of at least getting a draw.
-
Remember being at the Motherwell game, he was unplayable that day. Gabby Amato was one of the most skilful players I saw in a Blue jersey. Remember when Advocaat said Amato would be limited for starts because Mols was coming in, nobody had really heard of Mols.
-
It could be said we should be boycotting the Scottish Cup never mind going to Tannadice. A one off boycott is a fine statement. It wont happen though, McCoist wants a cup run and therefore will want 4000 Bears supporting them at Tannadice. It would be the most satisfying win in a long time but if we get a defeat we will look stupid...If Caley beat us 3-0 at Ibrox we could lose heavily.
-
Agree. Dont get me wrong Id love to be watching the Rangers against the likes of DUFC and singing follow follow but a statement has to be made and we couldnt have been drawn a better team to do it IMO. This day was always going to come around and if we give in first time we'll be playing right back into the hands of the SPL. Id open Ibrox up and have the match on the big screens with admission about 2 quid.
-
If we drew a St Johnstone or an inverness id be thinking we would go but this is Dundee Utd, the biggest mouthers during our fallings. Plus as the OP statement says a club who have previous is screwing Rangers fans. Even if its one game, we should refuse tickets straight away.

Theres only one Charlie Green, One Charlie Green....he said no thanks...your a bunch of wanks...walking in a boycott wonderland
