As talented a player Durrant was he just comes across as thick to me and its showing. Does he think things are like it was in the 9IAR era where the strongest personalitites and squad bonding was there? He cant assume all youngsters are the 'laugh a minute confident type'....I know when I was 17 or 18 I could be a quiet person and often gave too much respect to elders. This can have an effect on self confidence. Instead of coming out with such comments, and Ally has done recently also, why dont they get on a man management course and realise humans are individuals. Some will react to a rollicking and some will react with a private word or arm around the shoulder. Handling inner pressure is within everyone of us, its just about finding it and sometimes you need a morale boost from someone / somewhere to bring it out of you.

We started playing the best football under PLG since Advocaat, yet while we got a few poor results and dropped behind Celtic you could clearly see what PLG was trying to do throughout the team, compare that to today and we are getting poor results, performances with no picture at all of what AM is trying to do.
-
And even that role is beginning to make him look silly with some recent comments. Im with the agreement he deserves to stay until the end of this season to get part 1 (out of Div 3) done, or in his own words "over the line". Terrific striker, terrific man, forever a legend, but not a coach / manager.

4 or 5 players in the team I wouldnt recognise if they bought me a beer. All time rock bottom Scottish game. National team an embarrassment and havent qualified for a tournament since 98 when the SPL was formed, clubs going into administration, financial struggles, 3 governing bodies trying to make up leagues for a new season which starts in 16 weeks time. Who have Regan and Doncaster been in bed with! They should be sent packing back down south.
-
Another expectation was to have the league wrapped up in march. Its going to slip into April.
-
No to Keegan and a Champions league winner but yes to Calderwood Id put David Icke in goal if he's available! As well as being a man who talks sense he was a decent keeper.

Saying its a missed opportunity is looking long term IMO. But we should be looking at both the now and future, the two are not mutually exclusive. We're not going to spit the dummy out about the Ramsdens cup but we should have strolled that competition. We will probably look back and wonder why we didnt win it. I dont agree with the term you're only as good as your last result. Everton got beat 3-0 by Wigan at home in the cup 2 weeks ago and nobody assumed Everton were a poor team over night. The odd shock or poor result is acceptable in football.

Ive always thought Kevin Keegan would be an interesting pick. At least 4-5-1 would be binned. Going English or foreign would be appealing. Bobby Di Matteo would be a good shout if he doesnt get a job down south soon.
-
Depends what the standards are. Off the field to come through what we did and have our future secured has to be a success. On the field is a mass missed opportunity which may be seen as a failure in 5 years time. Performances and recent results along with the Ramsden Cup is a failure.

This link has one back since the 2010 World Cup in South Africa when McCoist was commentating and made connections with Honduras. Steve Bruce and Wigan have done well in that market but that is Premier League.

That was going to be my point. He inherited a squad of league winners. What confuses me is when he took charge of cup games under Walter the team looked attack minded yet now they dont. It could relate back to the other point that for those cup games he had a sensible / experienced head like Walter next to him and now his coaching team is lacking in this. Ive said 100 times this season not having a stronger assistant could cost him his managerial future. -
Ally McCoist warns young Rangers players they must improve
Gribz replied to simplythebest's topic in Rangers Chat
Poor man management. He really should be saying these players need to get poorer because some of our young players have good technical ability but arent getting show it in this team. Instead they are playing in a system which is a bit of guess work with high balls. And players are not the same. Some will react in a good way to a bollocking, some will react in a bad way to his public statement, some need an arm round the shoulder to improve. And Ally is the one who has to get them to improve on the training ground. Between the 3 of them (Ally, Durrant, McDowall) I dont see 1 tactician there. -

Agreed again. If we had had a slow start in August with 1 or 2 poor results then get stronger and better as the season went on then Id be ok with it as you can understand having no pre-season and a new squad put together at the last hour. But now these players have had 7 months to work on things and its going backwards which says what is going on at Murray Park isnt working. -
Agreed, spot on. I think the majority of fans realise what the situation was at the start of the season. The expectations are to see a style of football being implemented throughout the squad for the future. Nobody thought we'd go on and win the league cup or Scottish cup, even when we played the SPL teams in the cups everyone seemed to have a sense of realisation after defeat by Caley and Dundee Utd and we were fine with it so long as improvement was in the pipeline. Its not!

Sorry Zappa, I was planning on stepping in on the weekend when it wasnt posted like I did a few weeks ago but by time I got online the game had already kicked off. I will step in if nothing has been posted up by the day of the match for remaining games.

If ever the optimist! The other way to look at it is Stirling were the worst side in Scotland last seasn yet they have managed 1 win and 2 draws out of 4 matches against us this season.
-
When he took Aird off for Argy and didnt move McCulloch upfront even DJ in the commentary was wondering what was going on.
-
Either the players are fatique or Ally has lost the dressing room as he doesnt do any work with them during the week. Like Doc says, thanks for holding the club together but the club needs 3 men who can take us forward as we are slipping fast.
-
I think we're in agreement with you, we are just saying how bad it is. Me and Gav are already at the conclusion that Eck is awful. Laudrup, Ray Wilkins, Kevin Keegan....like you say something different please
-
That has to be the final straw. Cant see how anyone can defend Ally now. Watched the last 20 mins and i'll never get those 20 mins back! What a waste. Stirling looked far more in control and played the better football. What the eff are they doing at Murray park?
-
Certainly been named a few times as a future Rangers manager. Will be good to see how he does there and if he has potential to be future boss. Quite a few ex players in the SPL with Butcher, McCall and Brown also.
-
Shocked to see 0-0 at half time. Thought we'd get a reaction after the recent poor showings. Even if there is changes in the team they are probably just put out on the pitch with no plan or instructions. Has this team been worked with on the training ground so they at least know what to do??
-
East Stirlingshire - out played for 45 mins and down 0-1 at half time. Annan Ath - out played for 90 mins and beaten 1-2. Stirling - 0-0. Bit of a pattern appearing. That has to be the worst run of results ever!
-
Whilst you MIGHT have a point there can you say the same isnt true about the other players in the squad right now about joining for a free ride? Just because they havent been taken for a cheap prank? Do you think Cribari, Argy, Faure, Black and Co are there for the love of Rangers?

It's more than a game - Croatia vs Serbia.
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in General Football Chat
2 really good football sides, who have got themselves up and running since the early 90s. Serbia combined with Montenegro were improving all the time but since that split it seems the latter got stronger as you can see in Englands group. Nice to see the footie chat room being used, seems everything even non Rangers related gets lumped in Rangers chat.
