Certainly been named a few times as a future Rangers manager. Will be good to see how he does there and if he has potential to be future boss. Quite a few ex players in the SPL with Butcher, McCall and Brown also.

Shocked to see 0-0 at half time. Thought we'd get a reaction after the recent poor showings. Even if there is changes in the team they are probably just put out on the pitch with no plan or instructions. Has this team been worked with on the training ground so they at least know what to do??

East Stirlingshire - out played for 45 mins and down 0-1 at half time. Annan Ath - out played for 90 mins and beaten 1-2. Stirling - 0-0. Bit of a pattern appearing. That has to be the worst run of results ever!

Whilst you MIGHT have a point there can you say the same isnt true about the other players in the squad right now about joining for a free ride? Just because they havent been taken for a cheap prank? Do you think Cribari, Argy, Faure, Black and Co are there for the love of Rangers?

It's more than a game - Croatia vs Serbia.

2 really good football sides, who have got themselves up and running since the early 90s. Serbia combined with Montenegro were improving all the time but since that split it seems the latter got stronger as you can see in Englands group. Nice to see the footie chat room being used, seems everything even non Rangers related gets lumped in Rangers chat. -
Feel sorry for the guy after listening to the call. But on the field he has been very poor.
-
How can this be classed as a prank by a celtic fan. This is nothing more than anti-Rangers fan doing this. If they put so much effort into supporting their own team rather than looking to create problems for Rangers they might be happier in life. Sandaza told the guy to do everything Official anyway, he was duped by a foreign voice. He will learn from this.

Unfortunately we cant agree terms with Buffon. Id take a fully fit Gordon over Bell anyday. Gordon on his day is on par with McGregor. If he is struggling with injury then of course we dont look at him.

Ally McCoist: Putting Rangers in second tier would benefit other clubs
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
Halfway through a season would at least gave them time to think. With 6 weeks to go is just taking the piss. It has to be done at the start of a season so everyone knows what they are playing for. -
Had it been any other player id have switched the telly off, to miss the penalty was painful but I actually applauded and said "what a goal".
-
Thats a pity. I thought he had a hand injury and was coaching Dumbarton or the likes until he is fit again.
-
Yeah and Id say that could include a goalkeeper. I dont know much about Cammy Bell but Alexander is 34 / 35. If Craig Gordon can shake off his injury problems Id like to see us go for him as no signing fee would be needed. Just last season he pulled off the best save in Premier League history! If Bocanegra can give us another season like last then he and Wallace are a solid platform to start with.

Always still supported Scotland and never let the SFA into my thoughts for games other than after the match saying they couldnt pick their noses never mind a manager. Walter apart this is the first popular and decent manager we've had since the 90s (I never rated Craig Brown but he did amazing things when you look back on it, but possibly under achieved). So its a fresh start for this Wales game and I'll be up for it. I wouldnt let mindless so called fans of other teams sway my thoughts either, thats them with the problem.

I didnt even know we were playing. So used to not having a game during international week. 3rd division isnt so bad after all, this will be the best international break there has been.
-
Thats a stop gap for me. We need to get a settled defence that can play together else every time we come up against an SPL side we'll get torn apart again. As it stands we dont have the quality at the back and it would be our weakest area which needs to be addressed first. Bocanegra seems the obvious one to bring back and if we are in SPL 2 next season he may fancy that more than where he is.

Ally McCoist: Putting Rangers in second tier would benefit other clubs
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in Rangers Chat
There is no doubt, we have to gain promotion. But so does the Div 2 winners side and (if successful) the play off winners. But is anyone of the opinion that we shouldnt be allowed to leapfrog some Div 2 teams? If I was them then id certainly find that unfair on the Div 2 sides who have to go into the 18 who didnt finish bottom. Thats why it has to be laid out at the start of the season so everyone knows what they are playing for. Either that they have to restructure it 12-20-10 for one season. -
Holy shit, was thinking you were on about Christian Dailly for a minute. Now that one would be a sackable offence for Ally.
-
Some people think we must have a few Steven Gerrards coming through the ranks or have the cash to sign the ability of such players. The likes of Daly far from get me near excited but if we are going to sign a few players with experience to get us back up the leagues then lets have them a) Fit b) have a desire to play for Rangers and c) have ability. Novo would give a lot more to the team than what Ian Black has done. Or should we just let Ally sign more unknowns like Argy, Faure and Cribari and hope for the best.
-
Miller should never have been sold and if was going to be brought back a 3rd time it should have been wrapped up in January 2012 instead of signing Celik and Ortiz. He still had it then back after his move to Canada as Gav says its taken a gear or 2 off him and he isnt the still player. I still think he'd do a job for us though and would be more mobile than McCulloch upfront. Id take him if the deal was right. Id rather Nacho Novo back though. Thats one id be chasing if I was Ally.

If its Queens Park who win the play offs Im sure they will push for promotion as they could get another 2 home games with Rangers giving them that huge pay out again. Im sure the sides going for Play offs in Div 2 wont go for it. They will feel they have a chance of promotion and if they won it they'd feel they deserves to be in a league higher than any current Div 3 club. I never thought of the Dunfermline thing creating an opening for easing up the situation, very convenient! And if Hearts go also and have to start again in the lowest league it solves the problem.
-
I really dont think they can restructure things at this stage in a season, any changes have to be at known at the start of a season. I expect us to be in Div 2 next season and then the 12-12-18 starting 2014/15. Should we win Div 2 next season we are then promoted to the SPL 1. Here lies the next problem which hasnt been discussed not just from Rangers point of view. If they somehow manage to get this 12-12-18 through and in place for next season it has to be transparent all the way. The team who finishes top of Div 2 this season also has to gain promotion. Now what league would they go into? How about the teams in the play offs. If Queens Park win the plays off between the 3 sides in Div 3 and the 1 team from Div 2 they should also earn promotion. That is what they have been playing for all season. Same for Div 2 clubs fighting in the play off spots. Therefore there could be 4 sides (lets say 2 auto promoted and 2 play off winners) earning themselves to a higher league than they currently are in (unless they scrap the play offs which is truely unfair). With only 1 dropping out of the SPL and 1 going up from Div 1 that would make the 2nd tier having 14 teams unless they force more relegation spots which current Div 1 teams arent going to vote for. If Rangers go for a legal battle to be promoted then Queen of the South (current Div 2 leaders) and the play off winners must do this also. There is also the scenario of the teams finishing 2nd bottom of Div 1 and 2 winning the play offs. If they do win the play offs they are going to feel they cant be relegated! Absolutely balls up of a situation.

5 managers this season and not out including temp bosses like Eric Black. If it wasnt for those owners and Shebby Singh then there would be big names queing up for the gaff. Shebby Singh is a twat, he used to be on TV here all the time coming out with nonsense. Perfect job for Big Eck now, it wont work out after 40 days then he will move on with not being blamed for another mess.

There goes another job this season for Appleton.

Forum has been down last 3 nights (UK time). Is there upgrading going on?

The first bit I take your point, the club was battered and didnt know where we were playing and didnt have a squad. A slow start was expected. But once we got the squad together there is enough talent in their to avoid performances like Annan where were not a one off by a long stretch. Considering our players are supposed to be full time and working on the training pitch every day together and our opponents probably only meet up one evening in the week to train the gulf in ability hasnt shown. Most on here have said one expectation is to start a new football philosophy as we have a terrific chance of laying foundations for the next few generations. This has been a massive missed opportunity. Throwing the cheque book (when its allowed to come out) at the problems on the pitch papers over the cracks. There has been no plan put in place for when we get back to the top. All I can see is we are going to have players who are equivalent to the majority of SPL sides meaning we wont be any better than them. The eventual signings of decent standard will be the difference between 2nd place and 3rd place. I wasnt bothered about any cups this season, my expectations was to concentrate at going up the leagues but playing in a nice way. Any cup run was a bonus. If anything the players, especially the SPL guys, should have more motivation than ever. It would be the managements job to install this and not let them forget the situation the club is in. If they want to play for a Rangers jersey in 2-3 years time when we are on the way back then they should show the motivation when it counts i.e now. If they are still earning SPL standard money and living the lifestyle then how they cant be motivated is beyond me. TBH from the fans point of view, how many was motivated for a match against Kilmarnock or St Mirren when we were in the SPL? I said this last season and at the start of this season. But it looks like he cant even get basics correct. If we were seeing things on the park which could click eventually (like what Liverpool fans are seeing this season) then yes you would be right here. But go back 18 months and with a strong squad which had won the league he was getting knocked out by 2 european sides I can barely remember (Maribor was it?). If Ally is to stay on I just hope he strengthens up his management team with some experience, that could be the key to him making himself a success. I see your point RE Ferguson, but everyone inside Old Trafford like Bobby Charlton has always said they saw the long term plan being put in place. Also Ferguson had done amazing things with Aberdeen so probably deserved more of a chance.
