  1. This crossed my mind also as to whether the celebrations were a bit OTT. I certainly get it from the fans and players point of view that we progressed and won a shoot out. I didnt mind it but it was an observation I thought of. But we did a great job in the first leg and could have been out of sight with a 3 or 4 goal advantage.
  2. Celtic 1-1 Rangers FGS Tavernier
  3. Jose was always going to dig deep and get a performance out of his team. As soon as Cerny had the ball he had 3 players on him straight away which prevented us creating more. As for being terrible - I suppose you may have a point (without putting a downer on going through) that we have to remember that is 4 home defeats in a row and that needs to be addressed. Im not sure when that last happened.
  4. Yeah I suppose we can use the Quarter second leg to get use to the stadium for the final 👍
  5. Just like Man Utd its a stone throw from the current stadium which is good to keep it central. They have to do it as they cant build St James' anymore which is a shame as I love those huge stands. Ive been to St James' a couple of times, last in 2008 - I was on a stag weekend and the rest went paint balling and I thought Im not doing that nonsense so went to see a Blackburn game instead - and they went down that season. I sitting up near the back row of the Milburn stand and there was a great view and plenty leg room. First time was around 1990/91 for a West Ham game when it was terracing behind both the goals, we didnt get away tickets so went into the old terraced Gallowgate and it was rocking then.
  6. I missed the first half but thought the when we made the changes just before their 2nd goal we looked more like the side to pinch it. The second goal could have been stopped on the line. I think Hagi should have come on earlier instead of Bajrami who was poor. We did the hard part in the first leg with a win and we should have been out of sight. Our penalties bar Hagi were good and Butland's second save was outstanding - Im delighted for him after coming under some criticism. Going through is all that matters and we have another quarter final - Im not sure if Bilbao is the better tie than Roma as they will be wanting to reach the final on their home patch but its a winnable game.
  7. I think Real Madrid's percentages are a bit low, they have to be favourites against Arsenal. Since PSG knocked out Liverpool they have become all the media's favourites all of a sudden. Whilst they look a better team than they have had in the past I still dont have them as winners and I think Unai Emery could produce a masterclass to knock them out.
  8. Yeah Inter or Dortmund would be good to see if Villa dont win it. Although I would like to see Mbappe's face if PSG won. I said Barca would win it at the start of the competition and think they will get to the final at least.
  9. The fact Fenerbahce have to come out and attack may be an advantage to hit on them on the counter so the team selection will be interesting to see if Barry pulls another trick out of the hat. The 3rd goal was massive in the first leg and deserved and thats what I think gets us through in the tie but we may still lose on the night by a goal.
  10. Well done the Villa and Unai Emery - quarter finals of the CL is a great achievement. I fancy them against PSG. Asensio is allowed to play against his parent club. Havent seen the disallowed penalty yet for Atletico, you wonder if it would have been raised if it was a Real player though. A good quarter final line up. Arsenal v Real Madrid PSG v Aston Villa Dortmund v Barcelona Inter v Bayern Munich
  11. Burnley held by West Brom, Sunderland held by Preston and Sheff Utd held by Bristol City - all at home. Leeds couldnt have wished for much better than that.
  12. Now that was a game worth getting up for. It doesnt matter how much FIFA put into a club world cup, the Champions League is and always should be the top competition. Fair play to PSG, they were good again and I thought Liverpool would run over them. Well done to the PSG owners for trusting Luis Enrique who are now clearly a proper "team". Bayern Munich showed their European pedigree in the all German clash. Inter v Bayern in the Quarters is a good clash. Should be another good night later, Im hoping Villa do the business and Atletico come through the Madrid Derby.
  13. The new stadium site is adjacent to Old Trafford so they will continue to play at the current stadium during the construction
  14. Have you seen the artists impression? A very expensive Tent.
  15. Rangers 1-2 Fenerbahce FGS Tavernier
  16. Cant believe I got up to watch that last night, another terrible game. It might have been better if West Ham didnt miss that sitter in the first minute. Im not sure what difference Potter has to Moyes and Lopetegui - same players walk into the team like Soucek and Ward Prowse who have no creativity at all. Another 3 points for Newcastle though and they are right in the Champions League mix.
  17. They might win on the night but to turn around a 3-0 scoreline is a mammoth task. I think all 4 ties tonight are as good as done. Barca should overcome Benfica at home, same with Inter over Feyenoord and Liverpool are always good at home in Europe.
  18. Two clubs who have had as low crowds in the top flight as you get. Throw in Livingston's plastic pitch then I'm glad they are not in the Premier League anymore. St Johnstone through and they get Celtic in the Semi Final. It means Aberdeen v Hearts is a good fixture. Both games should be at Easter Road though.
  19. It has been quite a boring weekend of football, the games down south had nothing about them and no league matches north of the border. But that time off is massive for preparation for a huge 3 days coming up starting on Thursday night where we have a professional job to do to knock Jose out which would be a scalp. Then its over to Parkhead on Sunday where we want to put in a performance there.
  20. He is arguable Arsenal's best natural left back, streets ahead of Zinchenko. Calafiori and Timber are good players but play in multiple positions. It is good business for Celtic but as much as I dont wish players injuries he misses a lot of games so may not feature that much.
  21. The top of this league has been blown wide open with the top 3 separated by 2 points after Leeds lost at Portsmouth. The play offs have 6 teams going for 2 places. Middlesboro and Blackburn hit bad form but Lampard has won 8 out of his 9 games and propelled Coventry into 5th.
  22. Another trophy-less season for Arsenal unless they win the Champions League.
  23. First half of Tottenham v Bournemouth is another complete bore fest but Tavernier's brother just broke the deadlock with a cracking goal right on half time.
  24. Seems to happen with frustrating players and there is nothing more frustrating than sitters being missed. But his all round game has never been bad plus the sitter misses have dried up. He is also a likeable guy / player. And the other plus point is his injury record is good.
  25. The Scottish Cup is the same as the FA Cup, being played over 4 days. Its the Quarter finals just blast them on the weekend. Hearts and Aberdeen seem to be making regular trips to Hampden, it would be nice if Hibs could pull of a shock today and join them.
