  1. Also - I didnt add - What the club have been doing over the previous summers of doing internal upgrades and repairs is very sensible. This would be first and foremost. Lots of Man Utd fans are complaining about how Old Trafford internally is being run down with leakages in the roof etc.
  2. Interesting. I wonder what capacity they are thinking about.
  3. Conte leaves Inter after winning title. Zidane reported to have left Real Madrid last night. Lille manager Galtier leaves after winning French title. Tottenham, Wolves, Palace, West Brom all looking for new managers. Celtic obviously are also but cant seem to get Howe over the line unless they are waiting for Steve Clarke (I hope so). Malky McKay returns to management with Ross County - he is a manager I actually rate and think he could do much better. Looks like the manager movements from club to club will be more busy than player transfers.
  4. Well done! Hope you had a flutter on that.
  5. Its embarrassing to have someone in the SFA getting football mixed up with bowls. The most Scotland could win is the fair play award. I fear the England game at Wembley plus Croatia at Hampden. Both could be cricket scores.
  6. Well done Uni Emery, that has shut a lot of pundits and radio stations up, some who said Man Utd had won it after they beat Roma 6-2. This proves Man Utd are still well short from Man City and Liverpool. They need 3 world class players and an elite manager. The hangover from Ferguson lasted long and meant Moyes and Van Gaal were always on a slippery slope. OGS was never part of the plan and landed the job after lifting a Mourinho cloud. With Conte and Allegri available they should be doing a deal for one of them today.
  7. I still think had Khan not hacked Mols then we would have gone further, that was a real blow. 3rd season went off the rails with players moving on and the likes of Nerlinger coming in, the midfield just disappeared.
  8. Its a good point. If you even gave it to Harry Redknapp a few years ago he would play great football. But you are right Southgate has his favourites, Im just surprised he didnt stick with Eric Dier as he seemed to love him. They have to start Foden, Mount and Grealish together.
  9. Very strong and they have to be one of the favourites. Goalkeepers: Dean Henderson (Man Utd), Sam Johnstone (West Brom), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Aaron Ramsdale (Sheff Utd) Defenders: John Stones (Man City), Luke Shaw (Man Utd), Harry Maguire (Man Utd), Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Kyle Walker (Man City), Tyrone Mings (Aston Villa), Reece James (Chelsea), Conor Coady (Wolves), Ben Chilwell (Chelsea), Ben Godfrey (Everton), Kieran Trippier (Atletico Madrid), Ben White (Brighton) Midfielders: Mason Mount (Chelsea), Declan Rice (West Ham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund), Kalvin Phillips (Leeds), Jesse Lingard (Man Utd), James Ward-Prowse (Southampton) Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Man Utd), Raheem Sterling (Man City), Dominic Calvert-Lewin (Everton), Phil Foden (Man City), Jack Grealish (Aston Villa), Mason Greenwood (Man Utd), Ollie Watkins (Aston Villa), Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund), Bukayo Saka (Arsenal). Aside - The Spain squad has no Real Madrid players in it for the first time. Do a Euros thread once all squads are announced.
  10. Still a couple of predictions to do starting tonight in the Uni Emery Cup. I didnt think Villarreal were anything good against Arsenal but did enough. Man Utd have match winners and are on a bit of a high and I cant see them not winning. Villarreal 0-2 Man Utd
  11. DA put together arguably the highest level of team Ive ever seen - totally competed in the CL with top sides. Only Valencia who were reaching finals around then were the only team who I thought outplayed us. But we rocked up against teams like Parma (quality at the time), Leverkusen, PSV, Munich are were the better side. Tugay, Ferguson, Van Bronkhurst, Reyna, Albertz, McCann and flashes from Kanchelskis was a frightening midfield. Two decisions which I thought were bizarre at the time which proved ultra wrong. 1) Re-signing Craig Moore. DA obviously knew he was a centre half. 2) Saying Amato wont be a starter as an unknown Michael Mols was coming.
  12. Thats what Arsenal are. When the pressure is off in the easy games they go on winning runs. They won their last 5 after being out of all comps. I had a look at the players they have out on loan and players with 1 year left - its a huge list. If they could get Torriera back and play him in the holding role it will free up Partey more. Even Guendouzi would add to their midfield. They have Mainland-Niles (good player), Willock (good player), Sablina (good potential) also coming back. I dont see Hammers being top 6 again especially with the Europa. If they keep hold of Rice and get Lingard then its huge but they could be done with someone like Loftus-Cheek also of even the Arsenal pair Mainland Niles and Willock. There is talk of Marco Arnatovic coming back which Im not in favour off. Leeds could stay mid table again, they still have a fresh feel about the side but need a few additions. Wolves wont be as strong IMO, Nuno had build something there. Dyche - must be a shoe-in for Palace.
  13. Full table with comments: 1 Man City - Success and will be ultra success if they land the CL to make it a treble. As mentioned, poor start but once they got going they were awesome. 2 Man Utd - Id say successful, OGS was tipped for the sack and if they land the Europa its a great campaign. Still 3 big players away from challenging. 3 Liverpool - Up and down. Started well and were top in December but then had an abnormal 6 home defeats. How they got third is bizarre. Poor campaign from defending champions. 4 Chelsea - Obviously too slow a start from Lampard, Tuchel came in and they stormed up the league. Honeymoon period is over though but a CL win would look good. 5 Leicester - One result Leicester 2-4 Newcastle and they would have been CL. Home form wasnt great and to slip out 2 seasons in a row must be hard to take. Great FA cup win but I think that papers over the league campaign. 6 West Ham - Fantastic campaign and barring a few slip ups (Arsenal at home, Newcastle away) would have made top four. Certain entertaining to watch. Squad needs to be bigger though especially with Europa. Moyes has redeemed himself this year. 7 Tottenham - Glad they got rid of dour Mourinho but always the bridesmaids and never the bride again for Spurs. Huge summer coming up with a manager they need to get right and with Kane going where do the goals come from. 8 Arsenal - How did they even get 8th. Really poor season, never showed up again in big matches and remain the playground bullies. 9 Leeds - Brilliant return for Leeds and never looked out of place. Second season will always be tougher. 10 Everton - So poor. Had multiple chances to get into dizzy heights but always seem to lose when they had the chance. They need a lot of surgery. 11 Aston Villa - From staying up on the last day a year ago they have been very good most of the season, credit to the manager here. But if Grealish goes its a massive loss. 12 Newcastle - Fought relegation for a large part of the season but somehow got 12th. It will be another struggle next season though unless a takeover happens. 13 Wolves - Not as strong as previous 2 campaigns but always solid mid table. Big decisions with a change of manager. 14 Crystal Palace - They always just seem to tick over with no problems in the league. Another side looking for a gaffer. Staying up is success. 15 Southampton - Very good first have of the season seen them top in November but fell down a from snakes on the snakes and ladders board. Overall average. 16 Brighton - Same league positions even since Hughton left but Potter is being credited for the way they are playing despite not scoring much. Success for them is staying up but they have to do better. 17 Burnley - I think Dyche's egg timer at Turf Moor has ran out of sand and he needs to try something different. Punched Burnley above their weight for years but are on the slippery slope now but they do have new rich owners. 18 Fulham - At one stage they looked like they could get out of it but werent good enough at the start. 19 West Brom - I didnt get the Bilic sacking in the first place and they put all eggs in the basket with Sams reputation. Thee Yo-yo club of the Premier League era. 20 Sheff Utd - Total collapse after a cracking first season but to not win until about game 18 of the season had them relegated very early. Very poor this season and looked like a mid table Championship club.
  14. Fair play to the Saints, its a good achievement.
  15. Belting game of football, very enjoyable. Hopefully Brentford go up now. I think the commentator mentioned they have been in 10 play offs and never went up via them. In League one Sunderland miss out again - 3 years in that tier for a big club.
  16. What a start to the second half
  17. Jim is a great guy. I almost got him to take me to a party in Glasgow after a game and book his car to take me up to Aberdeen after it. Fell through at the last minute ?
  18. No away goals - magic. Isnt the CL scrapping away goals next season?
  19. Didnt they just need a 1-0 to finish in their place or qualify for Europe??
  20. If Brentford do go up and I hope they do then I hope full crowds are allowed - those yellow seats are an eye sore
  21. Absolute sitter. What a difference fans make. Come on Brentford
  22. Best game Ive watched in donkeys.
  23. You have to go and ruin things ? To be honest I havent heard him for a long long time - the benefits of being an expat abroad. Agree about Davidson though - comes across very well. Pretty sure they were bottom of the league when he took over.
  24. Good game so far.
  25. Thanks BF - thats actually a relief - I was going to do away with the antivirus. Much appreciated. Im going for Nord VPN
