They meant to lose. 2 home games with Rangers all of a sudden makes their christmas's come all at once.

If we were an SPL side id still expect Ally to make this type of signing. I hope he does well but this is Gordon Petric No.2 What are we going to do when we get promoted back to the SPL with run of the mill players?

Gazza - I dropped £5,000 a week but it was worth it to sign for Walter

When Alan Shearer signed for Newcastle he said there is no better time to be a footballer....Nae luck Alan, you'd be on 150k a week if you were 10 years younger. -
Im with you on that mate. How many games next season do you think McCulloch will partner Daly at the back? Only because Allys other signings have been poor.

Play-Offs: Who will Ally & co. cross swords with next season?

So we are playing East Fife next season then.... -
Sack the manager! This game cost me my coupon

A front 3 of Miller, Clark and Little would be interesting. Daly has to be signed as a defender. Delahunt is a ham

Bill McMurdo says: Imran And King Doing A Deal
Gribz replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
Im with you. Not been reading much or posting in the off field stuff as Im absolutely in the dark and confused as to WTF is going on. There seems to be a witchhunt and dirty tactics throughout. I feel fan power is going to be the saviour of the club again. -
EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL: Benfica v Chelsea
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in General Football Chat
Not quite. I agree with the league titles were pretty much bought. But Chelsea were still picking up cups before Abramovic. They won the FA cup in 97 and 2000 plus the cup winners cup 1998. I dislike Chelsea but they were always a step up from the other 3 London clubs you mention. -

Has to be Div 3, the difference being they might not get out of it. -
More Than £1,500 To Take a Banner into Wembley
Gribz replied to ian1964's topic in General Football Chat
I thought it was going to be a banner the size of half a stand or something, thats nothing. Wembley wanted to charge Bradford fans for a flag remembering those who died in the stadium fire but as they went public Wembley dropped the fines. Fans should just boycott the match and hit Wembley in the pocket. -
An area we need to strengthen is on the training ground in the coaching department. Can we get a good addition in there also?

TBH id be more worried about Allys tactics against any SPL side if we draw them in the cup. Our strongest XI as it stands should be good enough to at least compete with the other 11 SPL teams. I see the cups as a bonus again this season. We are still handicapped in that we can only sign out of contract players and this is our actual first FULL season which includes a pre-season, so once again promotion and laying a foundation is the priorities. Ramsden Cup should be taken a bit more seriously this season seen as its the 1 cup we dont have in the trophy room. We'll get plenty more Scottish and League cups in the future again.

EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL: Benfica v Chelsea
Gribz replied to 54andcounting's topic in General Football Chat
I would say thanks to 54andcounting but that USA keeper is a bloke! I watched the 2nd half, after a boring tournament it picked up in the quarter finals and from then on it was interesting. UEFA need to sort it out and have less teams in it to make it interesting all the way through again. Less teams into the CL from the so called big countries would sort that out. But again money rules. I like Benitez, he's a proven manager and next season its someone else's gain and Chelsea's loss. I think he'd run them close to the title if he was given the chance, however Mourinho will probably do the same. I was just thinking that in the season since Arsenal last won a trophy (FA cup 2005) Chelsea have won 3 titles (incl 2005), 3 FA cups, 1 Champions League and 1 Europa cup. That says a lot! -
Dundee must be praying for Hearts to go into Admin before the final game so they stay up. It would be quite ironic if they appealled this after the season and the team 2nd in Div 1 get Hearts spot next season considering Dundee took Dunfermlines place last year. But its shambles no.325 this season. The SPL has gone beyond amatuer and I cant work out how they are not embarrassed. A Celtic (Keltic) league as Calscot suggests (cant see England wanting a merger) isnt a bad idea at this stage, somethuing has to be done to generate interest. What I like about the Singapore league is they have 11 professional teams (albeit it not a good standard) and every year they invite a team from somewhere in the world to join for 1 season which opens doors. Scottish football has to look at going outside the country IMO.

Those names make a change to Robbie Fowler and Alan Smith. Its amazing that Clark is the one that fills me with most optimism yet he has played at the lowest levels. I think its purely based on what he can do at this level and he's a youngster which is not much of a risk. When we get to the SPL and he cant perform at that level then so be it.
-
I didnt realise he stayed for a full year but didnt play, thats surprising. Hemdani was a player I liked and rated. I felt him and Ferguson didnt click in the same time as Ferguson was too busy tackling him for 'ma baw'.

I agree, we only need to add a few in to get through this season and strengthen the defence. Likes of Nicky Clark is a good signing as its a no risk. Bell is a potentially good signing. But I dont like signing average SPL players for the sake of a squad if they arent going to put us in a good position in 2 years time when we are top flight. Id imagine the likes of Law and Daly would be on minimum 3 years deals so by the time we are an SPL side again we'll have the likes of them, Shiels, Black etc non of which has worked out well so far and the dont fill me with confidence that they would put us in a strong SPL position. This is why Id prefer to play the younger guys again this season mixed with experienced pro's like McCulloch etc and bring in players like Novo who could do the job. We will be able to attract a higher standard of player when the embargo is lifted and we are in Div 1 as players will know they are less than 12 months from being in the top flight again. Unless we have a better coaching team who could bring the likes of Law and Daly in and improve them and gel them into a team that is playing good football then what is the point. Ally just seems to buy the players then it doesnt look like he is working with them. Even Kyle Hutton has went backwards this season. For me the long term plan and focus has lacked ambition. I get the point we didnt have much of a squad at the start of 2012-13 and no pre-season - so I applaud the players who were there - but overall there was a decline in our play when it should have been the opposite. Players should have gotten to know each other and started to have a better understanding. If we get a couple of signings in and start off great next season it will be papering over the cracks. People will think we have a good team all over a sudden but this will be on the back of players being 'up for' the new season and want to make a point. But there should have been a football philosophy laid down from last season. Its not too late to start it this year and have 2 years at it in Div 2 and 1.

Some quality players in that team but it was too flat. 5-4-1 or 4-5-1 with only 1 striker. Plus the 4 midfielders were all central players (Hemdani, Ferguson, Thompson and Davis), we needed more width. Id have rather seen us go for it more and still lose. Just wonder had Cousin not been a clown getting sent off in against Fiorentina would he have made a difference.

only 4 mins of stoppage time and this was 97th min. Why did Leciester have so many players up the park, they seemed to have a lot running back for Watfords break. All they needed was 2 or 3 players up for the pen.

Folks flew in from UK at 4pm, quickly dropped them at my place then headed to Rangers supporters bar. Kick off wasnt until 3am so had to pace ourselves. Bar was full but not overcrowded plus mainly expat couples so a great atmosphere. Plenty barmaids serving drinks to hand rather than queing plus a good lay on of snacks. Game was a let down but still a great occasion.
