  1. Yes Porrini wasn't a mention to be a world class player but just stating he was a CL winner. Same as Boli for me - scored the winner one season in the CL but not world class. But Kanchelskis at Man Utd was, not sure how that could be classed as bizarre. Same as Hateley, absolute top notch striker in his day.
  2. Mols destroying Motherwell scoring all 4 goals at Ibrox not long after he signed. I wondered why Advocaat was letting Amato go as I thought he was silky enough but Mols was an absolute gem unearthed.
  3. Charbonnier was a world cup winner when he joined but not as nearly as good as Goram or Klos (and even Niemi). So it puts that question again of what is World Class, do you go by medals? And is it fair to not class someone due to the league they are? You can have a list of players who were World Class in their overall career and those who were World Class at Rangers. The De Boer's being the most obvious example as Frank was world class before joining yet Ronald was world class while at Rangers. Two names who Id add who were world class IMO and havent been mentioned: Andrei Kanchelskis (more so at Man Utd) and Mark Hateley. EDIT - Wasn't Sergio Porrini another CL winner with Juventus?
  4. Good for us this time. If there was anything ridding on the game for Scotland Id want the best team available and Wallace would start, but there we are only playing for places in the group.
  5. That's interesting. Perhaps he needs an arm around the shoulder to give him some confidence but his old man should have drilled into him what its like. Of course Durrants comments a few months ago don't help when he said something along the lines of players shouldn't be there if they cant adapt. Whilst he has a point there is a way of making players feel more confident. But if your assistant manager is coming out with that and offering no support it can make players feel intimidated with their surroundings.
  6. I stated he was turning out to be the next Alan Gow because he joined as promising yet hasn't had a chance to show anything. My second sentence was to suggest there is absolutely nothing to state why he couldn't do a job for us given he would have even more resources and playing with better players.
  7. Well rather than a reply with no argument what so ever, how about explaining why you think this is utter shite?
  8. I think the international should be longer and cram 3 or 4 games into that fortnight. a) the domestic leagues don't get start / stop feel about them 3 weeks into the new season. b) international teams would benefit for being together longer, managers wouldn't have the same excuses abut seeing players for short times. c) it would be less mid season breaks from domestic leagues. d) it would make the groups more interesting for fans and almost be like mini tournaments except they would be competitive. e) after them we could just crack on the club football for longer. In mid November there is another break for the World cup plays off despite this not involving the majority of countries, therefore a meaningless friendly will be thrown in.
  9. They are getting worse. Probably because most of the qualifiers at the moment are settled.
  10. Sounds like the new Alan Gow at the moment. I cant work out why he would struggle to make a step down from League 1 to League 1 despite having better resources.
  11. The only issue in bringing him back could be if Weir and family would uproot from the Merseyside area. They were settled there even when he was playing and Id imagine they stayed there while he worked in Sheffield as its not a massive drive to there. TBH I didn't see him as a manager straight away, and the Sheff Utd job which is a tough one! They demand being top of that league and they have been unsettled for years with changing manager a lot. I hope Stuart McCall doesn't take it but he'll be a favourite. I more see DW as an assistant or coach. Would be a scoop for us in that department.
  12. If Ally was due him a call then its pretty poor he didn't make it considering Novo is a hero and had a desire to play for the club. Obviously there isn't a devine right to sign him but Novo believes he was due a call. All the best to him, I hope he bangs in goals. I thought he could have done a job for us on the right wing as an impact sub kind of player. I think Id rather had Novo on a short term deal than Kenny Miller.
  13. Fantastic player and would be a marvellous coach but I didn't see him as a manager so quickly. Sheff Utd is a tough job, they should bee top of that league. It was a hard one for Davie to start off with. Ally - bring him in as a coach!!!
  14. And on the other hand it gives us an extra day to prepare for the Dunfermline match - obviously something that's needed considering we postponed the original date!
  15. If it was in bad condition and used for 12 years Im surprised it hasn't been re-laid by now. However unless there is going to be an influx of plastic pitches at high level then I wouldn't have put this down as a priority. Surely we are still good enough to get out of the leagues without needing to practice on these pitches for a handful of games.
  16. When you take the first 3 of those into consideration and add 'Their income' then Newcastle are one of the biggest underachievers in England. They have been on the brink of challenging a few times and have showed their potential to do so but keep shooting themselves in the foot.
  17. I think a Friday night game at Ibrox makes it more appealing for those going with a few beers before the game.
  18. The forgotten silent man! Id still like to know what exactly he does at RFC and what he intends to do. Good and correct approach from Bossy. Time cant be turned back but answers to what happens with losing 1million per month has to be addressed.
  19. Hoofing win for West Ham on the weekend. To go to Spurs and won 3-0 is a scoop for any team! Top of the table set up nicely.
  20. Centre half is a problem with McCulloch there for me. Might be going through a decent spell but isn't a centre half. Like you say, Id also be put Templeton out there at the moment.
  21. OOOooompffff and there's a ball is it.... The voice of Scottish football for me! Always loved his commentary. All the best Archie.
  22. I disagree, I don't even know who Stockbridge is, never mind allowing him a 200k bonus for footballing reasons while being a dark suit in the background.
  23. The 'big team' did enter in the 3rd round! Us! But I also thought the rest entered at this round. But I'll take a home tie all day long and that should see us into the 4th round when the SPL teams come in. Cant ask for anything more than a home tie, Airdrie will be delighted, 4 league fixtures against us plus a share of a cup tie. Like Zappa said, a non-league side would have been good.
  24. Unfair on Lovenkrands IMO. Lovenkrands did FAR more for Rangers than Lafferty could dream off. Ok, PL had a few off games at times but he was a big time player and performed a lot against Celtic and in Europe. He was never a problem off the park either. Lafferty never showed flashes of great potential, he was just so poor most of the time than when he played half decent it made him look better.
  25. Where is the star Lafferty these days? Another who is now unheard of after his Ibrox departure.
