  1. The other way to look at a Non Ex Director is as an adviser to the company. Most of these positions are taking by people who dont need or want a salary as they often have many other invested interests. It is usually voluntarily (if invited) or offered as a role of appreciation for a previous work for that company.
  2. Brendan Rogers will become the 5th longest serving manager in Premier League and hasnt been in the job 1 year. I cant see Man City and Stoke improving under their appointments. Hughes is more negative than Pulis was. If Chelsea appoint Mourinho they will go back to defensive boring football. Martinez would be a decent shout for Everton but still think they could do better, should have pulled out all the stops for Laudrup. Who else?
  3. All I'll say about Wilson is that he fits into the same catergory as Cuellar, Bougherra and a few others....played a stormer next to mentor Weir. Without the mentor none were ever to reach that levels again. Weir got the best out of all of them. To bring this back into the line of thread Id love Weir to be a signing this summer - as coach. Depending on what happens at Goodison its a possibility. If Martinez comes in with his own staff then Weir and others may be looking for coaching jobs elsewhere.
  4. Sheff Wed are sleeping giants. This would / will be a great day out for Bears. Sheffield totty:blokes ratio is supposed to be 4:1. If going by what Nottingham is then its right.
  5. Im all for this even for the short term. He is exact what we need at the top just now. A chairman is in everyone, how do first time chairmans get their position?! Im 100% sure he will have the right backing and guidance before making decisions.
  6. Really cant see AM changing his formation. I used to love 3-5-2 but prefer 4-3-3 these days. For 3 at the back it has to be 3 centre halfs, yet Wallace should be one of the first names on the team sheet with 4 at the back.
  7. Im struggling to think of more than 2 decent games at the New Wembley so far. The old Wembley produced great games. Hodgson getting pelters for playing 4-4-2. Still think England will spank Scotland in the August friendly.
  8. How are Hearts managing to sign players. Danny Wilson was signed on a permanent this week. Where is the cash coming from.
  9. I thought Peralta was a central midfielder also. That is a fair number of players. After being down to the bare bones last season you'd think there would have to be replacements for those who were regulars. Hutton and Black had poor performances last season but I wonder if it was because that they'd couldnt play together. All 3 of Black, Hutton and Shiels were disappointments. I thought Black was a promising signing who would stroll Div 3. I rated Hutton when he burst on the seen with Jamie Ness but struggled last season. And again I thought Shiels would provide a bit of sparkle but didnt although unlucky with injuries.
  10. TBH I always thought in a 4 man midfield you need both types to make that work. The old McCall / Gascoigne partnership worked and Ince / Gascoigne for England in Euro 96 was perfect. Of course it helps when you have other quality but the main thing is to play players in their best positions all over the park then formations should pick itself.
  11. Need a footballing thread. Now with Bell, Daly, Law and Clark signed we have more depth in the squad when everyone is fit. Another addition in defence wouldnt go a miss though and a midfielder is likely to be added. I know we cant afford Bocanegra's wages but if we cant offload him he may as well play. McCoist will have a lot of dilema's: Is Alexander staying on? If yes does he remain No.1 or does Bell come in straight away? Where will Daly play? How many trialist can we play before sept 1st? What formation will he go for? Stick with 4-4-2 at home and 4-5-1 away or go more attacking 4-3-3 With those things aside and its still early days but the following so far should have more than enough in most games. I know Boca is unlikely but if he could take a drop in wages then he'd be welcomed back into the team. Although I am still not convinced with the centre of midfield as I dont know anything about Law and MacLean is named as Hutton and Black were awful last season. _______________Bell_______________ Argy______Daly______Boca_____Wallace McKay_____Law_____MacLeod____Templeton __________Little_____Clark____________ Cribari, Hegarty, Perry, Cole and Faure are all further options at the back. Black, Hutton and Shiels - the experienced 3 are going to have to fight for their places. This could be a good thing. McCulloch was a big player last season but should we be looking at a new younger front line. Hemmings just doesnt seem to either get a chance or grab a chance. Other youngsters such as Naismith, Crawford and Aird will all play their part and be involved at stages.
  12. Im pretty sure even if Ally was planning on leaving he'd still try to give his all for the team and sign players where possible now. Sky bet have a few decent names but more ridiculous names as our next Permanent manager. Billy Reid 11/4 fav B Laudrup 7/2 Stuart McCall 5/1 Terry Butcher 8/1 Billy Davies 11/1 Neil Warnock 14/1 Alex McLeish 18/1 Walter Smith 20/1 Brian McDermott 25/1 Nigel Spackman 25/1 Kenny McDowall 33/1 Kenny Shiels 33/1 Richard Gough 33/1 All these 50/1 - Barry Ferguson, Frank De Boer, Paulo Di Canio, Steve Lomas, Stuart Pearce, Jim Duffy, Derek McInnes, Steven Pressley, Owen Coyle, Jim Jefferies, Mark Hughes, Nigel Atkins Alex Ferguson 66/1 Roy Keane, Steve Kean and Neil Lennon 66/1 - who makes these up! Jose Mourinho 100/1
  13. A day to wash your car folks.
  14. Im 100 quid down. 2 years in a row ive backed the runners up. 100 quid on Hibs today. surely.
  15. Laudrup to his right, McCoist in the middle....he's not gonna need any of them..... Wee Craig Broon jumps in haha - what a goal. He did the same the following week... Albertz is a Mercedes
  16. This is one of the best videos Ive seen. Listen to the roar on 9 mins And it was one of the best goals Ive ever seen...Im still cheering now.
  17. Just been watching a few clips of the Hammer. Amazing player. Well up there with my all time favourites. German efficiency.
  18. This is the way mate. Agree fully. Stay away from those theives. The only show in town.
  19. It would be a money spinner and Sky would be up for it meaning we'd get a fair whack. But cant see it ever being possible for 3 English sides coming. They'd take big crowds. Best bet for an Ibrox tournament would be AC Milan, Hamburg and Arsenal / Chelsea.
  20. Get all 3 teams up for an Ibrox tournament!
  21. There are no rules. Its make the decision as and when to suit.
  22. I was never convinced by Whyte at the time but was taken in by Green. However until all investigations are done (if thats possible) then Im going to reserve comments on him. Despite the internal antics he did still speak out well for the club. I did always have a feeling he was more of a spokesperson for someone though. I think damage has been done to the extent any new man is going to give the fans doubt unless its someone on par with WS whom we all know and trust. But is he a CEO? I think with the right people around them anyone his the capabilites to be that even in the short term. We've taken a triple whammy. By those owning us, the media and those running the game....yet we are still coming back.
