Lee McCulloch feels his team could be on the verge of a special season
Gribz replied to SteveC's topic in Rangers Chat
The league is in the bag, we should win the Ramsdens, but its the Scottish Cup that should give the players fire in their belly now until the end of the season. Its something to play for and every player should raise their game now by 20%. Its certainly winnable. I personally didn't expect to even reach a Scottish cup final for a good few years yet but after last weekend there is a carrot dangling there for the team. But one game at a time, need to do the job against Albion then look forward to a semi at Ibrox. -
Peralta facing club v country dilemma if we reach Scottish Cup Final
Gribz replied to Zappa's topic in Rangers Chat
Im looking forward to seeing Peralta in the world cup to see what kind of player he is. So far Ive seen him in 1 match this season and didn't realise he was playing but he was on the right wing. -
Its a game that Man Utd aren't expected to win so I think that will play into their hands. They will have Mata, Rooney and Van Persie playing plus possibly Januzai so there is certainly goals in Man Utd. Arsenal will no doubt have all the possession early on but if they don't make goal scoring chance from it then I can see Utd winning. Huge game for the likes of Ozil, Wilshire and Giroud who have been quiet of late. They all need a performance. Wilshire needs to start calming down. He has talent but not for the first time this season on Saturday he was throwing the toys out of the pram when he lost the ball.

It sounds like a dream world cup to play it in the most successful country on the planet but like SC says they should have been ready. But FIFA should have stepped in 2 years ago. The host nation should be ready for the tournament 18 months before it starts so they could have a plan B in place. If they switch it now where would it go and how could you prepare in 3 months. The issues with stadia not being ready, stadia having structure accidents and worker deaths plus the mass rioting means it has to be in doubt. I am in agreement with the people of Brazil though. To build new hospitals for FIFA delegates, players and staff is disgusting when this should be on offer to their own people first. Some might say they will get the benefits after the tournament but a) the fact they built them for fat cats before the people isn't right and b) Brazil has a population of near 200 million therefore only a fraction of people will benefit. Where would they move it to though? I would say the best option would have to be USA. There would be more riots if they moved it!

I was thinking about that this morning, if we could provide the accounts it would be interesting. A wee run in the Europa cup would be wonders for progression long term. Bit of a pipe dream at the moment but certainly not impossible.
-
Twisted Celtic fans couldn't find it in their mind to look at it in the way that IF the draw had been fixed in favour of Rangers its for finance reasons with a big crowd in the semi and possibly final, with sponsors and TV companies all over it due to the story it would make.
-
I didn't even consider winning the Scottish Cup this season, a good run to the quarters was decent for me but now after that round of games plus the draw I think the cup is there for the taking and Ive gone from any game being a bonus to believing we can lift the cup now. There isn't a team in it who has a better squad IMO. The only worry is we aren't playing full time and top flight opposition week in week out so coming up against Inverness, Dundee Utd or Aberdeen may catch the players out on the day. But lets get past Albion first then see who else is left in it, like someone mentioned earlier I think Dumbarton is a potential upset. The other bonus is our fans wont be making any trips to Pittodrie or Tannadice.

Im with Gav, I see Man Utd going their and winning even with their poor side and manager. Arsenal will play into there hands and Utd will hit them on the counter and score. Arsenal have been consistent this year against the rest of the league but they still don't seem capable of winning against the top sides (by that I mean last seasons top 3 - City, Chelsea, Utd).

Ally McCoist: I'd have bet on Ibrox not being picked for League Cup final
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
David Pleat on TV now Co-commentating Spurs v Everton just said "Naismith is doing well, one of the few Scots who has come down to England and done well, he is a former Hibernian player".- 90 replies

Couldn't ask for better than that! Home tie first and foremost and avoid the SPL clubs again especially Aberdeen and their fan obsession with us. Getting SPL sides in the semi's and final would be inevitable but to get to the quarters and have this draw is ideal.

I don't think there has been a poor level of support at all. Everyone who was at the game said it was how we should play and we bossed the game, it was more like the Rangers we should be seeing every week. Those not at the game all said its a very good result. Moving on we obviously look forward to the next draw and debate who we get. And going by performances overall this season most think we could come up against a side who tactically beat us due to Ally's past tactics. That's not poor support, that's just saying what we all know. But Friday night proved what we are capable of and that's why I think the only thing to fear is our own game plan rather than the opposition in the next round.

Yesterday morning I felt like we were maybe 2nd-4th favourites but looking at the teams left in it we should be joint favourites. If we get a home tie we should be capable of winning it. Dumbarton Albion Rovers Raith Stranraer or Inverness (If Stranraer can draw with Caley we can beat them) St Johnstone Aberdeen Dundee Utd or St Mirren There is absolutely nothing to consider fearing there and in years gone by that would be a dream line up for us. But I will take anything except Aberdeen away, more so the fact I don't want to play them for non-footballing reasons. But the good thing is its another season without a Celtic match to fund Doncaster and Co. And its another season to prepare for when we do meet them. Next season our opposition should be tougher on paper so will need us to raise the bar again on a weekly basis. When is the draw anyway?

As for Ozil....he looks like he doesn't want to be there and has done for 2 months now. One eye on the world cup me thinks! Its the free transfer Flamini who they miss
-
This is unreal. Arsenals defence is embarrassing and this has been coming all season. But it all came from an offside first goal which wasn't even a free kick.
-
Heart says Arsenal, Head says draw. Having seen the line ups though Arsenal do look stronger. Szczesny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Wilshere, Arteta, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Cazorla, Ozil, Giroud Mignolet, Flanagan, Cissokho, Toure, Skrtel, Gerrard, Henderson, Sterling, Coutinho, Suarez, Sturridge

Looking forward to this game. If there is a fixture where 2 teams will go for it then this one is. Liverpool will fancy it after beating Everton 4-0 in their last home game but Arsenal have a good record at Anfield and Liverpool in General with only 1 defeat in the last 13 league games. If Arsenal perform like they can then they will win but if they are off par they would probably lose. Sitting on the fence at the moment.

They wouldn't need an increase if they played it at a bigger ground, income would have doubled due to the attendance. I just don't see why the league cup final didn't follow suit, give Aberdeen 3 stands with Caley getting the west or east stand.

Ally McCoist: I'd have bet on Ibrox not being picked for League Cup final
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Couldn't agree more and in place of seats it was the screens which cost the club money. 57000 would have been great. As for Lawwells reply - biggest yes, best far from it.- 90 replies

Davie Provan, Alan McInally and Charlie Nicholas are all good pundits IMO. Its people like Andy Walker who just get the channel changed on them as soon as I hear him.

Of all the games I went to when that goal went in it was the loudest roar Ive heard. Just a shame we let the lead slip, it made the journey home that night feel very long.

Was my thinking also! They were quick enough to withhold anything from us. And then they hit themselves in the pocket by all voting us into the lowest tier.....but lend Hearts 800k, these people are beyond belief.- 90 replies

Ally McCoist: I'd have bet on Ibrox not being picked for League Cup final
Gribz replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
Fine comments from Ally. But we all knew where the final was going. There was more chance of the final being kicked off at Tannadice then crossing the road to Dens park at half time for the 2nd half than playing it at Ibrox.- 90 replies
