  1. Big changes to Man Utd team today and they were poor again. Big problems for Moyes. They players don't look like they are happy!
  2. Groups B, D and H look tough!! England could be out of it after 2 games. Italy then Uruguay! Nightmare for them. What a twat Gary Lineker is on MOTD, talking about who England will get in the 2nd round, saying its a winnable game against a team from group C. Argentina will be happy with their draw.
  3. Fully agree he inherited a group that isn't good enough but not sure about ageing. 1 or 2 are getting on but Smalling, Jones, Rafael, De Gea, Cleverly, Kagawa, Januzai, Zaha, Anderson, Hernandez, Welbeck, Rooney all still good ages. Its more that the players aren't good enough. Cleverly, Young, Anderson, Valencia and Nani just haven't performed. Fellaini hasn't either but its early for him. The defence keeps being chopped and changed. Rio and Vidic come in and out while Jones plays in 3 different positions. Zaha hasn't been given a chance and Kagawa is played well out of position.

I can see the argument for it especially with the crazy rule at the moment that when a player gets injured he has to leave the field and play starts before coming back on meaning the team who got fouled are the ones who lose a player. Maybe a warning card would be a better idea which would say next foul and the player is off. A rule Id like to see in is a 4th sub rule in the invent of an injured player especially if its the goalkeeper. I suppose some players could fake the injury so the team could get another striker on when pushing for a match so that would be tricky to manage but keepers don't fake injuries too much.
  5. I don't think they will sack him this season after the fuss that was made about 'sticking by the new manager'. Was Fergie making himself looking good here? But to take a Title winning team and become so far off says something. The Man Utd fans are being very patient!
  6. Moyes tried for 11 years to get Everton above Man Utd and now he has succeeded. Yet another defeat and 12 points off the top. Everton were far better shape than Utd and look more like scoring. The appointment just wasn't right. I admire Man Utd giving a British manager the chance but surely the football club is more important that a few morales about continuity of a manager. Jose whilst not hanging around for too long would have kept the trophies coming. When Liverpool were winning in the 70s and 80s they did it under 4 managers which says the club was all ok and the players were up for it. But perhaps its just the cycle of football. This is a side that won the league at a canter last year but don't look like they will finish top 6 this season. I didn't tip them for top 4. I understand managers need time but that's normally when things aren't going well. This is the champions and they have been derailed. They need 2 players in the quality of Fabregas, Sneidier, Modric, Schweinsteiger, Xavi, Iniesta. They should break the bank in January for Juan Mata. The centre midfields and creativity of the other big 3 is not worth comparing. Chelsea have Oscar, Hazard, Lampard, Ramiries, Essien, Mata, etc. Man City have Silva, Toure, Fernandinho, Nasri etc Arsenal have Ozil, Ramsay, Wilshire, Arteta, Flamini, Rosicky, Cazorla
  7. Agreed....or so Rugby League.
  8. A perfect draw. Firstly its a home tie. Secondly its against lower league opposition. Thirdly its not against an SPL side to finance them. Fourthly the 2 sides I didn't want to meet at any stage are drawn against each other so 1 of them is out. I can see where Andy Steel comes from in his post. Of course we never want to lose a game but I wouldn't lose any sleep knowing we aren't going to play an SPL side for another season. I think that's more the point he gets at.
  9. Templeton.....
  10. Pick up this thread from a few weeks ago. Arsenal done well to bounce back from the OT defeat which was a poor performance even though they deserved a draw. Im still not convinced by Man Utd and think Spurs will respond to their defeat by Man City and get a draw. Man City are unstoppable at home and will pick up a win although Swansea wont be easy but their record after playing on a Thursday night is poor. Chelsea v Southampton is a good game and a possible away win. Liverpool and Everton should both pick up wins staying in contention. Arsenal have Cardiff today and Hull at home in midweek, what a chance to cement top spot in Dec. Battles on at the bottom. Norwich v Palace and West Ham v Fulham. Both too unpredictable to have a bet on today.
  11. It wouldn't surprise me to see a change in the league structure next season and the SPL board play a desperate card by reformatting the top flight to 14 or 16 teams and making it 3 leagues in order to fast track Rangers up and keep Hearts in the top flight giving OF and Edinburgh derbies plus the others getting big gates with Rangers back. They would "use" the reason "we are listening to what the fans want"..... How else are they going to get a sponsor and clubs not get further in debt?
  12. Agree RE playing Celtic, I personally don't want to play any SPL side until 2015-16 when we are a top flight club. No thanks to Barry coming back, it would push a midfield player out the team who doesn't deserve it.
  13. Thing is they are still getting relegated this season, they wont overturn the point gap now. And next season whilst playing Rangers twice at home gives them good gates if we are on our game they will be having a second season in that league.
  14. That's is actually 4 very big clubs. Ok their league positions aren't glowing at the moment but all have very large fan bases and potential.
  15. And with Ajax beating Barca the night couldn't have gone any better.
  16. Being an early kick off this cost my coupon..... Good Arsenal opened a gap
  17. Oh 1-1 what a game
  18. Ok ignore that one then. Liverpool 1 up early on
  19. Everton for me....think Martini shaken not stirred has done a great job there and should be higher up the league. Cmon the toffees
  20. Would the creditors even be allowed to make a decision on accepting and not accepting under their circumstances? The only thing Hearts having going for them is IF the creditors are allowed to decide, it would seem to me that they would want any income they could get. The poor things is I think SPFL will do everything to try save Hearts using the reason 'for the good and need of the game'. Screw that caper, if that's the case RFC should walk away from anything to do with SPFL.
  21. We are playing Stenhousemuir away that day at 5:30pm. Im sure the bears who are in attendance will be speaking for every bear around the globe.
  22. It was a good result last night, Strachan should have been in charge 2 years ago.
  23. Im all for summer football, its a no brainer for me. I don't see how it could possibly make Scottish football be compared to LOI. LOI have very little history and always been a low level league. The Scottish game was once as strong as any in Europe and Rangers, Celtic, Aberdeen and Dundee Utd have all held their own. So I don't see summer football declining the Scottish game at all. The game is already in free fall due to the incompetent people running it. Since the SPL broke away it got worse. 'The takeover' this year should be a mass opportunity to revitalise the game but the powers that be have no desire to give the fans what they want. Calscot has posted a good few reasons for the change, while I have always said better weather means better pitches which means a better standard of play....therefore players could improve. I could definitely see the potential for Edinburgh derbies on a hot June night attracting a) a full house at Tynecastle or Easter Road and b) a decent viewing figure in England and abroad. Not to mention how big an Old Firm derby would be in the middle of summer!! A larger top flight and summer season is worth a try.
  24. Id probably have preferred that
