  1. OOOooompffff and there's a ball is it.... The voice of Scottish football for me! Always loved his commentary. All the best Archie.
  2. I disagree, I don't even know who Stockbridge is, never mind allowing him a 200k bonus for footballing reasons while being a dark suit in the background.
  3. The 'big team' did enter in the 3rd round! Us! But I also thought the rest entered at this round. But I'll take a home tie all day long and that should see us into the 4th round when the SPL teams come in. Cant ask for anything more than a home tie, Airdrie will be delighted, 4 league fixtures against us plus a share of a cup tie. Like Zappa said, a non-league side would have been good.
  4. Unfair on Lovenkrands IMO. Lovenkrands did FAR more for Rangers than Lafferty could dream off. Ok, PL had a few off games at times but he was a big time player and performed a lot against Celtic and in Europe. He was never a problem off the park either. Lafferty never showed flashes of great potential, he was just so poor most of the time than when he played half decent it made him look better.
  5. Where is the star Lafferty these days? Another who is now unheard of after his Ibrox departure.
  6. Albertz was mainly remembered for a ninja-hard shot but when you look back at the Hammer's goals you can see he was a scorer off all types also. Solo's, free-kicks, tap-ins, blasts....and he was consistent.
  7. Well done Ally, but you should be winning at least 5 of these this season.
  8. Shafted left, right and centre. Must admit Ive stopped reading since Green disappeared first time round and have no idea who to consider trusting other than Super Ally. This goes for potential investors also.
  9. Who's been up all night working that one out? From afar the off field stuff has been confusing and misleading me for a while now but the bonuses paid to Mather and Stockbridge is pretty easy to suss and has done nothing but anger me. I just didn't trust Mather from day one and Ive never even seen Stockbridge.
  10. I did think Baresi but couldn't remember who he partnered, even though I remember Costacorta well. They did come to mind when thinking about good Rangers centre half partnerships.
  11. He'd be one to keep him on IMO. Loyal, decent player, goalscorer, can play wide....
  12. Even the top partnerships will make 1 or 2 errors but there has been a few near perfects in football. Adams and Bould. Campbell and Toure (invincibles) . Bruce and Pallister. Ferdinand and Vidic (2 seasons ago). Terry and Carvalho. Miller and McLeish. Nesta and Maldini. Its a shame Moore didn't play next to Gough.
  13. Agree with Zappa, at least give them a try. McCulloch will be another 2 years older when we get back to the SPL so will be even slower and surely wont have a place in the team then unless its upfront.
  14. We were awful in any European game for 2 seasons (95-97) when we shouldn't have been. Walter played 5-3-2 or 3-5-2 in these games with Craig Moore in midfield.
  15. Watching Bayern and Arsenal this week play some top football got me thinking who is the best side I have seen AT a game. Obviously we've all seen the best sides on TV but who were the best at an actual match. I think the best side I can recall was Valencia in 1999-2000 at Ibrox. That era we played Parma, Bayern and PSV off the park at Ibrox but Valencia was a different class. They went onto the CL final that season and the following year plus won La Liga.
  16. Bayern have been the best around for 2 full seasons and are carrying it into a 3rd. How they lost that CL final to Chelsea was beyond belief. But as a great team they came back and won it last season. They will take some stopping this season.
  17. Biased and negative? Would these be wrong?? We could say some were biased towards him. If you take Ferguson as a whole then he was a cracking but in different player. In his spell 1999-2003 he was brilliant, an absolute intergral part of the team. After that....it was all about him on occasions when it shouldn't have been....that alone says a lot. He ruined the team on many occasions.
  18. I don't know what he is doing admitting he wants to change things, why would you change it when they are the champions. It shows how good Sir Alex was, he was like a 12th man. Looking back at the great Liverpool team in the 70s and 80s, they only failed to finish outside the top 2 once in 18 years and won most leagues along with cups domestic and in Europe. The difference was that team had a change of manager 4 times yet was still successful with a change (Shankly, Paisley, Fagan, Dalglish). I know its early to judge Man Utd and Moyes but they don't look good.
  19. Shocking results for the Manchester clubs
  20. Just as I type that, Chelsea turn it up and score and now look the better team
  21. 1st half started ok but 2nd half has been a cracking game. Tottenham just look the stronger side and could be the real deal this season. Great comment saw earlier: 'they sold Elvis and bought the Beatles'. Sums it up nicely bout selling Bale and buying those players in the summer.
  22. I will go 3-0. Stenhousemuir might turn out to be our toughest opposition in the league so far this season though as they are going well in the league.
  23. Really looking forward to this game. Don't have much like for either side is one reason. I think it will be the best game of the season so far, you always get a good atmosphere at White Hart Lane and with a tight ground the game is usually quick pace. Going for 2-1 Spurs. Swansea v Arsenal later should also be a good footballing game, 1-2 Arsenal.
  24. There is no way halfing costs would double attendances but I'm sure they would rise
  25. What about the training schedule Barry? We're you ok with that? And did you wise up before the Scotland booze scandal? no.... Regardless of how much we all want Rangers to win, he went against the manager who may have been building things...right or wrong, he should have respected his manager and he proved he couldn't. How is a new era going to be build when its fighting against an old one. Sorry Barry, I don't buy it....we all want Rangers to win but not your style. You hit the nail on the head when you mentioned John Brown, and we have all seen how embarrassing he is. Imagine Frank Lampard coming out with something like this Pickled Onion Crisps
