  1. In the last month: Man Utd 0-1 Newcastle Man Utd 0-1 Everton Man Utd 1-2 Tottenham Man Utd 1-2 Swansea Moyes is so far out of his depth its unreal, even Everton are a far better side this season.
  2. That will open up a can of worms, it will be due to the "old Co" and the SPFL will try nip in and claim it.
  3. Was put in a bracket with Pele, Maradona, Cruyff, Beckanbeauer and Platini....afraid the only one I can remember is Maradona. But to be put in a class with them means he is one of the all time greats.
  4. Yet you will get the other side of people saying because he isn't a Rangers man he knows nothing about the club, that's unless he is winning every game 6-0. For the last 30 years we have had 3 years of non Rangers men in charge - Advocaat for the best part of 3 seasons and PLG for 6 months. I think it would be refreshing to have a new face in who has had nothing to do with the club.
  5. Cant compare, one was the elite tournament the other was a huge step down. Champions league against good PSV and Bayern teams then only to be knocked out by Valencia who were the 2nd best team in Europe is not comparable with the UEFA cup opposition. The only comparison that can be made is Walters 92-93 run which was outstanding to go out on goals against the winners.
  6. Probably right about cost cutting but to not have a lead scout is shocking, why not move the next scout in line up a place (whoever that was) or did we only have Neil Murray? Laudrup was given the post of club ambassador and should have been offered scouting with that even if it was only in Denmark while doing his commentating. Its one thing saying bring in Gough and Mols etc to scout (and I have for sure said they should be involved) but the other thing is them agreeing to it, but I don't doubt for 1 second a couple of those greats would agree to dong some role in their country of residence.
  7. Everyone has to look at it in a wider spectrum IMO. You are right there that he has had the most difficult and unique time as a Rangers manager since the summer of 2012. But prior to that there was doubts in his early days with a title winning team, but we only got 5 months or so to judge that so lets take from division 3 onwards. He started the campaign with 6 players, no pre-season and not knowing what league (if any) we would be playing in until very late in the day. So for that to happen is almost an impossible task, however he got a squad in and had a chance to mould them. These players were still head and shoulders above the opposition and had the facilities equally to the best in Europe and were playing against part time players who are plumbers, painters etc on mon-fri.....therefore it shouldn't take long to get something together. But as the season went on when we expected progression things got uglier on the pitch rather than better, what does that say about training methods? Most fans saw it as chance to build a new brand of football and would have accepted the odd 1 step forward 2 back if there was ambition and light at the tunnel, but it was a case of 1 step forward and 2 back with no fresh ideas of quality. So that's a fail. This season he is getting the results but most fans are not best pleased with what they are seeing, that's hard to judge as all you can do is beat whats infront of you. But you would expect and imagine some of the play was promising and we would be looking forward to an assault on the championship next season, yet a few posters have said they aren't confident of winning that league next season. If Ally was to walk into the Albion Rovers job tomorrow how would Ally do? I think they would struggle. I still look at the 3 (McCoist, Durrant, McDowall) and think its a total mis-match and is very sunday league IMO - that's the impression I get. 1 from McCoist or Durrant (as good pals as they are) just doesn't fit and an experienced man like Ray Wilkins who was out of work for so long would have brought fresh ideas in.
  8. Edu was a strange one, 1 great game followed by 6 invisible games. Ness was a one hit wonder, scored a peach against Celtic but didn't do too much after that, always felt Hutton was the better of the 2. The history of players leaving rangers and going down a step or 5 is getting longer, look at Wylde, Fleck and McCabe.
  9. Why wasn't Neil Murray replaced? The possibilities for that job is a list longer than I could think of.
  10. I think Ally is making a point towards the board and SPFL. He knows the support comes from all corners of the country and Forfar away could easily be filled up with Bears from Dundee and Aberdeen. But a good point above was the postponements of our games due to international call ups.
  11. 16 behind and a game extra played! No chance for Hertz.
  12. Because he is not good enough, many below average players have scored goals but when if on around 50k a week Im sure Id notch 10 goals at that level at my peak. Miller is a far better player than Fletcher, he played in a poor Derby side that were punching well above their weight.
  13. And we'd have questioned if you would have been as good if you were clean. :fish:
  14. Having world beaters like Laudrup and Gascoigne was the entertaining time for Walter because they were a joy to watch but as soon as we came up against half decent European opposition we were bereft of any thought and got found out. But he deserves credit for bringing them to Ibrox. The game in the early to mid 90s was very different so criticism of Walter then is harsh, but 2nd time around he may have steadied a ship and had that euro run but the football wasn't great on the eye. I still wish we just went for it in Manchester and lost 3 or 4 nil rather than sit back and have no chances in that final. If we did play at a high pace tempo I believe we would have won. Gazza and Laudrup are my 2 personal all time greats and I cant split them, but neither featured in Advocaats team which would have played Walters team off the park. Advocaat's side in his first 2 seasons were very near to something special. They were too good on the eye at one stage. But importantly - they competed in Europe.
  15. A shockingly over rated player who shouldn't be near the Premier league. Celtic can scoop them all they like, he blowed hot and cold at hibs then sunderland. Good track record.
  16. I never thought there was any Liverpool-Rangers or Liverpool-Celtic / Everton-Rangers or Everton-Celtic relation. I just saw it as some scousers had Rangers as their Scottish team some had Celtic as theirs. You would always see scarfs of both a games. It has basically just been Liverpool trying to have a good relationship between both. Celtic invited Liverpool to Parkhead in the first game after Hillsborough but Liverpool have also had ex Bears like Souness. The club I always got the impression Rangers were linked with was Chelsea. I remember wearing my Gers top in London in 1989 and had about 3 different Chelsea fans giving me a pat on the back. One thing Liverpool and Everton do show us though, and the rest of the country, is how to have a rivalry. Being able to sit in with your family in the home end or vice versa is always good to see during the Merseyside derby.
  17. Craig Moore was another who was booed constantly when WS played him in midfield yet I was one who cold clearly see he was a centre half and being played out of position, Advocaat saw that and Moore went on to being one of our best centre halves in the last 20 years. If a player is playing poor id never boo him, yes Id say he is having a stinker but id be blaming the manager for not subbing him or dropping him.
  18. I read about that interview on SS and before he says its something they have talked about then its got some truth to it. He looked like he lost 2 yards of pace last few Scotland matches he played, but he did look good against England at Wembley. That sort of form for 12 months would be ideal to get us back to the top flight. But Id rather spend (if there is money) money more wisely for long term. Unless Ally is thinking just getting back to the top flight is ok then we have a settling in period of 1-2 season. But the thought of finishing behind any of the other 11 SPL clubs at the moment it depressing. Im realistic to know we wont over take Celtic on our first season back but imagine finishing below the likes of Dundee Utd and Aberdeen! At least in 2006 when we finished 3rd Hearts were a decent team and at one point looked like they could win the league.
  19. This guy has luck on his side along with late dirty tricks and the SPFL will have their sponsor soon once potential sponsors realise Rangers are 12 months off being in the top flight. He will also probably do the league restructure and make the top flight more attractive.
  20. Same as Charlton, had a manager who knew how to just stay in the league and once he went they dropped like a stone. Clubs like Stoke need to realise how lucky they are just to be a Premier league club and not wish for improvements and getting rid of their managers. Pulis cemented them even though they were poor but I see no difference in Stoke this season under Hughes, they are still horrible to watch. Some clubs just have an unattractiveness about them. Sunderland are another.
  21. Pretty much done now, only a winning streak of 4 games in a row would give them a sniff so long as the 2 above them don't pick up any. The Jammy Jambos, thy may even earn more next season with 2 home games against us, and clubs like Dundee will bring same numbers as Dundee Utd, Killie etc to Tynecastle. Then done be surprised if the SPFL have it up their sleeve to have 2 clubs going up next season or the SPL expansion putting them back up. I think they are holding out until Rangers are as close to the top flight as possible before trying something. It would be too shocking if we didn't. We wont have a lead like this season but should have it done by March 2015.
  22. Wont happen but the Kenny Miller resigning is picking up some ground.
  23. I give Moyes credit for finally making Everton a better team than Man Utd at the 12th year of asking. Sherwood deserves some credit for getting Spurs back on track in the last few games.
  24. Im the youngest out of that trio so I'll stay on. Agree RE Little, he is a must to stay for me. Hutton I like as a player but hasn't had luck with injuries.
